Ferrence and Vren - Page 6 Empty Attack, Heal, Not Both

Post by Teramotos Mon May 11, 2009 7:05 am

Quinn, either heal or use second wind (adds defense) and maybe Candelos can get over to help you. Hang on for another round.

Quinn uses second wind and is at 28/67hp with 6/11 surges left.

Sonya moves (I though cover didn't allow for AoO, but couldn't find the rules for it). The footman takes an AoO and misses 19 vs AC.

Sonya flanks the footman and uses Brash Assult 14 vs Ac miss
The footman takes a swing at Sonya 28 vs AC hits for 8hp
Candelos swings at the footman 16 vs AC miss

Sonya uses an Action Point and repeats the attack
Brash Assult 23 vs AC miss
The footman swings on Sonya 22 vs AC miss (CA and cover cancel each other out)
Candelos swings on the footman 29 vs AC hits for 19hp (the footman is now bloodied)

Ferrence and Vren - Page 6 Empty Re: Ferrence and Vren

Post by Dwarmaj Mon May 11, 2009 1:06 pm

Miri is dazed and spends her turn sustaining her flaming sphere.
At the end of her turn, Miri rolls 14 and is no longer dazed.

Ferrence moves and makes two claw attacks on Thia
Claw 24 vs AC hits 15hp (9 temp and 6 real)
Claw 26 vs AC hits 10hp
Kaddim has Ferrence marked so Thia took 7 less damage...

Thia is at 9/60 hp (those temp hp helped a lot...)

Vren says something in Draconic (let me know if you speak draconic and I'll relay the message)

    Archers:
Human #11 shifts NW of his pillar and shoots at Kaddim
Bullseye 32 vs AC (critical) for 27hp (dazed save ends)

Nathan shoots at Quinn 21 vs AC miss (would have been a hit if he was still dazed...)

    Footmen:
    Human #10 swings on Kaddim
Pushback Strike 29 vs AC hits 19hp (Kaddim is knocked prone and is now bloodied)

Human #9 takes 5hp of damage from Quinn's Rain of Steel (3+2 for weapon enchantment I don't think other bonuses apply). Human #9 is now bloodied.
Pushback strike on Quinn 26 vs AC hits 11 damage. Quinn is pushed 1 square and knocked prone.

    Vren's turn
Vren touches his armor and his hands start to glow, you see his wounds healing...
Move action: shift east 1 square.
Standard: Viper Strike 23+2 vs AC miss

Candelos' turn, then Kaddim, Thia, and Quinn

    Here's the map

Second Wind gives you +2 bonus to all defenses.

The footman hits AC 26 (Quinn's is 22)
The archer missed your normal AC

I must have read his hp incorrectly.
At the start of the enemies turn Kaddim was at 65/71
The archer criticals for 27hp taking him to 38/71
The footmen hits for 19hp taking him to 19/71
Kaddim uses a healing surge bringing him to 36/71hp

    Sorry for any confusion...

On Miri's next turn, assuming no one moves in the way...

    Minor action: sustain Flaming Sphere
Move action: Move Flaming Sphere 3 squares E & 1 square N directly S of Vren
Standard action: have Flaming Sphere attack Vren (both he & Human should also take damage on the start of their turn for being adjacent to the Sphere)

Shift 5 ft west away from Ferrance

Action point (+7 HP from Sonya)
    Hunters Bear trap Vren
Hit 2d12+9 and target is slowed and 5 ongoing damage save ends both
Miss Half damage and target is slowed until the end of my next turn and no ongoing damage

    Minor
HQ Ferrance (Ferrance is the closest enemy and it might come in handy depending on what Ferrance does)

    Standard
Twin Fanged Strike Vren - If one or both miss then I will use Elven accuracy to reroll.

If Ferrance moves adjacent to me I will use Weave through the Fray to move around the corner from Miri.

Ferrence and Vren - Page 6 Empty After Thia - Quinn, the Sonya, then Miri

Post by Teramotos Mon May 11, 2009 10:28 pm

    hmmm...Thia's moving west.
Sonya will say as a free action "Quinn disengage and move east, you can't take them all yourself."
How badly wounded does Ferrence look? (IOW, does it look like Sonya has any chance of downing him with one blow or has he regenerated too much?)
Hmmm...Miri's action was to move the fire sphere so that it was directly south of Vren. That would be the exact square that Sonya would want to get to in order to give Candelos combat advantage. I'll have to see the results of Thia's turn and see what Quinn does before I go. Miri, you may want to see what happens too...

    Move: shift 1W
Action Point: Hunters Bear Trap 18-2(cover) vs AC miss
    Standard: Twin Strike
    #1 17-2(cover) vs AC miss
Elven Reroll: 24-2(cover) vs AC miss

    #2 28-2(cover) vs AC miss

Because of the pillar, Thia would need to be west of Miri to have a clear shot.

Hmm, I thought for sure I had a clear shot on Vren from that position if he is the char just to the south of Candelos.

If I had known I would have changed my minor action to use my bracers to ignore cover.

As a note, the hunters bear trap slowed Vren and he took half damage.

Thia would most likely have used it in conjunction with the daily power which missed even without the cover penalty.

I've updated Vren, he's now slowed and took 12 damage (half of 25 round down) from Thia's daily.

Is there a flaming sphere somewhere? Thats what I was worrying about the most since I want to charge Vren after a move.

I will use my daily power of my armor to push all enemies near my one square and then move west as far as possible then charge Vren from there.

Okay, that was a pretty darn good use of the armor, impressive.
Standard Action: Commander's Strike, give Quinn a free basic attack against Vren.
Move Action: Shift to the SW (only if it does not give the footman an AoO on me, otherwise stay in the square I'm in).
    Done. Miri's turn...

Standard action: move Flaming Sphere again directly blocking the hallway in the square where Quinn used to be. The Sphere takes up a square & the door is single wide, so that should block the entrance and keep the 3 Humans from entering the room until we down Vren (unless they go around & we still haven't dropped Vren yet...)
Free action: "By the way Vren, new deal... we're taking all the treasure in your former treasure room, no more sharing, you double crossing fool!"
Post Script: Sonya has cover from the footman, so she shouldn't get an AoO.

Ferrence and Vren - Page 6 Empty Shifting

Post by Teramotos Tue May 12, 2009 10:42 am

...I think the footman has an ability where if his marked enemy shifts, he gets an AoO. I do not think cover negates an AoO any longer. In 3.5, if you had cover, the enemy did not get an AoO. In 4.0 I think that all that cover does for you is give you a +2 AC if the opponent takes an AoO on you.

Also, I did shift and not move to further reduce the chance of the footman taking an AoO on me.

Yeah I don't care where Ferrace ended up I just wanted him away from me so no AoO. I was thinking someone said the flaming sphere was on vren thats what I was double checking. Now with my stance I should be hitting two people with 1W damage at the begining of ym turn.

Yeah, I just reread the cover section & I think you're right. I didn't see anything about AoOs in there. Learn something new all the time...

I was pre-posting my actions ahead of time but everyone else's actions made me alter what I did. Ken is marking the Flaming Sphere with a red square and I think it's in a MUCH better place than I had before everyone moved.

    Sonya's turn:
Move: Shift 1 square (no AoO)
Standard: Commander Strike, gives Quinn a basic attack
Quinn strikes at Vren 29 vs AC hits fo 10 damage.

    Miri's turn:
    Minor: sustain the sphere
    Move: move the sphere
Standard: move the sphere blocking the south hallway (nice move!)

    Ferrence's turn:
Move:Approaches Thia, but she uses Weave through the fray and shifts away. Ferrence continues his move adjacent to Sonya.
Standard: 2 claw attacks on Sonya
    #1 30 vs AC hits for 12hp (Kaddim's mark absorbed 7hp, Sonya takes 5)
    #2 26 vs AC hits for 8hp

    Archers turn:
Hunan #11 shoots at Candelos 20 vs AC miss

    Nathan's turn:
Move: You hear heavy footsteps and then see Nathan leap over the flaming sphere and land prone two squares beyond the sphere.
Standard: Nathan shoots Sonya 22 vs AC miss

    Footmens turn:
Human #10 takes a swing at Candelos 29 vs AC hits for 12hp
    Move: shift SW

    Human #9
Miri and Sonya hear heavy footsteps, then DOH! as the footman falls prone south of the sphere. The footman took damage from the sphere as if he had started his turn next to it. You hear cursing from the hallway.

    Vren's turn:
Minor: Inspiring Word on self (Vren is no longer bloodied)
Standard action: Viper Strike on Candelos 29 vs AC hits for 10hp
If Candelos shifts he provokes an AoO...
    Move action: Vren shifts west

Candelos shifts and takes an AoO from the footman
25 vs AC hits for 12hp (recless attack lowered your AC...)

Candelos uses Valiant Strike 22 vs Ac miss
Candelos heals Quinn using one of his own healing surges.
    Candelos 30/65hp 11/14 surges
    Quinn 33/67hp 6/11 surges

Kaddim's turn (he's prone...), then Thia

Note: Quinn was prone at the start of his last turn and shouldn't have been able to charge Vren. To make up for it, Quinn will loose his move action next turn. (I'd hate to rewind things and that sounds faire to me...)

Did I gain back the 7 HP from Sonya for using an AP?

If I am equidistant from two enemies, can I choose which one gets it? I believe the power states the closest enemy but what if they are the same distance?

Does the human next to Quinn provide cover to Vren from me currently?

Sorry, forgot the 7hp, added it and now you're at 16/60.

Yes, the footman does provide cover from your current position vs Vren.
If the power states closest and there are multiple targets the same distance, the you can select which one.

Ferrence and Vren - Page 6 Empty Chris'' Questions, Sonya''s Position

Post by Teramotos Tue May 12, 2009 2:06 pm

Yes, Thia gets 7 hits from Sonya's presence.
Yes, if two enemies are tied for closest, then you get to pick which one.
Ken, shouldn't Sonya be three squares to the west; I shifted SW, not SE as I was planning to move to Vren's west and hit him with Brash Assault.

Thanks! I liked it too... it cut off 1/2 their party & all their fresh reinforcements. That's the job of a controller. :-)

I'm really hurt so I am going to go for cover rather than get closer. I will move SW until I am at the wall. I believe I should be just SE of the left pillar.

Sorry about that, then Ferrence would have hit Miri instead of Sonya...

Here's a new map since I had Sonya's position wrong

    Ferrence and Vren - Page 6 Player55

    It is now Kaddim's turn:
He's going to use a move action to stand, but I'm not sure what he'll do with his standard action since he can't use booming blade.

If Ferrence attacked Miri, she would have used her immediate interupt power, Shield. That should negate the 2nd attack anyway, and last until the end of my next turn.
