    21 hours until dawn...

    As the party approaches Giles' car, Angel & Blade (both perception 21) hear Giles mumble quitely to himself, "Oh dear. Look at these young people. The world is doomed..."

    Giles looks worried for all of you since you've obviously been fighting and most of you are very stoned... (Ember noticed that he seems surprised & pleased that everyone's alive though)

    "See Blade, you can do it. Great job getting everyone back... Let's see if we can't help them now."

    Giles asks you what intel you've all gathered on the Casino, the layout of all the rooms, etc. He then asks about how everyone got high and about the fight.

    After evaluating the drugged Slayers, he tells you that it seems like a very dangerous ancient Vampire drug called 'Orpheus'. Vampires, being dead, are immune to poison, and since some were party-goers in life, they invented Orpheus, a part narcotic, part magical drug that not only gets you high, but also any Vampire that feeds off you too. Giles tells you that he's never heard of it being used on such a large scale. Normally when it's used it's a whole coven sharing a victim or two.

    He also tells you very clearly that it's not uncommon for people to die during the recovery. Giles loads everyone in the car, cranks the heat to max, and after sending Blade into a store in town for lots of fluids/drinks, he begins talking you through the rehab process...

    You need a lot of rest, fluids, warmth, plus a little magic and luck to break the fever... Giles unlocks his glove box, and pulls out a small charm.

    "Blade, I need you to be a guide for the others. The Orpheus drug will take them on a deadly trip before recovering. If any of their dream monsters kill them in their drug trip, they don't wake up again. I can put you in their hallucination so you can help them get out."

    He tells you again, "Remember, if a dream monster kills you while you're under, you just wake up from the dream. If something happens to them, they don't. Finish the nightmare, and once again, bring everyone back..."

    Giles parks somewhere secure, and with the heat still blasting, he starts chanting and spinning the crystal. The dazzle of the spinning crystal starts getting brighter, then shadowy, then bendy...

    Blade: You find you are not in the way too hot car anymore, but peering out through the crack of a hallway closet door in a house you don't recognize. You are dressed/equipped the same as you are now and hear screams and evil laughter from another room. You also see 4 Vampires opening 4 bedroom doors.

    Everyone else: You are back in your bed, in your bedclothes, exactly as the day Giles found you when your family was attacked, and the same Vampire you saw earlier in the week is standing in your bedroom doorway again. You again hear the screams of family members from another room. Absolutely everything in your bedroom is exactly as you remember, but the hallway is different, as there are way too many bedroom doors (leading to the bedrooms of the other PCs), but also, only Ashe recognizes the rest of the house (except for the extra bedrooms & the hallway closet).

    Your head is still cloudy, but are no longer finding everything hysterical, and your attention span feels normal.

    Hmm, so I'm in bed and there's a vampire in my doorway...

    If so:
    Move: stand
    Standard: charge the vampire (do any At-Wills activate?)

    Yes, and I don't know yet. I posted the intro to this encouter thinking we were done with the boys. We need to resolve that one first...

    Is my weapon near my bed/in my bedroom like it normally is? Am I wearing my holy symbol/is it near?

    Stand and attack vampire in my doorway.

    Angel is rolling incredibly for unlocks... rolled a '20' and since you've activated all your encounters, you can unlock 2nd wind, AP, or any at-will, but it must be used this round. If no one's in range or you can't use it, it still takes an action so you might not be able to charge, depending on what you wan to unlock.

    Let me know if you want to modify your actions...

    After that is Blade (who rolled a '7' and didn't unlock anything this round)

    Ember rolled a '1' (no unlocks), Ashe rolled a '4' (no unlocks), Telgarth rolled an '8' (no unlocks), and in this dream/reality, your heads still feel cloudy, but you're no longer stoned and can take all your actions each turn...

    Everything is exactly as it normally was, but most don't sleep wearing a holy symbol. I guess you can though, but you'd be a little strange... Seems more likely it'd be next to you on your nightstand, so you can pick it up with a minor.

    Does it sound like there are a lot of vampire in the hallway? (do I hear lots of possible enemies?)

    I'll unlock Flurry of Blows.

    My actions will stay the same. If I hit on the charge I'll flurry since its a free action that can be used after an attack.

    If the primary is down and there's another target in meleee range I'll flurry on it. If there's no target in range then flurry is lost this turn.

    Stone Fist Flurry of Blows
    You lash out at another enemy after your first attack, a casual reminder of your great strength.

    At-Will Psionic
    Free Action Melee 1

    Trigger: You hit with an attack during your turn

    Target: One creature
    Level 11: One or two creatures

    It sounds like there are many, many more... You can currently see 3 others standing in the bedroom doorways of Ashe, Ember, and Telgarth (though you note it strange that your old bedroom is in an unfamiliar hallway) and you don't see Blade. You hear a lot of commotion from the living room area & kitchen, and all of you remember about 2 dozen or so when your houses were attacked earlier this week... You're in a dream version of that same event.

    Angel wakes up, stands and charges the Vampire and finds the battle isn't going any better than the first time so far... 8+8+1=17, miss. Flurry of blows is activated for you, but no effect this round.

    Blade's turn...

    Blade moves from his hiding spot at the end of the hall and slices the head clean off the Vampire Angel just attacked, exploding into a pile of dust. (13+8=21 hit)

    Angel and Ashe's rooms are across from each other and Telgarth & Ember's same a little farter down the hallway, and a little farther down is the stairs to the living room.

    Ember will place her encounter power Orbmaster's Incendiary Detonation in the space outside the door between the 2 vamps.

    Attack: Intelligence vs. Reflex
    Hit: 1d6 + Intelligence modifier (+6) force damage, and you
    knock the target prone.
    Effect: The burst creates a zone of licking flames that lasts
    until the end of your next turn. Each enemy that enters the
    zone or starts its turn there takes 2 fire damage.
    Orb of Imposition: You can extend the duration of this
    effect, even though it is not an at-will power. If you do so,
    the area expands to burst 3 and doesn't affect you or your
    allies.
    +6 attack, 1d6+12 damage

    Vamp in your doorway 18=6=24 hit, in Telgarth's doorway 2=6=8 miss. The one you hit does not fall prone, but instead ignites into flames until there's only dust left.

    She's on your side... 13+6+1=20 hit for 10 hps. You thought for sure that your elbow to the neck should have dropped him, but he's still standing and not dust.

    Vampires' turn:

    Vampire in Telgarth's room "WTF!..." as he dodges magic after magic. He shifts to Telgarth and '13' miss. (both a claw and a foot tried to do damage, but you dodged them both)

    Vampire in Ashe's room: "You can't kill what's already dead!..." as he meekly backs away holding his neck where you clocked him.

    Up next:

    Angel: Unbelieveable! '15' must use new power
    Blade: '9' MBA or previous unlocks only
    Ember: '6' MBA or previous unlocks only

    You focus your wrath on a single foe, giving your attacks against it extraordinary accuracy.

    Encounter (Special) Divine
    Minor Action Close burst 10

    Target: One enemy you can see in burst

    Effect: When you make a melee attack against the target and the target is the only enemy adjacent to you, you make two attack rolls and use either result. This effect lasts until the end of the encounter or until the target drops to 0 hit points, at which point you regain the use of this power.
    If another effect lets you roll twice and use the higher result when making an attack roll, this power has no effect on that attack. If an effect forces you to roll twice and use the lower result when making an attack roll, this power has no effect on that attack either.

    Is the "walking dead" one blocking the hallway? Can we move through its space?

    Yes, he's meekly backing away from Ashe down the hallway. And, as no houses have 10' wide hallways, yes it is blocked. If it was an ally you could squeeze, but no, you can't move through enemy squares normally.

    MOVING THROUGH OCCUPIED SQUARES
    ✦ Enemy: You normally can’t move through an enemy’s space unless that enemy is helpless or two size categories larger or smaller than you.

    Moving into a nonhelpless enemy’s space provokes an opportunity attack from that enemy,
    because you left a square adjacent to the enemy.

    I believe we can move through its space.

    Re-reading the rules it looks like you can move through an enemies square. You just provoke an AoO from that enemy (or any other enemy who's threatened area you're moving through).

    It looks like you can only move through the space if it is helpless (which these seem to be) or you're two sizes larger (in which case you provoke an AoO).

    auto damage affects minions, right? Looks like that last guy's fighting to the end since he dies (again) if he moves...

    Blade has his stake, his leather jacket, his falchion, and everything he had on him in Giles' car. Everyone else, including the sexy Ember who's just learning to get her flirt on, is in their regular bed clothes, and beyond that have only the items that they grabbed last round.

    Hmm...
    According to the PHB it takes 5 minutes to put on armor

    PHB p212
    Putting on a suit of armor always takes at least 5 minutes, which means that it’s an activity you can undertake only outside combat (likely while you’re taking a short rest).

    Darn. Looks like the last Vamp did make it long enough for Telgarth to unlock his Oath...

    Good thing too. Telgarth's turn he grabs his sword that for some weird reason he kept by his bed (move), activates Oath (minor) and 4+9+2=15 miss, 13+9+2=24 hit for 10hps. Telgarth lops off the Vampire's head and it crumbles into dust. (Telgarth grabbed his holy symbol last round, so needed to grab his sword this round before he could attack with it.)

    From the top of the stairs, Ember can see the feet/shadows of many people in the living room beyond, and no one seems to be immediately rushing in this second, but you really doubt Ashe has 5 minutes to donn his motorcycle gear before someone does. There is screaming and maniacal laughter all throughout the house...

    So,

    Wait a minute or 2 up here for more to come (you think), or head down the stairs and go to them?

    2 notes:

    Everyone except Blade is in their pajamas (or whatever you sleep in) and has only the items that they grabbed these last 2 turns. Ashe started donning his armor, but Angel & Ember tell him they don't think he has that much time...

    I'll be away from my computer from pretty soon until around 8pm, so we'll have to wait until then for me to post the next wave of baddies (or the next room) and/or answer any questions then...

    If he gives it to me I'll start heading down stairs.

    Otherwise I'll try kicking down a door and make a few stakes of my own.

    Is donning regular clothes the same 5 mins? I at least want shoes. Who knows where we could be going from here?

    And I keep my sword in my room because my parents didn't like it left around the house.

    Telgarth is putting on shoes, Ember is watching from the top of the stairs, Blade gives Angel his stake, and then Angel (14+10=24) very stealthily moves to the bottom of the stairs to get a better look:

    You hear from your right, "...Stay up here." and a door close. The 4 Vampires to your left you have good cover from and seem to be enjoying themselves, the 2 straight in front of you only don't see you yet because you hid so well and they're watching (hooping, hollaring) while their friend slowly feeds & torments the bloodied Dragonborn (Dragon token). The Mohawk token looks Human and is not wearing a Vampire face and is solemnly standing at the front door.

    Note: My hand drawn 'T' thingys are closed doors. (Better map than upstairs though... I'm tinkering around with Maptools & getting better with it.)


    Angel can take a free standard action as an ambush round or fall back up the stairs.

    15+5=20 and Angel makes quite the entrance indeed as a Vampire in the center of the room bursts into a cloud of dust...

    Vamp from E: moves and attacks Angel 11+11=22 hit, slashing your chest for 5 necrotic, followed by a kick to your side for another 7. "Oh goodie, someone worth drinking..."

    Vamp from S: "Looky, looky... I think there are more fiesty ones up the stairs!" moves to stairs and 10+11=21 hit, for 5 necrotic +7.

    Ember's turn next '15' and her staff of defense activates, then Blade (no unlocks)

    Note: Angel's head is still fuzzy and dreamlike, and you now see an odd glow eminating from Ashe's sword & shield family crest mounted on the wall to the W.

    Also, did you re-roll iniative? I thought mine was an ambush attack.

    Did they beat my initiative and I go again after they go?

    Yes, after your ambush round I rolled initiative for everybody and you rolled in the middle of the pack.
