The R&D rules are in the Missions Chapter p144.
There are currently two R&D projects underway.
Finding the cure for Jadid:
The people of Jadid have had their DNA manipulated by Sekhet (daughter of RA).
The changes to their DNA causes:
* Increased longevity in women
* Increased Constitution & advantage on Con saves
* decreases birth rate of male
The crystals found on Jadid hold many clues as to what was done and how to provide a cure.
This a Tech level 4 project so it requires 8 DC20 Medicine check (for future checks, someone trained in Science may assist)
Each check may be done at the completion of an 'away' mission.
For every multiple of 10 over 20 on the roll counts as an additional success.
If the project is successfully completed:
Being primary or assisting in 4 successes yields 1MP
Being primary or assisting in 6 or more successes yields 3MP
Zat'Nik'Tel reverse engineering
The party found a damaged Zat'Nik'Tel in the sarcophagus of Sekhet and elected to try and reverse engineer it.
This is a Tech level 3 device and requires 6 successful Engineering or Science checks at DC15
On successful completion of the project:
The team will have access to a "Zat Gun"
It will have the same statistics as a Zat'Nik'Tel, but anyone with proficiency with a sidearm will have proficiency with it.
Note:
There are many other R&D opportunities available, but a PC can only be involved in one check following a mission (whether being primary or assisting)
Other projects could be:
* Making grenades detonate on impact
* Enhance armor materials to increase AC (Trinium instead of Kevlar?)
* Different types of ammo for more or speicalized cases (Armor Piercing, Hollow Point, other???)
