No damage for enemies moving adjacent to Angel this turn since I missed with my Lion's Den attack(s).

Still get the +1 to defenses since that's part of the movement technique.

The Vamp to the E takes a MM that puts a fatal burn hole in his chest. He doesn't fall or dust though...

    Blade's turn...

Sounds like Blade has to use an encounter power or loose an action.

Of course now I can't reach any enemies with my melee weapon. I'll use:
Move: down the stairs 2 squares.
Minor: Use Darkfire on the one on the bottom of the stairs
Standard: Use a ranged basic crossbow attack on the same one.

    Darkfire
A flickering halo of purple light surrounds the target, making it easier to hit.
    Encounter
    Minor Action Ranged 10
    Target: One creature
Attack: Intelligence +4 vs. Reflex, Wisdom +4 vs. Reflex, or Charisma +4 vs. Reflex
Increase to +6 bonus at 11th level and +8 bonus at 21st level.
Hit: Until the end of your next turn, all attacks against the target have combat advantage, and the target cannot benefit from invisibility or concealment.

Jeff's question about marks got me thinking...

Ashe should be marking Mohawk, especially if he can't get to you.

Since a paladin mark is a blast 5 you can reach him. Even if you have to mark each turn that puts him at a -2to hit and he'll take radiant damage when he attacks someone else (...like me).

For some reason I thought my mark was only when I was adjacent to someone and the only time that was when I had to use my breath. I will definitely need to remember to start marking and I will certainly mark next round.

Blade moves down the stairs where Telgarth was,
Darkfire 13+1-=23 hit. Mohawk is provoking CA,
    Crossbow 15+8+2=25 hit, 8 hps

Mohawk draws his baton and 16+10=26 hits Telgarth for 4 hps.

Angel's turn '20'! must unlock something else. The Vamp next to you seems particularly juiced and (for some reason) you suspect he might take more that 1 hp to drop...

(then possibly more badies, then Ashe '4', then Telgarth '8', no unlocks)

Giles' training session - Page 3 Empty Re: Giles' training session

Post by Dwarmaj Fri Dec 03, 2010 2:04 pm

No problem, paladin marks are a bit more flexible.

    Divine Challenge (Hybrid)
You boldly confront a nearby enemy, searing it with divine light if it ignores your challenge.

    At-Will Divine, Radiant
    Minor Action Close burst 5

    Target: One creature in burst

Effect: You mark the target. The target remains marked until you use this power against another target, or if you fail to engage the target (see below). A creature can be subject to only one mark at a time. A new mark supersedes a mark that was already in place.

While the target is marked, it takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls for any attack that doesn’t include you as a target. The first time it makes an attack that doesn’t include you as a target before the start of your next turn, you can use an immediate reaction to deal radiant damage to the target equal to your Charisma modifier. The damage increases to 2 + your Charisma modifier at 11th level and 4 + your Charisma modifier at 21st level.

On your turn, you must engage the target you challenged or challenge a different target. To engage the target, you must either attack it or end your turn adjacent to it. If none of these events occur by the end of your turn, the marked condition ends and you can’t use divine challenge on your next turn.
You can use divine challenge once per turn.

As long as you attack (melee or ranged) hit or miss, the target stays marked.

Hmm, I believe I only have two things available to unlock (Second Wind and Five Storms)

I'll unlock Second Wind since I'm getting low on hp.

Move: use Lion's Den move technique and shift to flank Mohawk

Standard: use Second Wind to gain HP and +2 to all defenses. (a total of +3 to all defenses for the turn).

    Doh...

You guys need to roll better for your unlocks.

Is it possible to "aid another" for unlocks?

Yes, Angel has only 1 unlock left then he's fully empowered.

Angel shifts, uses 2nd wind, and gains 8 hits +3 to all defenses.

The 'dead' Vamp moves toward the front door. The juiced up Vamp now takes the 7 hits he didn't take from last round and 5+11+2=18 miss.

    Ashe, then Telgarth...

Ashe is delaying until the stairs are cleared.

Telgarth is glad he has his Oath working... 1+9+2=12 miss, or 16+9+2=27 hit for 11 hps. (Mohawk is barely up)

Ember's turn '3' no unlocks, then Blade '17' must use new encounter power, then Mohawk goes (only if both PCs whiff & he's still up), then Angel '2'.

Mohawk falls (subdual or lethal?) Blade's turn. Ashe was delaying until the Mohawk fell, which he just did too...

    Regardless,
Move to the closest enemy, or most bloodied one,
    Use
    Gloom Thief
As you slash at your foe, you seize part of its shadow, which you use to hide yourself from your enemies’ eyes.
    Encounter Shadow, Weapon
    Standard Action Melee weapon
    Target: One creature
    Attack: Dexterity vs. AC
Hit: 2[W] + Dexterity modifier damage. Until the end of your next turn, you are invisible while within 2 squares of the target.

Blade slips through the shadows down the stairs beside Angel and 13+9=22 hit for 11 hits and the Vamp poofs into dust. The last 2 dead Vamps are trying to flee out the door, but the party finished them off easily enough...

There is a dead Dragonborn still that Ashe recognized as his neighbor & friend of his parents. Laughter and occasional screams are coming from the basement (NW door), and no sounds from the kitchen (NE door).

No need for initiative just yet... What does the party do next?

    Can we use surges now?

Do you guys want to push forward and check out the basement?

I'll need to run up stairs to put some clothes on or at the very least grab a dagger or two.

Yes, you can use surges, donn armor, etc. It seems like the goings on in the basement are unaware of what just went on here. And yes, only Blade is dressed right now. Does Angel normally keep daggers in his room?

Probably not, but he would have shurikens. He's heavily into martial arts and has a nice collection of throwing stars.

Angel will go up to his room and get dressed.

He'll use two surges to get close to max.

He'll also get a few of his shurikens (six should be fine, two at a minimum).

Search the living room and corpses; then investigate the kitchen.

Through the dreamlike fog in your head from the Orpheus drug, you get distracted by a vision (think "the Mummy 2") of a Dragonborn warrior dressed in medieval garb from around 700 years ago with a Dwarf casting some sort of ritual on your sword & shield family crest. You then see them carefully remove 5 small ruby shards inlayed around a small yellow diamond from the hilt and place the precious stones in a hidden compartment in the backing of the crest. Once removed and hidden, some more chanting followed then you see the sword appear to tarnish up with small rust/wear spots that weren't there before. Then the vision fast forwards into a montage of different ancestors caring for and mounting the crest on their wall until you see you, as a small infant, watching your dad clean and remount the crest on the wall where it rests now...

You snap out of the dream/vision, still see a strange glow about your sword...

Sounds like Ashe needs to check his sword and the crest on the wall...

    Absolutely!

Ashe heads to the crest with a purpose and begins searching for the hidden compartment.

"I think it's time to go kick some vampire ass!"

Angel puts on clothes and gathers his shirikens.

Telgarth finds Ashe's neighbor has bite marks on his neck and blood on his lips. In the kitchen, he finds Ashe's father in the same condition. He also finds kithen knives and on the Human, (mohawk), he finds a pistol and a baton, and also has many, many bite marks on his neck, some of them fairly old. Telgarth, Ashe, & Ember are still in pjs.

Ashe takes down his crest, but doesn't find any secret compartments at all. Ashe then breaks the backing of the crest, and finds burried within the wood the gemstones he saw in his vision. Once placing inlaying them on the sword, they fuse into place, the small tarnishes go away, it sharpens up a lot, and swells with power. It swings much faster and cuts much deeper than anything you've ever weilded. Beyond that, you think it has even greater powers... (but haven't 'unlocked' them yet... Very Happy )

The party still hears laughter & screams from the basement, but the screams take on a different tone altogether...

What does the party do next? You all remember Giles telling you that you must finish the vision to wake up... otherwise, and also if you die, you don't wake up from the fevor/deam you're in.

    Is Ember damage/hurt?
Put on some black jeans , sneakers and black hoody sweat shirt.
Try and take a 5 minute break to relax. Before the next fight.
If she has time after that, she will get a knife out of the kitchen and sharpen one end of her short staff.
