Recap 20220415_Assault on the Tower of the Spider Queen - Team A

After escaping the dungeons of one of the noble drow houses by a gnome and kobald blasting a hole in the wall, our heroes find themselves at the base of the Tower of the Spider Queen.  After some study, the groups is able to bypass a guarding ward and advance up to a large iron door.  Setting off the alarm, a huge ghost spider assaults the group and part way through the fight a drow soldier peeks out the door to assess the situation.  Kazoo! gets past the door with Bannor’s help and Kazoo downs one of the two guards and Bannor causes the second to surrender.  The rest of the party, after a harried fight, dispatch the spider.  The group moves up to the stair and overhear a number of guards gambling.  Bursting in, a quick fight follows and the few guards are out of commission with Greselda downing both the drow Arch Mage and elite Swordmaster.  Kazoo and Pax each downed one of the remaining guards.  Beyond the guard station is a kitchen, and a cloak room where the group finds a green egg.  In the prayer room ahead, the heroes battle the rest of the priestesses, with the high priestess vanishing right away.  In the tough fight, Pelor’s favor shown through as Krizdev radiated three of the priestesses, with Kazoo ambushing a forth and Bannor axing a fifth.  Bannor also smashed a magic animated floor creature that came to life and tried to suffocate the party.  

The group then heads upstair and finds a number of living quarters and blockades those doors.  They manage to gain entry to the library of the drow city and find a few books of interest.  Beyond the library, they locate the quarters of the drow leader but only fight her illusionary image and her pet spider.  Returning to the landing room, the heroes are attacked by the remaining couple guards and priestesses.  Moving further up the tower, they enter the top of the tower where a giant drider guards the spider nursery.  After an epic fight, Greselda downs the drider (after being told by Sardu where to strike) along with three large spiders with Bannor also downing three large spiders, Krizdev two, and Kazoo two more.  The party recover a yellow egg from the nursery and head back to the altar room.  Using the three eggs, they plane shift to the abyss where they battle an avatar of Loth herself.  Using all their resources and striking quickly, the heroes combine to dispel her form and with the blessing of the drow goddess of moonlight, return to the material plane.
