Logs for a side campaign of the Newport Knights 3rd Level 4th Edition

20211218 - Kobe , Suzuka Human Female Druid; Alex, Corvo Attano Eladrin Rogue; Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Everett, Akagi Minotaur Barbarian; Kevin, Ooga Booga, Barbarian; Grace, Irina Human Female Paladin.  

The Eye of the Rat - The heroes save famous S-Pop singer Kim Ye-Ri from being kidnapped by some thugs along the docks.  Lilly, Kim's backup singer and aid, and Ooga Booga, one of her body guards, are helped by some bystanders.  Kim was on her way to her Uncle Obi-San's home and the group gathers there and find out from a captive that they are the Tozuku Gang and they are after a medallion.  The heroes gather info on the gang and return to the manor house just before it is attacked by the gang.  They fight them off and make thier way through the sewers to the Hole in the Wall Inn where they rescue Irina.  The heroes then make it back to the mansion and are magically sent to the island where Hara-San lives.  There they fight off a giant minotaur and take the medallion that they use to open the former gang leader's treasure area.

20220326 - 3rd Level - Kobe , Suzuka Human Female Druid; Alex, Corvo Attano Eladrin Rogue; Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Everett, Akagi Half Ogre Cleric; Shane, Shen-Yi Human Ranger  

Bounty Hunting Yumi-Baka - After winning a local archery contest, Shen-Yi is having a fine dinner in a tavern, listening to the famous S-Pop singer Kim Ye-Ri and Lilly.  Kim's uncle, is there as well as his guards.  Suddenly, Yumi Baka and two of his demon friends bust in and accuse Shen-Yi of cheating.  In a rage, the demon slays a soldier who is sitting at Shen Yi's table and one of the other demons cuts down a town constable.  A battle erupts with the three demons tearing through the tavern and a collection of bystanders jumping in to help the archer.  After being hit with some beans, Yumi flees and leaves his two fellows to thier fate.

After finishing off the demons, the heroes speak to the authorities and other tavern patrons and determine there is a huge bounty for the demon.  There is also trouble up the coast with savages but the heroes decide to go after the demon.  The rest up at the Uncle's house and borrow his ship to cross the bay, landing at Kino Village.  The group speak to a dwarven rope maker and gain some information on the keep.  They decide to go right up to the gate in broad daylight and pretending they are bringing in Shen-Yi for a reward, they bluff thier way past the dull witted demon guarding the gate.  They find thier way into the main hall and a pitched battle breaks out with the heroes moving into the room against eight Ronin, two demons, and a hired Ninja.  After an intense struggle, with Suzuka hitting Yumi with beans (allergy), they subdue him and the Ninja.  Exhausted, they rest and after rescuing a captured prince, then set the rear of the building on fire as a distraction and rush out of the complex.  However, when they get back to the village, the ship has left and they end up walking back to Soulkeo.  They discover the map is to a Staff of Firestorms.

Oh, and you guys have two sets of + 1 Leather Armor and two sets of Acorbat boots and a Bag of Holding to divide up.

20220701 - 3rd Level - Kobe , Suzuka Human Female Druid; Alex, Corvo Attano Eladrin Rogue; Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Grace, Irina Human Female Paladin; Becky, Da YinJing Tiefling Sorcerer

Escorting Prince Kaga - While Ooga Booga, and Akagi escort Shen Yi to his next archery match and also hope to find some clues regarding the map to the Staff of Firestorms. The rest of the gang, and Yoriko the house keeper, have a fun night of singing at the Bass Cleff and are walking home when Irina spots one of the thugs who kidnapped her. She follows and walks herself and her friends into an ambush by the Tozuku Gang. With the help of a passing demon sorcerer, Irina, Lilly, Suzuka and Corvo drive off the dozen gang members and capture two wererats and one Thug. They learn that Irina is one third owner of a Hoppi field in the northwest and that by killing her, the gang will increase thier share of ownership.

Wanting to get out of town for a few days, the gang decides to escort Prince Kaga, whom they rescued from the demons, home to his mountain. They take Kim's Uncle ship as the roads were likely being watched by the gang. Several of the group have spiritual experiences while on the ship. After disembarking on the coast, the group heads inland toward the nearest village by the mountain. There, they come across some cultists who are sacrifcing animals and small children to power some sort of portal. The heroes charge forward, with Irina leading the way. Corvo teleports the pale skinned leader away from the portal and is confronted by a magical dog. More cultists appear from around the houses and an epic struggle takes place with the druid falling unconsious on a rooftop and the sorcerer and bard both leaping up a tree to heal her. Only the leader cultist escapes and the group rescues the kids. Some passing wood cutters take the kids to the nearest village and the Paladin figures out the key to the portal and the group chase after the cultist.

The cultist summons a wraith to cover his escape as the heroes appear. He rushes into a cave while the party deals with the wraith. The group then figures out which of the three tunnels to go down and catch up to the cultist in a river valley where the leader has enslaved a large Griffon to slay the heroes but even with the two of the party members falling unconcious, they succeed in downing the cult leader and freeing the Griffon from the cultist's spell so that the beast can fly off to its nest.

The prince then uses the portal to return home but later sends to messengers with a reward for the heroes, a magic die. The heroes return to Soulke-O to rest and recover and sing songs of thier adventures!

20220710 - 3rd Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Alex, Corvo Attano Eladrin Rogue; Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Grace, Irina Human Female Paladin; Becky, Da YinJing Tiefling Sorcerer; Lilly, Akagi, Minotaur Cleric; Nami, Kai, Deva Paladin

The Hoppi Fields - After Lilly is promoted to Regent, Corvo, Irina, and Akagi are joined by two new guards, Kai and Jackie. They take the KishiSumu (Night Life) to Shirakawa village to check on Irina's cousins, Iroko and Aaron. During the voyage they hit a rogue wave and stare down some undead sea spirits. Then DaYinJing makes a grand arrival with another Tiefling on a flying black horse. The group makes it to the village and look up Iroko first where they discover three gang members in her house. After killing one, capturing the second and driving off the third, they find out the gang has kidnapped her husband and son in order to get her to sign over her ownership of the Hoppi field.

So the heroes interogate the prisoner and find out that fang gorge is a possible location. The heroes go there instead of visiting Aaron-San. Irina helps a wounded soldier and he tells the group of two locations in the gorge, the Fang Tribe of Kobalds and an abandoned mason's house. After Lilly puts a giant snake to sleep, the heroes are able to enter the gorge and find approach the house from the valley and climb up unnoticed until Corvo stomps on the roof. A huge battle breaks out with a few Thugs, two wererats, a few Kobald emmisaries, Nestor (the leader wererat) and late in the battle "Tiny" a huge wererat! The heros defeat the kidnappers and thier allies and rescue Iroko's husband and little Garrija. The heroes arrive at Aaron's temple with a naked, flaming Tiefling leading the way!
On the way home, the heros meet a magic merchant and trade a bit.

20220805 - 3rd Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Grace, Irina Human Female Paladin; Becky, Da YinJing Tiefling Sorcerer; Lilly, Akagi, Minotaur Cleric; Nami, Kai, Deva Paladin; Kevin, Alderwood Jr Crimson III, Elf Wizard.

Brutal Blood Boar of Gloom Temple - The Kishi Suma (ship) is overdue and Obi San Ye Ri sends his "A" team of Lilly, Corvo, ShenYi, Suzuka and TalDan to the island where it was last spotted.  He also sends Kai, the Deva Paladin with a small escort to check out a village near the island just in case the ship is there.  The heroes take a small fishing boat to the village and indeed find the Kishi Suma there.  After speaking to some villagers, they determine that the pirates of the Bloody Bannor are leaving shortly with thier own pirate ship as well as the Kishi Suma.  Waiting until the pirate ship is pulling away, the heroes attack w Jackie leading the way.  Kai leaps onto a roof and then jumps onto the bow of the ship swinging his axe.  Alderwood hears Irina's voice calling for help, but hides behind Akagi not knowing who the Paladin is.  Jackie breaks open the door with a flying side kick and frees the Paladin who deals a near mortal blow (39 hits) to the pirate leader.  The battle rages, and one by one the heroes down the pirates until the pirate mage, pressed by Irina and Jackie, teleports over to the piratre ship.  The heroes rescue the captive crew below and after a couple days the ship returns to Soulke-O.  The heroes then hear of a gloomy temple near the village and decide to investigate.  

They meet a beautiful woman at the edge of a sea of bamboo.  She asks them some riddles before vanishing.  Jackie spots her as a fox demon.  The group finds a stray horse and feed and heal it.  Kai decides to use the horse as a mount.  As they move through the bamboo, they are ambushed by kobalds.  Although Akagi tosses out the gold demanded by the kobalds, he clubs the wolf sent to get the cash.  A swirling fight breaks out with Jackie on point battling the wolf riding kobald leader.  Near the rear of the heroes, Ya-Jing and Irina battle the kobald shaman.  When the wolf rider goes after Kai, the other mounted opponent, Jackie jumps up onto the wolf and dispatches the rider but is thrown onto the ground by the mount.  After taking enough punishment the remaining kobalds retreat back into the bamboo.

The heroes move on, finding half a deer and some very large tracks.  Then the temple, there Ya-Jing finds a side room with a lot of bones and some magic slippers.  The rest of the group investigates the main chamber and after a short time, the Brutal Blood Boar returns and tramples several of the party and charges the cleric, inflicting a major wound.  After several ineffective attacks, Jackie stuns the boar and then Irina rushes over and yanks out the beast's horn, greatly weakening it (52 hits and -4 to defenses).  For three rounds the heroes beat down the stunned boar until it vaporizes, returning to the evil plane where it came from.

20220918 - 3rd Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Grace, Irina Human Female Paladin; Kevin, Alderwood Jr Crimson III, Elf Wizard, Alex, Corvo Attano Half Elf Rogue; Tom, Idon Ikdre F Half Orc Barbarian

Prince Kaga sends a message to Irina and Corvo asking them to intercept a strike team that will make an attempt to free a mind flayer, Oki Atama, from a monestary prison.   They accept, but while on the way to look for Jackie Lee, they are attacked by hobgoblin soldiers working for the mind flayers.  Luckily, Jackie and Alderwood Jr Crimson III were close by as was a passing barbarian and with thier help, they fend off the attacking hobgoblin soldiers.  They decide to take the ship to the mountain prison and make it with little trouble.  Having some time the group makes a side trip to a tree headed elephant and find that is speaks to certain passersby.  

Arriving at  the prison monastery, the heroes coordinate with the head monk there and the small group of five guards, laying alarms and traps for the expected strike team.  Not long after all preparations are made the guard by the front door yells the alarm that the dark dwarves are fleeing into the woods with the prisoner.  Corvo rushes in that direction but Jackie decides to check the cell.  Opening the cell, Jackie discovers that the prisoner is indeed gone as there is a large hole in the floor of the cell.  He jumps into the hole, followed by Irina, the barbarian, and Alderwood.  They see the fleeing dwarves with the "real" mind flayer.  Although the three dwarves attempt to block the group, they manage to work thier way around them and attack the mind flayer directly.  Corvo and the guards confirm that the fleeing mind flayer near the front door was an illusion and they run off the dwarf wizard and the two dwarf soldiers who supported the distraction.

Through thier quick action, the heroes run the rest of the dwarves off and subdue the mind flayer preventing his escape.  The heroes then find the hidden treasure cavern and quickly locate the treasure that was promised them for their services.

20221228 - 3rd Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Lilly, Akagi, Minotaur Cleric; Nami, Kai, Deva Paladin; Alex, Corvo Attano Half Elf Rogue, Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard

Return to the Temple of Gloom - Obi San Ye Ri sends his Lilly, Corvo, Kai, Jackie Lee and Akagi back to the Temple of Gloom. Irina's cousin, Kenji, has stolen a sword from Kai's order and with a few friends, has set off to the temple to slay the fox demon that may have moved in after the Blood Boar was slain by the heroes.

After speaking to some villagers, the heroes confirm thaT the teens passed through. The heroes gather some information on the demon, the guide the teens hired, and some local events. They take the safer north road, meet some guards and pause at the elephant statue. Near the Bamboo Sea, they encounter one of the teens, Haruto, fleeing toward them with a couple of armed men giving chase. Kai charges the swordsmen who turn out to be slavers. Suddenly four horsemen attack from the south. Corvo takes the two archers out of the battle, distracting them to the west. Akagi scares the wounded footman who runs. Jackie fights a slaver and gains a horse. Eventually, the heroes drive the slavers off, capturing a bird man. Haruto tells her tale how she and the others were defeated at the temple by some men and a huge Sumo fighter. She thinks only she and the guide escaped.

The heroes travel to the temple and figure out how to open the passage in front of the four headed hydra statue as well as the statue in front of the podium. They recover a number of stored items as well as freeing some prisoners, one of them one of the teen brothers they were looking for. The group sends in the birdman to the main temple. He is downed by a spearman who is another teen the group is looking for. The group charges in and are ambushed by three charmed men. They push them back and free one of them and Lilly sends him off to get help. Then a woman appears and when Jackie calls her out, she turns into the Fox demon. Corvo and Kai work together to break the gem on the Fox demon. A cold demon appears tne the fox demon runs. Jackie runs to get a fish and hits the demon with it. That combined with the rest of the heroes is enough to down the ice demon.

20230319 - 3rd Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Alex, Corvo Attano Half Elf Rogue, Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Grace, Irina Human Paladin; Uguumur, Lea Human Ranger

Rescuing Ren - After returning most of the young adventurers to Seoulkeo, Jackie, Corvo, and Lilly, joined by Irina, return to the Temple of Gloom to pick up the trail of the Slavers and save Ren. They head west and spot some smoke. Investigating they come across some retreating slavers who stole tools from a group of smiths and then set thier smithy on fire. Three Oni demons and a few slavers on horseback are delaying the dwarves while the slavers on foot get away. The heroes arrive from the east and a band of tribal warriors, led by Lea (who are looking for Lea's little sister Vena) arrive from the west. A battle with four groups of combatants breaks out with the heroes, dwarves, and tribal warriors fighting the slavers and Oni. Lea badly injures one of the slavers she suspects took her sister and then jumps into the burning building to save her dog Kimo but a slaver steals her horse. Irina charges the slavers and pulls one of the riders off thier horse and takes it, then gives the horse to Lea after the battle. Jackie, Lilly and Corvo are bably injured fighting a couple of riders and two of the demons. With too many enemies, the heroes drive the slavers off.

Regrouping, three of the warriors return home and Lea joins the heros looking for Ren. Lea leaves her dog with the dwarves and the dwarves put out the fire, start repairs and offer the heroes a reward if they are able to recover the stolen tools. Going west, the heroes find Bunko, the guide who escorted the teen adventurers, near a strange stone pillar. Lilly studies the symbols and causes some magic words to appear. Irina then yells a challenge and a ghostly evil twin of herself appears and she defeats it and gains inner strength. Jackie also yells the challenge and is defeated, alive, but wounded.

Bunko tells of a crease in the land that can be used to approach the slaver base with less chance of being spotted. The dwarves tell of a mine entrance near the slaver base which also may be a way in. However the heroes have Lilly and Irina pose as slave traders and offer up Lea in exchange for Ren. The slavers go for the deal as Lilly laid it out so convincingly.

Then, Jackie, Bunko, and Corvo sneak up the crease but are spotted and then retreat. Later, they try again, and even w increased guards, they make it to the wall. They scale the wall and find the fhut with the slaves. They set fire to two of the guard towers and while most of the slavers are fighting the fires, Jackie, Corvo and Bunko burst into the slave hut, free Lea who joins the fight and quickly down the two guards. They free the rest of the slaves and make thier escape out the rear gate. They return to Seoulkeo as heroes (again).

20230819 - 3rd Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Alex, Corvo Attano Half Elf Rogue, Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Lily, Akagi Minotaur Cleric; Tom, Vecima Female Goliath Fighter

While resting in a tourist mountain village, the village suffers an earthquake and the heroes help many of the villagers. Lilly blasts an old grandma with thunder, Akagi pushes a huge tree onto a stable, and Jackie nearly burns to death in a river of molten cheese. The leader of a local cult of researchers rescues the heroes by having them climb aboard an airship. There, they are hired to check on an ancient burial site to make sure the evil within is secure and that the earthquake did not damage any of the security measures.

The heroes face many difficult puzzles but eventually find that the powerful lich has escaped. They pull out all the stops and force the undead horror back in the crypt and with a heroic effort by the bard, seal the tomb once more.

20230917 - 4th Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Alex, Corvo Attano Half Elf Rogue, Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Lily, Akagi Minotaur Cleric; Grace, Irina, Human Paladin; Uggumur, Lia, Half Elf Ranger.

On the way home from a vacation, the heroes hit a highway detour. Their guide tries to have the group avoid a dangerous clearing but the heroes investigate anyway and find a talking sword who leads them into a crypt. The heroes recognize some of the paintings from the last tomb they cleared and know that a female Paladin and the lich they entombed last time are both involved. After defeating some forest beetles, they continue on.

They come across some burial sites and wisely do not disturb them. Then they enter a hall with three doorways and answer a number of riddles and fight some magical images of themselves. They group chooses a room where a play has been disrupted and figure out which of the statues is the evil hag. They then find the crypt of the Paladin and quickly rescue her from her bondage. Escaping out the crypt before it collapses, the heroes also free a bound golem and then return to Seolkeo.

20231125 Hidden Horrors
4th Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Alex, Corvo Attano Half Elf Rogue, Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Lily, Akagi Minotaur Cleric; Tom, Vecima Female Goliath Fighter

In the Dredges of Soulkeo, many people have been vanishing w/o a trace and the city council decides to hire a famed detective, The Guppy to solve the mystery. He's getting too old so he hires the adventurers to assist. After gaining some info at a neighborhood spa, the heroes, w Tarekso, a local, go to a nearby house to look for clues. After a search, they hear screaming and rush to a kidnapping in progress and save a woman and her husband and down a trio of cultists in the process. They find clues on them leading to an abandoned warehouse. On the way to the warehouse, the party diverts to another warehouse with a burnt dead cat in it. The party almost figures out how to get out of the warehouse w/o summoning the evil Panther Wraith, but are not successful. Jackie Lee saves the day by tossing in the whole deck. Jackie finds a cool new headband. Upon reaching the target warehouse, the heroes encounter several more cultists who get away down a secret tunnel. The heroes follow and are faced with a trio of deadly traps. The first of which burns several heroes, the heroes avoid the acid rain but the third affects several with the rogue taking off all his clothes.

The heroes then enter the final chamber of horrors. Tarekso turns out to be the head cultist and is spilling the blood of commoners to summon an evil god. There are six other cultists who turn out to be wererats and a ton of prisoners. A tense battle ensues with a huge demi-god appearing and striking the heroes with its tentacles. With many of the heroes badly wounded, the finally dispatch most of the cultists with the remainder fleeing, stopping the flow of blood so the evil demi-god doesn't grow more. They free the commoners and flee before the entire chamber caves in.

20231215 Where There's Smoke
4th Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Alex, Corvo Attano Half Elf Rogue, Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Lily, Akagi Minotaur Cleric; Nami, Kai Deva Paladin, Soeun, Jun Changeling Wizard

The heroes are hired to dispatch a fierce Crimson Owlbear that is threatening a farmer's special crop. Jackie, Corvo, Lilly and Akagi are ambushed by Yagathal fanatics that followed them to the little village. With the help of Jun and Kai, the heroes defeat the fanatics and drive the wererat cultists off. They discover that a special coating can be made to protect them from the Owlbear so they buy some of the ingredients at a local shop and head to a nearby river to gather the rest. At the river, they negotiate with some goblins and obtain what they need when an archer they met in town fires at the goblins and a battle starts. The heroes manage to talk the goblins into a cease fire and everyone goes on their way.

Back at town, the party grabs a meal, plays some games and Lilly meets the archer again. Simiko leaves when Benji arrives and the heroes decide to get a fresh start in the AM. In the middle of the night, Benji wakes Lilly as his fields appear to be on fire. When the party investigates, they find Simiko stealing the crops. A fight breaks out with the heroes fighting Simiko and her hired hands. Suddenly, the same goblins appear on the southern flank, they are fleeing the Owlbear who is an enraged mother looking for her eggs. The heroes subdue, slay (anti-Paladin) or convince (some prior allies) the hired hands to desert. The owlbear grabs her eggs and leaves. Benji rewards the party for saving his crop.

20231229 Love Locked in Iron
4th Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Alex, Corvo Attano Half Elf Rogue; Lily, Akagi Minotaur Cleric; Nami, Kai Deva Paladin; Jacob, Hagrid Human Wizard; Grace, Irena, Human Paladin.

A goblin merchant, Ching, hires Kai the mighty warrior and friends to rescue his daughter Alya who was kidnapped by a Troll. A goblin scout arrives at the village w the location of the Troll's hideout, in a ruin of an armorer. The heroes set off and a second goblin scout tells of the existence of two alternate entrances to the lair. The heroes come across the site of a battle and face an evil Spirit wolf which animates a dozen undead. After a tough battle, the heroes defeat all of the undead.

Moving on, they crawl along a small tunnel into some dog kennels. They enter the complex by sneaking along a trench filled w urine. They raid a store room and find some explosives. Then find the main barracks and the front guard room. Corvo and Jackie bluff their way past the guards and end up outside. They run around to the kennel tunnel again and rejoin the group. The team then finds the torture chamber and rescue a were-rat named Bobby McGraw. She helps them by giving them the general layout of the place and telling them how many enemies there are. She also knows how to work the explosives.

The heroes then raid the pantry and Corvo and Jackie try to bluff their way past the kitchen. While the PCs are planning their next move, one of the chefs catches them in the pantry. The PC's quickly dispatch the four chefs before they can sound the alarm. The group then locates the smithy and defeat the Fireborn there as well as freeing the goblin daughter. The PC's plant the explosives and run for the escape tunnel. Just before crawling out, they detonate the explosives and bring down part of the complex. The heroes return the daughter and gather their reward. The Troll shall have his revenge.

20240102 The Wounded Forest
4th Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Alex, Corvo Attano Half Elf Rogue; Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Lily, Akagi Minotaur Cleric; Tom, Vecima Female Goliath Fighter.

Akagi's religious order requests help in a nearby village that is worried about the forest. The forest was wounded by an act of the order and is growing and has taken on an evil bent. On the way to meet w the leader of the order, the heroes are attacked by Vine Creatures and animals. They are asked to escort the leader of the order into the heart of the forest. With Akagi navigating, the heroes decide to enter the forest near an old shrine. They make a brief connection w the gods and travel further. They come across a pond, and then a battle site. The dead hunters come to life and after defeating them, the heroes delay and are attacked by spiders. Traveling even further, they come across a hunter's cabin, a talking hedgehog and then a town of pixies. They they find the missing priestess and the path to the heart of the forest. They find a huge tree and a tree spirit. They attempt to negotiate and Akagi is able to buy the party some time for the senior priestess to begin a spell that will heal the forest. Angry forest vines and the forest itself attack but the heroes hold them off long enough, w Akagi squirting holy milk at the enraged spirit, for the spell to complete and heal the forest.

20240323 Corruption and Contamination
4th Level - Kobe , Jackie Lee Human Monk; Alex, Corvo Attano Half Elf Rogue; Janine, Lilly Half Elf Female Bard; Lily, Akagi Minotaur Cleric; Nami, Kai Deva Paladin

The Blue Water Butcher escapes prison and a local contract lawman (gnome) asks the heroes to chase the criminal into the mines where a group of guards backed up by some miners have failed.  Gathering information at the tavern, the heroes decide to approach the central mine from an indirect route, avoiding any ambushes.  They make it to the production areas and come across some mining cars and decide riding in them would be easier than walking.  They fight off a dire dread bat and avoid crashing into a wall, or each other.   The minotaur cleric then slams its head into a pile of rats, splattering rat guts in a wide area.

They go deeper into the mines and ignore the "fake" Irina as well as an entire group of imposters.  The encounter a group of fake guards and convince them to hand over their fake prisoner.  They eventually arrive at the shore of a lake where they dispel the illusion of an evil witch opening a portal.   They find the real witch and negotiate a truce with her.  They then find the plant monster that is the source of the illusions and within its fog filled lair, finally dispatch it.

20240330 Nature vs Nurture (5th Level)
Kobe, Jackie Lee, Monk; Jacob, Hagard, Wizard; Jae, Chopper Fighter; Joe, Kavako Cleric; Aiden, Dragon Born Warlord.

The heroes are at a celebration of a mine being open for six months and suddenly six burrowing creatures burst into the celebration hall. The town folk and town elders scatter while the heroes and a few skilled villagers fight off the monsters. A druid appears and helps the towns folk. After the heroes beat off the monsters, one of the elders takes them to a nearby bar to discuss what should be done. The heroes play some of the games there, putting coins in envelopes, riding a ghost boar, and guessing riddles. As they are leaving, a huge pack of wolves is attacking the town. Again the heroes fight off the wolves with the "help" of the druid. The heroes meet with one of the town elders and decide to have a town meeting the next day. They contact more than thirty folk and five speak out very strongly on the matter. The Warlord presents the group's position and the elders vote unanimously to close the mine. The druid and two huge bears appear and Jackie leaps through the wall of fire and knocks out the mine owner, ending the fight.

The heroes then investigate the mine and meet a pair of crawlers and a wraith but out run them using mining cars. Chopper and Hagart nearly die when they crash into a wall. The party finds the deepest part of the mine and successfully resolve the source of the contamination, allowing the mine to continue to operate.
