Buffy-verse PCs with guns?

Brad, are you sure it's a good idea to mix 4E and d20 Modern?

A PC using a gun that does 2d6 damage will be doing a lot more damage if they can use the gun with a [2W] or [3W] power.

The majority of PCs can only make one attack per round in 4E. A PC with a multi attack power and a gun may become an issue. Especially compared to other classes which may not have the same options.


Just some thoughts...

I thought we were using the same weapons as in the 4e Books, but we would be allowed to re-skin them to be other items. (e.g. a crossbow is a pistol)

That's what I thought too... we can't do both?

Why would you do both? Just pick an existing standard D&D weapon and just state it's whatever modern one you want it to be. Just say your restricted to the weapons your class normally has access to.

Ok, bottom line what ranged weapons are available and at what prices? If we use current gun prices, most firearms are in appropriately expensive compared to their counterpart.

I would rather use a hand crossbow than a pistol in that situation. How about a compromise? Just change the critical damage of firearms to +2d* and extend their range *2. That would make them more reasonable to expend the $$$ and not change the game too drastically.

Just a thought.

I say just leave the costs as in the PH. We don't have to be realistic here. It is an alternate universe.

One of the issues I see is reloading. A hand crossbow must be loaded every round using a minor action (free action with a feat).

Looks like Hand Crossbows use a free action to load but requires two hands. A pistol would have a free reload, but not require an action unless you need to change clips.

Are we going to treat hand guns as hand crossbows with free reloading?

If you get two or more attacks per round and use a semi-auto can you can you fire multiple shots per round? Most PCs only get one attack, but there are several powers that allow for more (ie Twin Strike).

I don't think we need to use realism here. We can just say the way guns were made in this world require reloading as crossbows, or require two hands to use.
