Stu or Mickey do either of you remember the name of the MAC game we use to play?

The game was similar to Risk and we played by linking the MACs together?

I'm trying to find a similar, updated version of the game. But can't remember the name.

...was it "Strategic Conquest" ?

Did you play Full Metal Jacket?

Aren't those games pretty much like the Warcraft 1 & 2, as well as StarCraft?

Hmm, never played Warcraft or Starcraft...

I may have to get an old copy and try them out.

I got all the way to the end but didn't beat the final encounter.

Starcraft is definitely the ultimate of the 3 games. Very fun and easy to learn. Actually, so are the Warcraft strategy games.

Even though Starcraft has been out for 10 years it's still one of the top Strategy games played currently. It's less about the race (and abilities) you have and is more about your strategy.

I love the real time strategy (RTS) genre. There are a ton all differing slightly with my favorites being the Dawn of War series, Starcraft, and the Age of series (Mythology, Empires, War).

I have the original dawn of war with no expansions and would love to get DoW2.

I played Age of Empires also and Warcraft 1 & 2.

Yep, have Warcraft and Starcraft and Starcraft is the best. Yes, Strategic Conquest is where you take over cites, instruct them what to build and then mass your forces to defeat the enemie(s). It was in black and white and the possible forces were, armies, fighter planes, bombers, destroyers, subs, carriers, and battleships.

Anyone want to load up the old Starcraft games and play sometime. I think we can just loan Ken one of our disks to load it onto his computer, and he could play without it.

Oops. Guess you do need a disc, but you can download patches so you don't need one.

I went down to my local GameStop and found a copy of StarCraft+Expansion for $20.

I'm loading it onto my PC now. Hopefully I can load it on several of my PCs so the kids can play as well.

Maybe we could all get on sometime this week or next. I'll have to dig out my disks.

Doh! can find my copy of Starcraft. I must of gave it away.

Just noticed mine is missing too. Loaned it out and now can't remember who I loaned it to.

I don't have a copy anymore so I have been contemplating that one but I don't really want to buy it for just a game or two.

I agree. If we all play it I'm willing to get it as well. We could play some multiplayer vs the computer.

StarCraft 2 comes out someday though, however, who knows when. They don't have any time frame for it.

I have several other RTS games and would be willing to buy one that everyone gets like some of the recent good ones that I haven't played.

Age of Mythology
Dawn of War 1 - No expansions
Homeworld2 - Space RTS

Games I would like to try:

Rome Total War - $10
Company of Heroes - $20
Civilization IV - $20 (Strategy game but more civ building than unit building)
Empire Total War - $50
Age of Empires III ~$15 - Not on Steam so not sure if it is digital download.

I'm not really into learning a new game unless Ken is willing to play. He's the one who originally got me into online gaming, and I haven't played with him since, and barely played with him then.

I'm not going to grab one unless everyone else gets the same game or at least a good number of people. I want to play with people more than I want to do a single player game.

I do have a copy of Civ IV but I'm not sure I can play online with it. I borrowed it and used an ISO to mount the CD but I don't have the discs anymore.

Still waiting for Diablo 3 or Guild Wars 2 to come out. But that looks to be at least a year away.

Next online game for me will be The Old Republic. Going to be a pay to play but man it looks good.
