Pretty safe guess on what the powder is, and yes, you think the oven has dusted a Vamp or Humanoid probably around 1x/month for a year now, best you can tell.

Vala seems a little disappointed that you can't lead her to any magic item finds, but very happy that she's found some Vamp killers to hang around. You think she's spent a considerable amount of time investigating and finding old magic items...

Check to see if she happens to have a slayer tatoo.

Does she want to continue on with us or head off with Giles to take care of the others?

She is wearing a cocktail girl uniform, which doesn't cover a lot of flesh, but you don't see any markings of the Zodiac like the rest of you have. She does get flirty with you as you 'check her out'. She doesn't mind either way... It makes her happy to see Vamps dusted, but she is bloodied and she used her only healing surge already (not a PC so only had 1).

Angel tell her that it would be best if she went to help take care of the others.

I'll also ask Selena and Vala if they have been up stairs past the gambling area.

I'll put on my new equipment, then pass out potions to the other PCs
    Angel (4 healing)
    Blade (4 healing, 1 invisibility)
    Ember (4 healing, 1 invisibility)
    Ashe (4 healing)
    Telgarth (4 healing)

    Everyone ok with this?

Before she helps Giles escort a bunch of barely clad waitresses to crash with a bunch of very lucky Vampire wannabe's, she answers, "So far all the known ones have been recovered from burried Toknosfar sites. Preserved in the hopes of someday being used again in the now covert struggle between the living and the Undead. Most have been found in chests with books telling of the 'Time of Living', before the Dark Ages brought about by the Vampire High Council of Covens exactly 1,000 years ago to destroy all knowledge of magic (& the Undead) among the living..." She then walks up close enough to seductively trace her fingers across your stomach, which is pretty close since she's a Halfling, and adds "Now you remember to be equally as forthcoming when it comes to treasure or stories of magical treasure!..."

Mick wrote:I'll try a religion check to bypass.

You need a trained Theivery + trained Religion checks, both DC15, otherwise any living creature passing within 10' is attacked, Ember 11+11=22 success, Blade 8+6+4=18 success.

Upon reaching the main gaming floor, you find it completely deserted. You see broken furniture and food & blood everywhere, but no people, no money, and no chips anywhere. Upon looking where the elevator was, you also note that there is just a casino wall both there and where the main entrance was.

Upon heading up farther, you see on the door at the top of the stairs has another severed finger with writing on it nailed to the door. Again, would attack anyone living in range but Blade 8+6+4=18 sucess, Ember 13+11=24 sucess, and they again figure out the correct saying to bypass the trap.

The stairwell leads to a small coridor with a big double door at the end, or continues up to the top floor where it starts to curve and the steps become engraven.

The double doors are unlocked and peering in you see a large foyer area with a couple office/bedrooms and a large conference room. (A very similar size/layout to the casino floor, actually. Smile ) If you peer in closer, they might be able to spot you all too, but from where you are this is what you can safely see. In the large conference room you see a few Vampires & 1 hot Vampiress around the table talking, but you can't quite hear what they're talking about because of the hum of the money counting maching that they're all standing, sitting around watching. You can see a couple full and empty boxes of the newly bundled bills on the table. The doors to the offices are closed and you can't see in.

No initiative yet until someone goes in... who does what next?

(...& of course you can use the newly found items.)

Can you post a map of the area?

Is there anywhere close (within 4 squares) where we might have concealment from conference room?

Someone may want to use an invisibility potion and get closer. It only lasts for a turn, but if you move to a concealed area you can remain hidden (and no penalty if you only move 2 or 4 with a move/move).

You can't see them in 'Player View' because you don't have LOS, but you can hear the people described above in the big NW conference room (the double doors to foyer is open). The doors to the other 3 rooms are closed. The double doors where you are are unlocked but closed. You barely cracked them open to take a peek. The layout looks exactly like the casino floor except there are no glass interior windows on the walls.

If we move quickly we may be able to create a bottleneck at the conference room door so they all can't come out. But who knows how many will come out of the smaller rooms.

If we decide to go for the room to the north, I think Blade should drink an invisibility potion and go first. That way he can unlock and/or open the door without being seen. Then we can move across quickly.

I'd hate for something to cut off our exit.

Barely cracking it open, Blade sees 2 small 3' statues of spearmen with odd faces next to the door, a desk, a large sarcaphogus with 2 Vamps feeding near it, the 2 victims they're feeding on, and what looks like 2 more recently dead bodies.

Right now the formerly locked, closed door is barely cracked open just enough for Blade to peer in. Opening the door so the party can see in will also alert those inside and will end non-combat rounds. (Perhaps Blade shouldn't have been able to crack open the door without alerting them anyway, but I was trying to save time plus I wasn't positive about the rules.)

Blade's turn is before mine since he want ahead and unlocked/opened the door. I'll have to wait to see what he does.

I believe the NPCs have to use their passive perception to see if they noticed the door was opened a little.

If they haven't noticed us then we get a surprise round.

If we get a surprise round them I'll either use a move or standard depending on what Blade does.

Against a DC10? DC15? It doesn't seem it ought to be tied to stealth of the PC, since you're not trying to hide from view, but trying to move a large object (door) in plain view of the NPCs...

They could be busy or otherwise occuppied. (penalty to their check)

If the door is noisy (bonus to their check)

I think our stealth would come into play. Maybe they notice the door is slightly ajar, but don't hear anything from the other side.

Waiting on Ashe & Ember, both whom haven't posted their actions for what we'll call 'turn #1'.

    "Turn #1:
When the door first opened, did the NPCs detect the door opening or Blade? <No indications you have been detected.> Could they detect the party? <You don't think so, but as I said, I'm not sure I am ruling that right; cracking open a door that NPCs knew was locked (& closed) might auto start initiative rolls but that's not how I roleplayed this encounter.>

When Angel moved up to the door did they notice? <Not that you can tell>
When Telgarth moved up did they notice? <Not that you notice>

We're assuming they didn't notice since no NPC took an action. <good assumption... probably>

    Turn #2:
Are the NPCs aware of the PCs before Angel's action? If not I believe we get a surprise round. <Again, you have no indication that you've been spotted at all.>
Since the door is unlocked and partially open, do I have to use an action to open the door farther before I move in? <Nah, at worst we'll consider it difficult terrain for the first one through.>"

I think our stealth would come into play. Maybe they notice the door is slightly ajar, but don't hear anything from the other side. <But if the occupants are sure the door was locked, not hearing noises outside wouldn't lessen the alarm to find it open. If I'm sure I closed and locked the front door of my home, not hearing noise would not prevent me from checking it out.>

How often do their bosses or anyone else come in?

At work I face the door and would definitely notice if it were opened. Another guy at work faces his window and usually works with an iPod playing. I have to go in and tap on his desk before he notices I'm right behind him.

I think it's really going to come down to what you have the NPCs doing at the time the door was opened and what DCs you set.

Not sure how far I am away from where the rest of the group is and/or where the bad guys are. If I am less than one charge away from them I will keep where I am. If I am out of charge range then I will move to where I believe I could get at least get a shot off on some of them (10 squares away). Being Stealthy of course.

As of right now, only Blade can see, but they're doing what I posted... feeding. Unlike the other encounters, Blade sees a couple finished off victims though too. All the rest were careful not to finish off (yet) any of the victims.

The party moves into the large empty foyer to the N door.

Blade, you feel your invisibility is almost up and it's your action. You can still hear the money machine going in the large conference room to the W, and you see the N room through the barely cracked open door. The whole party seems to know where you are despite your invisibility, but as far as you can tell, no NPCs have noticed any of you...

Free: I will use an Assassin's Shroud on one of the feeding Vampires.
Standard: Executioner's Noose on the same one I Shrouded.

    Executioner's Noose
You gather shadows into the form of a noose, cast it around your foe’s neck, and pull.
    At-Will Force, Implement, Shadow
    Standard Action Ranged 5
    Target: One creature
    Attack: Dexterity vs. Fortitude
Hit: 1d6 + Dexterity modifier force damage, and you pull the target 2 squares. The target is slowed until the end of your next turn.

Hopefully you don't block the doorway...

A picture would be nice so that we can see what is where.

Blade takes full advantage of his invisibility and 16+6+2CA=24 v Fort, and the feeding female takes a mortal wound but is still walking, talking.

The male Vampire immediately reacts and attacks Blade. The Eladrin the woman was feeding on tries to slow him down by punching him as he went by, but sorely missed. The Vamp on the other hand, 14+11=25 hits Blade, for 5 hits + 7 flurry.

After the male Vamp who was first, initiative is:

    Angel 25
    Blade 22
    Ember 22
    baddies
    Ashe 10
    Telgarth 10

    Angel's turn.

Hmm, is the door 5' wide with an NPC blocking the way so that we can't get in or attack (with melee)?

Did Blade already go this round and I'm below him in the order?
