It looks like we were going everything correctly by the end of the night.
Here are some of the rules I could find:
Example:
Let me know if you guys have a different interpretation...
On Round 1
Standard Action: druid cast Summon Crocodile (range 5) and can give the Standard Action Attack command at the same time.
On Round 2
Minor Action: The Crocodile power doesn't list a move action so the caster must use a minor action to have the croc move up to 6 squares.
Standard Action: use Croc attack
The Intrinsic action won't kick in if move action is given.
Or the caster can forgo the Minor/Standard and allow the Croc to use it's Intrinsic action to move on its own.
Notes:
1. The summoning description states that if no Move action is listed, the caster can spend a minor action to have it move. Since the caster is spending an action, I believe they would have to spend a minor action for each summoned creature they want to move this way.
2. Spending a Standard action for the summons to attack is only useful if there are no creatures in range.
If no creatures are in range, the caster can spend a Minor and a Standard to have the Croc move and attack.
If a creature is in range, the caster can spend is Minor and Standard using other powers and rely on the Croc (Instinctive Effect) where it'll attack on it's own. This is nice since other summoners usually don't have this as an option.
3. A Summoned creature only has Opportunity or Interrupt Action if they are listed.
4. If the summoned creature drops to 0hp, the summoner looses a healing surge or HP if they're out of surges. This could be costly...
