Dungeons and Dragons Online FREE

DDO changed their business model. They will no longer be charging monthly for it.
It still uses 3.5 rules, and is set in Eberron. Here is the DDO FAQ.

You still need to buy the game though, but it can probably be found for fairly cheap.

Just read the FAQ and all I can say is interesting. Basically they have made all the low level content free to play and added a store where you can purchase modules, hirelings, additional character slots as well as other more convenience based items for sale. I wonder how much they cost for the modules because that is really all I would pay for. Character slots maybe.

It also appears that there will be a free download of the game so you don't need to buy it. However, it also seems that the new DDO Unlimited will not be released until Sept 1st for their VIP's (paying customers) and Sept 9th for their free to play customers.

You can download the game now, instead of doing it when it goes live on Sept 9th. Usually games have lots of traffic when they release it, so this is away to avoid the rush if your going to play on the first couple of days.
