Mounted Combat question...

If you make a charge while mounted, is your mount protected from an AoO if you're wearing a BotB?

I wouldn't think so. If one PC is carrying another, the protective items from the PC being carried don't apply to the PC that is doing the carrying... I'm thinking you'd have to purchase a BotB for your mount.

Can mounts wear/use slotted items that aren't specifically for mounts?

And if they can use them, are they considered charging when they're not the one making an attack at the end of the movement?

I would think that mounts could wear/ use items that are not specifically for mounts.

Hmmm... the second part of your question is tougher... I'd say that if the rider is using the rider's movement to move the mount and the rider and the mount are part of a charge where the rider or the mount is attacking, I'd tend to allow items worn by one to affect the other regarding charging only.

I'd have to see the specific situation to be sure. For example, if the mount was part of the charge and the mount had an item that negated opportunity attacks during the movement of the charge, then I'd say the rider would not incur AoO from the charge's movement. If the rider had an item that increases damage on a charge attack, and the rider had the mount move as part of the charge, but the rider didn't not move (except for being on the mount) then the rider could make use of the increased damage on a charge.

However, I would NOT allow the rider having an item that gives an unnamed bonus to damage during a charge and the mount having the same item and then the two items stacking - No, I would NOT allow that. I might even go so far as to say if the mount and rider had items which were in the same slot; e.g. the rider has an item that benefits charging in the neck slot and the mount has a item that benefits charging in the neck slot - I may not allow such.

Again, I'd have to see the specific combo before making a ruling.
