    I think that's right. She started the action, so gets a standard action only for her surprise round, and that's what the rest of us are reacting to. She must also have a screaming high init is all...

    ...both sides are aware of the other, so I agree, no "surprise" round, although she does get to go first in the initiative order.

    Yes both sides are aware of the other, but the action has to start somewhere.

    Since she is initiating the first attack
    Either she gets a surprise round (one standard action which she used to teleport)

    or

    Initiative is rolled and anyone before her doesn't get a turn and she starts at the top.

    She did happen to roll the highest (+10 Initiative) and goes first.

    The party is aware of her and even thinks there may be a battle coming up, but if we rolled initiative and the party rolled higher was the party going to attack first or wait for them to make a move?

    Candelos seem to be the only one stated he was ready for a attack. The smallest flinch would have sent him in to battle. If he would have rolled higher then her, he wouldn't wait.

    Minor: Promise of Storm
    Standard: Lightning Lure on the one to my South. (If I hit use the Daily Flaming power of the sword)

    If I have an action point:
    Standard: Lightning Lure on the same one. (If I hit, and haven't already use it, use the Daily Flaming power of the sword)

    Surprise only occurs if one side is not aware of the other. If Candelos had a ready action he could have taken it if the trigger was her doing an action.

    Thia moves east until she sees something other than a blade. She then moves south and/or east as far as she can go and still have a shot at the knight.

    She uses Hunters Bear Trap - Searched back through and didnt see anywhere that I used it since the last rest.

    She will use Elven reroll if she misses.

    If she has an action point she will use it to Biting Volley and Elven Reroll if she didn't need it on the hunters bear trap.

    Candelos didn't have a ready action, he was ready for an attack, but had no action readied.

    The caster's action wouldn't have changed since she could have teleported first, then attacked instead of teleport, attack, teleport.

    I think you did that right. You can't have a readied action before combat starts.

    The "smallest flinch" was her teleport action, and her +10 init still made her quicker on the draw after that. There is no "he wouldn't wait", because we were waiting, for them to make the first move during all those rounds of parley. I'd have ruled the same way.

    ...correct, there is no "ready action" before combat starts. I agree with Brad. The caster gets the first action and everyone else is in initiative order.

    Yes, Candelos and Kaddim would get an AP after their last encounter.

    Kaddim uses an Action Point

    free action: with OHOM, say to the party, it looks like they trying to lure us into pursuing them and hitting us when we are on the ice.

    One knight is missing though (if Kaddim shared that with us) so he might be out grabbing Breeze. We were attacked first while we were trying to rest.

    I think it's more likely the 3rd knight was always in that NE room and the witch teleported back into his LOS for shielding.

    Minor Action: Try to open.
    Standard Action: If the door opens, throw shield or make a Basic Attack vs any enemy within range. If the door opens and there are no enemies in sight, ready action to swing or throw at any such.
    If the door doesn't open with my minor action, use standard action to attempt to break down the door.

    I can't post maps at the moment. The kids are home today and on the computer. I can't run MapTools while they're on because it takes too much CPU/RAM. I'm running Maptools on my laptop that I have with me Smile.

    When Sonya looks at the door to the east she can tell that it has been nailed shut. There are spikes going from the outside into the ground and into the walls. It would take several rounds to try to break through.

    ....hmmm I was thinking of using it as an additional avenue of attack, perhaps allowing a way to come at them from an unsuspecting direction. If a dragon comes in the front, it can also be an escape route.

    Standard: Sonya begins hacking at the door with her axe

    Thia tells Sonya to wait and they are now discussing whether or not the door should come down...

    Caster's turn:
    Standard: Cast Winter Winds on Kaddim
    WW 20 vs Ref hits for 10hp of damage. Kaddim is teleported east (2E 1SE).

    Move: the caster teleports east into the NE room. She is currently 5 squares east of Kaddim. Kaddim and Candelos can just barely see her.

    Kaddim's turn:
    Kaddim starts in ice terrain...
    Icy Terrain 15 vs Ref miss, Kaddim does not fall prone. (I'll post a new map when I get home...)

    Thia has a shot at the yellow knight, but he'll have superior cover since you're shooting through two doorways and a wall is blocking more than half of the token.

    Does Thia have an item power action? I know I used my armor in the mangler fight but since then we have had two short rests.

    If I do have an item action, I will use my bracers to ignore cover and biting volley (score crit on 18 -20)

    So:
    Minor: HQ the yellow knight
    Move as a minor: Use Bracers
    Standard: Biting Volley

    Your token shows that you've used your Serpent Skin armor. But since you've had one milestone you should have another daily item usage.

    Hmm, I highly doubt Thia would have though resting here would be a good idea then since it is hazardous. Thia has a 90% chance of failure on the endurance check.

    There are no enemies in sight (well Candelos can see a small corner of the caster's square 9 squares away. Would be a tough shot with a ranged attack.

    The eladrins will go back to the dragon lair.

    If the PCs want to pursue, let me know...

    You may rest in the eladrin rooms, but may suffer from the cold.

    Or you can try resting in one of the other locations cleared.

    I say we change locations just to throw them off (we could even stay in this area, at least switch to a different room). If we suspect they are going to return, is there a place that we could set an ambush?

    The small "pillars" in the NE room are waist high blocks of ice.

    The "curtains" in the casters room block LOS and take a standard action to move through (if you're not an ice eleadrin...). They also deal cold damage if you try to pass or put your hands into them.

    There are no doors/corridors in the "icy" area that the party hasn't explored, that the party knows of...
