Re: Pyramid - Level 2
Someone should stay here (Miri at least) so if there's a sign of Candelos, someone will be around.

Sonya, Thia, and Kaddim head back to the stairs to get the harpy's body...
The have no problem getting to the stairs, getting the body, and getting back.
Kaddim and Sonya toss the harpy's body into the mouth, thud.
The mouth does not close and the harpy's body stays inside of the mouth.

That sounds like the same plan Candelos had (teleporting)... Didn't work out too well for him

Can you cast a light on an object? If so throw it on a mundane item and throw it into the mouth as far as I can throw it, and look for any signs of candelos.

I will enter with the light then. If I see any sign that the mouth will start chewing on me I'll teleport ahead if I can see a clear area, or back out if I can't.

Kaddim walk forward to where the light is. Immediately, the mouth slams shut.
It begins chewing and the party can hear Kaddim yelling and cursing. Then all is quiet.
When the mouth opens Kaddim and the harpy's body are gone. All that is left is bits of flesh and feathers.

Lesbian orgy - Its the only fitting memorial for our fallen guys.
I find it odd that the flesh is there but the equipment is not.
We can either trust that this is some sort of twisted demonic teleport or we can try to find another way around. Was their other passages we could go down?

Re: Pyramid - Level 2
...before we check out the hall with the seven demon faces, Sonya wants to carefully check out the two areas in the hall that we're in that I'd describe as "notches". There is one to the West of the demon archway if you're looking south and another notch behind Sonya to the north. It's those two locations where the walls turn in an otherwise straight hallway. Looking for control panels, secret doors (to where Candelos and Kaddim went), anything unusual. Will take 20 if I have to (we're not in a hurry are we?) and accept aid.

Thia would suggest that she checks since she has higher Perception.
Thia takes 20 and is assisted by Sonya and Miri.
No control panel, secret door, or anything else is detected.

...man, this looks like a trap if I ever saw one; check. If we find nothing, proceed to the doors and either unlock and go in, or just bust them in, after listening for three rounds or so; maybe we can get lucky and actually surprise some monsters.

The masks are attached to the wall and are 4' tall.
It is possible to attach a blanket, but it'll take a couple of rounds. While doing so the PC will not have weapons out.

Re: Pyramid - Level 2
Yeah, damp blankets over them would be a good precaution. One of us do that while the other two stand guard. I nominate Miri (good AC and wouldn't normally need a weapon anyway) to put up the damp blankets or other cloth (e.g. bedrolls).

We should presumably each have a bedroll, which is a blanket at long as we are tall. I would say we can only cover 3 of the 7, but we should be able to fully cover those 3. Miri will do this.

Teramotos wrote:Sonya two squares more to the south in order to block the charge path of any monsters comming out of the double doors to the SE.
When Sonya moves south two squares, the doors on the east wall open. Two deformed humanoid creatures come out and attack.
Beserker #1 Greatsword 23 vs Ac miss
Beserker #2 Greatsword 21 vs Ac miss
After the beserkers go, Sonya can see a smaller deformed humanoid standing in the doorway. He wispers something and points at Sonya.
Mind Worm 25 vs Will hits for 5hp of psychic damage. Sonya is slowed (save ends).
The initiative order for the party is Thia, Miri, then Sonya.
Miri had time to cover one of the masks for one round. It is covered, but not very well.
Thia's turn, then Miri.
Oh, forgot to mention... Sonya is now -2 to Will defense (save ends).

Daily ✦ Arcane, Conjuration, Fire, Implement
Standard Action Area wall 8 within 10 squares
Effect: You conjure a wall that consists of contiguous

to the wall takes 1d6 + Intelligence modifier fire damage.
If a creature moves into the wall’s space or starts its turn

Miri's turn:
Miri delays... Though she may want to reviser her choice of powers...
After Miri goes the manglers...
Two deformed humanoids appear out of the mouth of the NE mask and move into flanking positions around Thia. One attacks Thia and the other attacks Miri.
Each of the manglers have four arms and have a dagger in each...
Manger #1 on Thia uses Dagger Dance.
DD #1 22+2 vs Ac hits for 11hp of damage.
DD #2 28+2 vs Ac hits for 14hp of damage.
DD #3 29+2 vs Ac hits for 13hp of damage.
DD #4 29+2 vs Ac hits for 13hp of damage.
Thia is hit four times for 51hp of damage. Ouch...
Mangler on Miri also uses Dager Dance.
DD #1 22 vs Ac miss.
DD #2 27 vs Ac hits for 7hp of damage.
DD #3 14 vs Ac miss.
DD #4 20 vs Ac miss.
From inside the mouth adjacent to Miri a creature uses a dagger and cuts a whole in the blanket.
When the manglers appeared, all of the maskes animated and started begging for food. They also bite at any adjacent characters.
Each of the manglers and Miri take 5hp.

Re: Pyramid - Level 2
Oh, Sonya gets two AoO, one on each mangler.
AoO #1 25 vs Achits for 14hp of damage, miss.
AoO #2 24 vs Ac miss.
Sorry, I forgot the get extra AC vs AoO. Both attacks miss.
Sonya's turn, but you may want to wait and see if Thia wants to use an interrupt...

It's my turn again? What happened from my last turn. Also, I can't see the map here at the office. Are the berserkers with the greatswords next to me to the south? If not, I'll likely move north and help Thia. Am I still affected by one or more conditions.

It wasn't your turn yet...
The full initiative order is
Beserkers, Grue (caster), Thia, Miri, Manglers, Sonya.
Sonya has a beserker to her SE and SW.
Miri has a mangler to her W (in the mask) and to her NE
Thia has a mangler to her S and N.

Re: Pyramid - Level 2
Yeah Thia wants to use an interrupt for some strange reason.
On the first hit of dagger dance she will use her interrupt to shift 5 squares N going around the north one.

Thia uses Yield Ground to shift away from the mangler.
To her surprise the mangler shifts with her and keeps attacking. Thia was still hit four times, but the mangler only had combat advantage for the first attack. Since these creatures do more damage when they have combat advantage Thia didn't take 23 of that 51hp.
Thia has a managler to her south and is currently at 37/65hp.
Now Sonya's turn, then Miri can take her delayed action.

Sonya's Turn
Minor Action - Shake it Off (the slow) make Save vs. Slow at + 5 (my CHA bonus) this is a power bonus and should stack with my + 2 vs. Slow from my amulet (item bonus) for a total of + 7. I guess I'll worry about the -2 vs. Will later. I need to know if I'm still slowed before I take the rest of my turn. Also, if I miss the save, I have to decide to use my Circlet or not to reroll.
Ken, yes, the separate file you sent me for the map is readable; much thanks.
Free Action: Say "Miri! Retreat to the north and then cast what you were going to cast?"
Wanna make sure what Miri plans to do before I move (if I'm unslowed).

Sonya uses Shake It Off and rolls 16+7 and is no longer slowed (the -2 vs Will also goes away).

Re: Pyramid - Level 2
Brad, it's (the rest) of Sonya's turn and I can move now if I need to. Note, if I move, I'll provoke two AoO, but in our situation, it might be worth it. I can also shift and then move. I assume you want to move north toward Thia. I'm not too afraid of provoking AoO from the dagger guys as I can't imagine them getting more than a single dagger strike for 1d4+4 as we go by them (if we have to go by them). Let me know what you think our best course of action is... I say move a little to the north and blast the area with the Wall of Fire.
