Battlefield Bad Company 2 for the PC

It's a one timeexpense.
There should be a single player mode you can play. (more for practice)
Or you can jump into the online multiplayer mode and shot-up by 12 year olds like Scott.
It will be a fast/high pace/fun first person shooter.

You should do a little of the single player to get used to controls, but as soon as you can start playing multiplayer. You can become too used to the single player game to the point where it hinders you. If you goto SteamPowered.com you can buy and download the game and start playing right away.

You can get your ass shot up like I am.

It took me until level 3 to really the the hang of things Mick, but I've been playing Rambo style and running in on Rush games trying to get the win, so I tend to die alot. I usually get quite a few points doing repairs, ammo and medic heals and rez's.
Working on engineer right now, and once I'm done with that I'll have all the class unlocks, then I won't care what classes I play.
Brad and Stu, hurry up and get in the game.

One of the fastest ways to get your level up is to use the accessories. Liberal use of ammo packs for assault, med packs for medic, and the repair tool for engineer.

Speaking of the engineer, once you get the repair tool if you find a good tank driver and be their gunner/repair guy you can really rack up the points. Make sure you jump into their squad for even more points.

Rush maps provide for some decent experience as well since they usually go longer than the conquest maps and you can get the pins and insignias. If you are the defenders make sure you press q when looking at the flag and that will send a defend order and you then get 30 points per kill for a flag defense.

Another good way to do things is to grab other peoples gear. For a while David would grab my kit when I died and then revive me to give me his. I didn't like the exchange nearly as much as he did.

By the way, you have to get out of vehicles and actually use the repair tool to fix things. It's not like BF2 where you could follow them in another vehicle. You can only throw down one Med and Ammo Pack at a time. If you throw a 2nd one down the first one vanishes. Usually I find a sniper and throw one or the other down at his location. Easy points right there.

Last night I think I got 11 awards in one game. It was pretty sweet. I think I only killed 5 people that game too. Helping others gives lots of points.

Alright, I'm meeting a new resident tomorrow night around 6, then cooking & eating dinner, but after that I plan on installing & playing the new BF2BC game I finally bought! Who can play tomorrow & when? Let me know, I'll be playing.

Oh, and since it's a new computer, can someone forward me the link to download Ventrillo (or whatever we're using to talk)? ...and any passwords/server names I need?

I'll probably be on tomorrow night around 10:00.

Yes, we use Ventrio. Ross would be the best place to get PW/Server info.
You may want to install tonight to play tomorrow. It's about an Hour to install and install the latest updates.

That was my plan, but I was thinking an hour to install BF2 AND Ventrillo... maybe my estimates are off. :-(

Vent will take about 5 minutes to install but you will need to download it. Not sure if you are on broadband or not but it is a very small file.

The install and update process for a large game like BF2 can be time consuming but it can be done while doing other things. I would also highly suggest you play at least the first single player mission to get used to the aiming and the movement keys. The game play in the multiplayer is different though so don't get too used to it. Little more twichy since they are out to get you too and they will have more weapon options than you do.

Stu, when are you going to get on to BF2BC?

Took me a lot longer than an hour... I didn't notice my sleep mode was only 15 mins & it kept shutting off on me.

I now have Ventrillo installed, but I haven't tested it. I also spent a couple hours playing last night on single. I'm getting killed a lot, and the Sarge kept yelling at me to "use my binoculars to mark the target" and I'm still not sure what I did to switch to binoculars, but I got past that encounter, but I'm getting better at switching to scope & sniping from long range. It's definitely a lot of fun so far! Can't wait until you guys tell me how some of the unlocks work...

Great Brad. Now that your in you can add all of us.

In the main menu you'll see a menu bar on the bottom left hand of your screen titled 'FRIENDS'. Click on that and it will pull up a window. On the bottom click the +ADD FRIEND button, and do a search for each of us and do a SEND REQUEST to add us. Once we get the request we will add you and we'll show up on your FRIEND LIST.

Then you'll be able to see if we are playing, and you can just select us to hop into our game, and onto our team and squad if there is room.

Brad and I played today and we got him all set up with Vent and added all of you as friends. Make sure you accept him. He is Malachai or something like that. We played a hard core deathmatch and he actually got a kill. I showed him the different classes and starter equipment and HUD basics so he should be good to go tonight.

Here is a little tutorial. It has lots of info. It's for XBox 360, so the button combinations he's talking about will not work for the PC. Use your manual to see what keys to use. Pay particular attention to the Spot button (Q). Most players don't do it, which a lot of times can cost you the game.

Fun time tonight everyone. We had 7 people playing. Now if we could just get Stu on we could have 2 full squads.

Holy crap that was a lot of fun! I can imagine that'll only get better once I figure out what I'm doing... but I only got skunked on kills once!

Yes, it was tons of fun. Can't believe we played for almost four hours. I enjoyed when we were beating up that clan on their server.

Brad, it will only get better the more you play. I'm still a noob at this game. I have a good feel on how to play but don't know the maps gadgets well enough.

Stu, you need to get on. If you thought BF2 was fun you'll find BF2BC better.

I prefer:
Assault - M416 or XM8
Enginner - XM8C or AKS-74U
Medic - M60 or PKM
Recon - SVU Short

Shotguns - Saiga 20G or USAS 12G
Assault - AN-94 or M16 4x scope on both
Engineer - AKS-74U with a 4x scope
Medic - M60 with a 4x scope
Recon - M95 with 12x scope

EDIT: Just noticed that my sig shows three of the weapons I use constantly. Over 5000 kills with the M60 now.

Assault: M416 with the 4x scope
Engineer: AKS-74U with the AM Upgrade
Medic: M60 with the 4x scope
Sniper: VSS if running around or the M95, both with the 12x scope

Me. Played one. It was pretty cool.

Wasn't able to get on last night. I was having Security program issues that wouldn't let me access the servers. Didn't get it fixed until 11:30pm last night. I'll be on tonight though. From what I played of those big maps it was a lot of fun.

I played Oasis for about 5 round. It was a nice map. Big with lots of buildings.
I did pretty well. K/D ratio over 1.0. I think the main reason is because it's so new.
People don't know the choke points or the spawn camping spot.
