Item Set question... Empty Item Set question...

Many item sets give you additional powers/abilities based on the "number of items you have from this set."

Do you have to be actively using the items or just have them on your person?

    Example:
    Arms of Unbreakable Honor:
2 Pieces - When you or a mount you ride charges an enemy, you or your mount gains an item bonus to speed equal to the number if items you have from this set.

5 Pieces - When you use your Lay on Hands power, the target regains an additional 5 hit points.

    Items in set:
    Bradaman's Weapon
    Bridle of Flame
    Mirrored Plate
    Pennant Helm
    Shield of Fellowship
    Unbroken Lance

The items in this set are pretty bulky, but other sets have shoes, amulets, gloves and other small items.

In the set above, if you had Bradaman's weapon sheathed and Mirrored Plate worn, would you get the "2-piece" item ability?

I'd think yes, from what I've read here, but I haven't done much looking into it beyond this though.

A more interesting question would be the bridle (or other mount items). Would you have to be riding your mount for these bonuses, can you be in an adjacent square, LOS, or what?

Hmmm, it is easier to manage if the character is only required to own the items and have them on him (or his mount), or in the general area.

There are some sets that give pretty nice bonuses or abilities, but the items themselves are subpar.

They are costly so a PC won't have a too many items they don't plan on using and you can only benefit from one item set.

Just wanted to hear what other thought about it...

I would think you'd at least have to have the items on your person, or in the case of items that are used on a mount, you would need to be riding the mount or the mount would have to be in the next square.
