    Thia can't see the skull. You have to be on the platform since it is tiny and purposely staying near the ground.

    Assuming both shots will be at Karvakos unless Thia wants to run onto the platform...

    Wasn't Thia's second shot supposed to use Elven Accuracy to reroll the attack?

    Move: Attempt to escape the grab.
    Standard Attempt to escape again, or Crawl to the SE, dropping to the floor and then crawl E.

    That was when it was against the Skull. If she wants to use it against Karavakos she can... She missed with a 12+13=25, less than 50/50 she'll hit on a retry.

    DR 20 vs Ac hits for 15hp of necrotic damage. Sonya is pushed 1 into the pillar. The pillar has already made a grab attempt on Sonya this turn and doesn't get another.

    Move: move N around Sonya and up onto the platform provoking an AoO from Sonya

    Sonya MBA 23 vs Ac miss


    The party no longer senses the location of the Skull...


    Sonya's turn...
    Sonya starts her turn next to the pillar which tries to grab her.
    Grab 34 vs Ac hits for 16hp of necrotic damage. Sonya falls unconscious.


    Candelos' turn...
    Candelos starts his turn next to the platform which tries to grab him.
    Grab 30 vs Ac hits for 12-5hp of necrotic damage.

    Yeah I really want that skull gone since it can hurl those fiery rays and I am one of the only ones who can take it down.

    No Elven accuracy this round. Next round I will see what i can do to maybe take down the skull. Otherwise I will focus on karavakos since those bones are destroying us.

    Forgot Miri slowed him, Karavakos could only move 2.

    Sorry, "fat fingered"... it was 30 vs Ac. Yeah, Sonya AC is listed at 24 with a light shield and 25 with a heavy shield.

    Move: attempt to break free (Candelos is +4 in Acrobatics and +6 in Athletics). From other PCs attempts you know the DC is 24 to break free.

    Athletics 9+6=15 failed.

    Sorry, you can't grant my 2nd Wind as I already used it, but you can make a heal check to Stablize the Dying.

    Standard: use Deathstorm (catching Candelos, Kaddim, Miri, and Sonya)
    DS vs Candelos 19 vs Fort miss
    DS vs Kaddim 33+1 vs Fort (critical) hit for 24hp of cold&necrotic damage. Kaddim is pushed next to the pillar and is unconscious.

    No grab attempt is made since an attempt was already made this turn...

    At the start of Candelos' turn he takes 5hp of cold&necrotic damage from the Deathstorm.
    Candelos starts his turn grabbed by the platform and takes 5-5=0hp of necrotic damage.

    Note: Since Sonya took damage even while unconscious you believe the pillar/platforms will still grab/drain an unconscious PC...

    At the start of Miri's turn she takes 5hp of cold&necrotic damage from the Deathstorm spell.


    Standard: cast Ray of Frost at Karavakos
    RoF 19-2 vs Fort miss (The Deathstorm spell is hard to see through -2 to attacks due to concealment)

    Minor: grab Sonya

    Move: you're unable to move Sonya since she is grabbed by the pillar. Best you can do is try and pull her out of the grab.

    Athletics 9+4=13 failed.

    Miri was unable to free Sonya from the pillar.

    I don't think you can use items while unconscious. If it were an ongoing property then you'd benefit, but you can't trigger anything at the moment.

    The staff adds since the power specifically says it does.
    The shard doesn't count since it affects damage rolls
    The feat doesn't count since it affects damage rolls

    Miri casts Magic Missile and deals 9hp of damage. Karavakos falls...


    When Karavakos falls the party hears, in a wispered/fading voice:
    "Forgive me Vyrellis my power consumed me.

    Listen adventurers, you don't have much time for I am not the true Karavakos. I am merely refection of him. As I fade his power grows and very soon he will have enough power to escape this prison. And when he does your fate will be s..."

    Karavakos the black dies and the party sees a black cloud of mist form over his body then rapidly move south out the door.


    Thia's turn is next and she easily slays the floating skull.


    When Karavakos died the energy of the pillars/platform disapates and is no longer grabbing PCs.

    Miri and Thia will try to give synergy bonus to Candelos' rolls. Miri will also use 3 surges to get full up.

    Thia is +9 in heal which means she needs a 6 or better. She will try to stabilize Sonya while Candelos works on Kaddim. Miri can give the synergy bonus to Candelos.

    Assuming Candelos will work on Kaddim.
    Miri will aid another to help Thia stabilize Sonya

    Candelos' turn, Heal check 2+11=13 failed

    Miri's turn, Heal check 9+4=13, success in aiding Thia
    Thia's turn, Heal check 1+9+2=12, failed

    Kaddim's turn, Death Save=8. Kaddim has failed two death saves

    Sonya's turn, Death Save=16, success

    Candelos' turn, Heal check 16+11=27. Kaddim is stable

    Miri's turn, Heal check 10+4=14, success. Miri helps Thia
    Thia's turn, Heal check 15+9+2=26, success. Sonya is stable.


    After a short rest Kaddim and Sonya regain consciousness with 1hp.

    How many surges with everyone use?

    During the short rest the PCs can feel the pyramid shake as if there was an earthquake, then everything settles down.

    If we think we can rest for maybe 20 minutes, we should have Sonya use her powers so we get the most that we can out of our Healing Surges (e.g. IW and Rousing Words)...

    Sonya will give priority to giving Kaddim the benefit of her healing powers as he seems lowest on surges. I'll make myself the second priority (next lowest on surges). Number of surges I'll use depends on if we rest for more than 5 minutes or not.

    The party takes a second 5 minute rest. During the rest the pyramid shakes much more violently than the first time.

    Gauging by the frequency and magnitude of the shakes, the party believes you have an hour or so to find a way to stop Karavakos.

    During the first rest a PC checks Karavakos body and finds:
    A ver nice robe
    3 gems each worth 500gp
    A golden key with an inscription in Dwarven "Strength second."


    If you have about an hour do you want to spend the time optimizing healing?

    During the second rest Miri is able to ID the robe (actually it's a cloak).
