Assuming Ember bypasses the trap
Move into the kitchen looking for something to jam the door with and/or the stove to cut the gas line.

Brad, this is why I asked if I thought we'd both get zapped if someone set the trap off. I wanted the option of running through the trap, but didn't want both of us to take the damage.

I'm willing to run through the trap. The Vamps are getting close.'

I just want to 2x check I have this right, did you want to try to disable the trap for you & Ember, then run towards the door, or run through the undisabled trap at -2 defenses for CA (forcing Ember to do the same)?

Note: Telgarth is 8 squares ahead of the horde, so a single run will put you 16, more than their 2x moves of 6+6. Ember was 5 squares ahead of them wanting to move 3. Big difference.

Telgarth tries again and 14+5+2=21 thievery, success, then runs 8 towards the door, drawing a potion as he does. Phew! That was... easy.

Ember then does a run/run and is almost at the door.

(altar room group takes 1 round of actions)

Vamp horde does move/move toward Telgarth/Ember...

Next round Telgarth & Ember see Selena waiting for you guys. When you get in, she says she's not going anywhere without Angel, then, when she sees the horde of Vampires chasing you, she changes her mind & speeds away.

Telgarth, Ember, it is about 15 mins to sunrise, and as you speed off, you see all the Vampires going to their cars to pursue. Where do you have Selena drive to, what do you do?

Altar room group: (Angelus, Blade, Ashe), please post your next 3 melee rounds of actions...

Round 1: Run towards prisoner's attempting to jump over river of blood. Use standard to Open Lock's if I have enough actions to do so.
Round 2: Open locks to free the most alive people using move actions to get to the correct area.
Round 3: Repeat Round 2 unless consensus with party members is to run.

Do we have cell phones? I wasn't sure if we were able to pick them up initially or not. I believe almost every teen has one these days. I know when my kids get theirs taken away the feel like the world is falling apart... Twisted Evil

If I have a phone I'll call Ember and/or Telgarth to see where they're at and get a status update during round 2. If not, then actions are as below unless the "bomb" looks like it's going to blow.

Round 1: continue freeing captives
Round 2: continue freeing captives
Round 3: continue freeing captives

If I remember right it is a minor to do a perception. I will try to perceive how soon it will be for the explosives to blow based on the fire hitting them and also what will happen once the explosives do blow. IE are they placed to bring the roof down or are they designed to blow it outward.

all other moves and standards will be used to try and free as many captives as possible while exhorting them to free other captives as well.

Yes and no. A cell phone very well could have been one of the 2 handheld items grabbed from your bedrooms, but no one did. However, when you freed the workers from the kitchen, you also found a bag full of cell phones. Selena & Vala each grabbed one and any PC who wants can have one of these stolen phones.

It looks like the fires alone might, sometime in the next minute to couple minutes, be enough to ignite the explosives mounted on the roof. It looks like it's meant to vent the ceiling. After 3 rounds, you do see smoke gathering up in the high ceiling. You think they intended to burn the place down as completely as possible.

I haven't done the skill check rolls yet, but even if Blade grabs the artifacts and all three of you work for 3 rounds, I don't think you'd have freed 33 survivors yet. Keep going until everyone's free?

During round 2 they were pretty distracted & didn't hear/answer the phone, but after round 3 when they're in the car with Selena, they can answer or call you back. (Assuming they also grabbed a stolen cell phone...)

All the Vamps are getting into their cars to pursue Ember & Telgarth, the casino is not yet showing smoke from the fire in the altar room from the outside. The parking lot has a single car in it now, a very nice one with dark tinted windows.

You think you count 10, but aren't possitive as you speed toward the freeway entrance. They had to get in and start their cars, so they are 2 movements behind you but stepping on the gas to gain as much as possible. (They are not driving speed limit)

Correct, predawn light isn't the problem, but LOS is. You are currently 1 melee round (6 seconds) out of the parking lot driveway and you don't yet know how many cars are about to follow you out. Yes, by the time you're all on the freeway, you'll have a better count.

Ashe will keep going until all the alive prisoners are free. He will also give whatever direction he can to the freed prisoners to help release more as well.

1 minute is 10 rounds so we should have at least that much time. Even if the roof does blow it looks like it was meant to vent the ceiling and that should hopefully mean minimal roof falling on the altar room.

After 3 rounds since the gun girl was dusted, Blade grabbed some religious artifacts, 20+10=30 athletics easily leaps the river of blood and 24 & 30, easily frees 2 groups of sacrifices.

Ashe, in the same 3 rounds, plus the round where Blade dusted gun girl, 20, 21, 21, 7, freed 3 groups of sacrifices, but is struggling with the 4th.

Angelus 10, 16, 12, 15, is not as gifted in crime as the other 2, and only free 2 groups.

These 10 plus the other 3, we'll say 17 groups more to free everybody. The room is starting to get uncomfortably smoky. The explosives on the ceiling are still in the fires but look like they're holding up okay for now. The detonator for them is still in the large chest thingy on the stage where Blade saw them. The freed prisoners are still willing to, but unable to effectively help with the shackles unless someone gives them a spare dagger or the like.

Ember, Telgarth, as the two of you and Selena speed off out of the parking garage, you see the whole horde of Vampire elders jumping in their cars to pursue you. You can't tell for sure yet since they're still getting into their cars, but it looks like they're jumping in 2 to a car, so you're guessing you'll have about 10 cars about to give chase. Right now Selena is drive/drive on her action and you can tell a pretty skilled driver.

Altar room group: Intended actions for the next few rounds now is fine (since the Vampire horde did have someone to chase out the building). Just need to know who's doing the traps in the stairs when you get to that... what you do when you get everyone out of the building...

Car chase group: We need to play out the next couple rounds of actions & what your plans are on holding them off until sunrise...

Can we cast spells into another car, like could Ember cast the flaming sphere into another car? Or like could we cast a spell in a known location - like the driver's seat.

How well can we see into the other cars? Is it like they have concealment?

I don't think anyone has a spare dagger or knife or anything really.

OK I think we have 33 people freed out of 99 correct? 1/3rd of the way there.

After I see that the prisoners are incapable of using str to bust the chains even with 4 of them (1 freed person + 3 people chained) I will send 10 freed people to the office level to grab pens, knives, letter openers, or other office staples that could be used to jimmy locks. I make sure and tell them with great importance that if they try to get down to the lower levels below the office there are traps that will kill them. Once they get back I will have them help try to open the chains.

I will also instruct 10 other people that are able bodied and look to be able to carry stuff to head to the office level and loot anything that looks valuable and or important. Computers, art, briefcases, CD's, USB drives, Portable hard drives, etc. Pile everything they find next to the stairs and wait for everyone to head downstairs to the lower levels. Do NOT go down to the lower levels without us or the traps will get you!

I instruct the other 10 people to start getting the sickly and weaker people outside the altar room on the stairs going down. I will designate a leader of this group and their job is to make sure every sick person has a healthy "buddy". That buddy is responsible for the sick person to help them get down the stairs. If they are really sickly they can start heading downstairs to the office level so they get a head start. Again reiterate that the traps are deadly.

Each set of freed prisoners gets assigned to a group. If they are capable and there is a spare office tool that the previous people grabbed they get to start opening locks and freeing more people. If they look business savvy, tech savvy, street smart or similar they get assigned to looting the office, and last if they are sick, in shock, or seem to be able to do care giving they get assigned to helping the others get out of the altar.

After we get all prisoners freed and start heading down I will have everyone grab something that the others looted.

Once we get to the traps I will take the religious stuff and blade was the one that did the thievery stuff earlier so he can do that again.

As far as Angelus, I will say "Thank you for your help as I might have died were it not for you. I don't know who you are but I would like to find out. No time to chat now but we will talk more after we get out of here."

If they're within range, sure. These particular cars have very dark tinted windows so you don't have LOS into the cars though.

They are 2 movement actions behind you, but are keeping pace even though Selena is driving pretty fast. There are quite a few cars in pursuit.

OK I think we have 33 people freed out of 99 correct?

You think there are 33 survivors, shackled to as many posts. 100 bodies in all, 2/3 dead already.

Ashe is helping free everyone & direct survivors down 1 level only. Blade, Angelus do anything different?

Nope, unless I think there is a way to put out the fire or keep the explosives from triggering.

Since we know there's a trap on the doors below and they probably won't be able to detect or disable it we'll need to send someone with them.

Angelus doesn't have Religion or Thievery trained... I'll have to keep freeing captives until Blade and Ashe want to go.

So just to make sure I have everything correct.

There are 33 survivors out of 100 people, 64 people are dead. All 100 are shackled in groups of 3 to a post by chain. If we manage to get a chain free that will free anywhere from 1 to 3 people.

We have succeeded in freeing 7 groups of people and are working on 3 more (Angelus on 2 and me on 1). After we get those 3 done there are 17 more groups that actually have people in them. I can't remember where but according to what you said
These 10 plus the other 3
there are three other groups that have already been released? That gives us a total of 30 groups of people that have someone alive in them.

10 released (7 in the last 4 rounds plus the three)
3 we are working on
17 more groups.

Hopefully I got it all now.

I will still keep the same directions just whittle the groups down buy 1/3rd. So send 3 people downstairs to get anything they can find to help us release more people, 3 people looting and piling computers/data items and valuables, and 3 to help move people downstairs.

The traps are on the bottom two floors. One trap (on the Casino level in the stairwell) to get from Casino to Office floors and one trap (on the bottom level in the stairwell) to get from the bottom to the Casino level. The only remaining way out is to get to the bottom floor as the doors are all magically blocked off on the Casino level.

Exactly. Thank you. You released the groups with 3 survivors first, and aren't bothering with the 3 groups with zero survivors.

Yes, normally you need to be trained in religion DC15, then trained in thievery DC15, but since you've bypassed these exact 2 traps 3 times each now, I'm considering any of you trained for purposes of getting by this trap.

Note: the traps are on the doors to the office level and the kitchen level, as sort of a harsh reminder for guests not to go too far. They are not on the casino level where it could zap guests.

Alright, fast forward through all the boring stuff...

Eventually Ashe, Angelus, & Blade free everyone and make their way out of the building before the fires bring it down. It is very smoky for you all before you do, and there are the 3 of you and 33 very wounded massacre survivors in the parking lot with one single locked car (also with dark tinted windows) in the parking lot. It is chilly pre-dawn air besides the warmth of the growing building fire. Everyone is drenched in blood from head to toe, especially Blade who looks as if he was completely submerged in blood. Angelus looks only as if he was lying in blood for a few seconds, completely unwounded.

What do you 3 do with the survivors, the car, how do you get to Giles?

Telgarth, Ember, I'm going to assume you fire magical volleys when you can as Selena drives, and as you break the windsheilds, they disengage from the chase. Three cars, the one furthest in back containing Mui & Mercury, are following you into the city just before sunrise, before they break pursuit. Selena tells you what you already guessed, that the police are probably already or are soon to be hot after this car for at minimum, stolen vehicle, most likely more. Also, while not a concern for the two of you, your driver is very concerned about the immenent sunrise.

What do you 2 (& Selena) do about avoiding capture by police, sunrise for Selena, and regrouping with Giles & the others?

You two just glance back as Selena shakes off her Vamp face, from smelling the two of you covered in blood, and asks if you two can keep the windows by you open, but not let the sun in...

I say we call the police/fire department to report the casino fire. The Blade, Ashe, and Angelus examine the lone car. If it looks safe, take it to meet the others before help arrives.

We just want to drive it somewhere close to where we want to be just in case it has a tracker of some kind. We can walk or get another ride to get to where Giles and the others are.

I will check around and in the car for any tracking devices or even a bomb. Pop the trunk and see what's inside as well.

Look around our vehicle in a secluded place - inside, trunk.

If there is no other way take the car to an automated car wash and get out during the cycle and clean up.

But why was I covered in blood? I was only next to the blood with the rollers under it. Or did we get bloody from passing through the difficult area.

Doesn't Ember have some other clothes? We could stop by somewhere and get different clothes as Ember and I have some cash. Suggestion - a coat with a big ultra big hoodie, gloves and like a muslim head wrap for Selena.

I assume Selene has the skills to hot wire another car?
If so, look for a tall building with a underground garage.

Tell Selene we need to ditch the car and get her out of the sun.

Tell her to park the car on the lowest level next to one she can jump.
Have Selene put on my black jeans and black hooded sweatshirt I had in my bag to cover up her skin.
After she starts the car, ask her to get in the trunk and tell Telgarth to drive us back to motel where Giles is at.

The building fire probably will not get police or fire out here for at least a half hour since the plan seems to be to burn it down. If that is the case they would have told them to stay away for a bit so the blaze could get out of control.

Ashe will put his sword in his glove and the shield on his back for now so it is slightly less obvious he is carrying around a huge shield.

Hopefully it is fairly easy to get blood out of leather.

For the 33 people I would say it is best if they leave now alone or in small groups. Get back to their families and possibly move out of state. Now that they know vampires are real they need to be extra wary cause I am sure vampires don't want 33 survivors hanging around.

I will talk to Angelus and see if I can find out where he came from and why. I will also ask about Telgarth and Ember since I didn't get to see them make it out of the altar room.

I will give all of the survivors an email address I will create later on imail (Infinity Mail, this worlds version of Gmail). It will be vbladedrow@imail.com. Tell them to email if they need us, but don't give details on where they are in case it's compromised. Just mention you met me at a casino and would like to hook up again. Leave a secure phone number, instant message ID or an email address.

Everybody was 'bloodied' at least a couple times, so you have blood from your own healed injuries, plus, for you two from your shins on down is also covered in blood from walking through the sacrifices.

When do you make this call? Right after you get out of the building, or wait a while?

The lone car is locked, unbombed as far as you can tell, and kind of a 'chick car' that you think belonged to the gun girl you guys killed upstairs.

Also, Vala, the little Halfling thief who isn't with any of you stole the cars, Selena has no idea how to break in & hotwire a car.

Plus, GREAT idea with the email address! I love it!
