...if any of you saw Wolverine, tell me if you liked it. As a separate issue, let me know if you think I'd be 8 year old appropriate. Keep in mind, Kobe spars against other kids and adults four days a week, plays BF2, and has seen all the Star Wars and the first two Matrix movies. No spoilers please...

Re: Wolverine - Request for Review
I saw the movie with Jorren on Saturday. He liked it, though he did come out of the theater with quite a few questions...
Jorren rated the movie 7 out of 10
I gave it a 6...

Re: Wolverine - Request for Review
I enjoyed it as well. 4 out of 5 stars. Would have given it 5 of 5 but still don't like how they handle characters compared to how they are in the comics. Iron Man, Hulk and Spider-man seem to try to stick to things a lot more than the X-me movie. They just kind of ignore all the existing info and go off on their own.
I would say it's not age appropriate for an 8-year old, but you've already let him watch rated R movies so he's probably desensitized to violence now anyway.

Re: Wolverine - Request for Review
My sister saw it & liked it a lot, but said there (obviously) is a lot of people getting stabbed, and a lot of people getting killed, so she wouldn't feel comfortable taking a kid to see it. She's not a martial arts dad though. What movies, as examples, would you say is over the line in terms of violence? It'd be nice to have some sort of benchmark to guide us.

Benchmarks
Saving Private Ryan and Gladiator are definately over the line for an 8 year old. I'll try to think of some that are near the mark but either just over or just under...

Re: Wolverine - Request for Review
Lots of killing but no blood, except for a scene where the person was pretending to be dead, but I'd think to a kid that's even worse. From their point of view the stabbing isn't hurting anyone, and then they can't wait to try it at home with the kitchen knives.
