    All encounter power have been refreshed.

    What will the PC order be?
    Who will open the door?

    Thia checks for traps, but didn't find any.
    Thia listens carefully at the door, but doesn't hear anything.

    Just so we don't forget I have quite a few rituals learned, do we think it might be hot in there? If I cast 2 endure elements rituals, we can get everyone (but it will cost gold...)
    If not, regular SOP with Thia in the back with me sounds in order.

    At the top of the stairs there is a stone statue. The statue looks to be of a demon or devil with "bat-like" wings.

    The party cautiously advances...
    When Quinn gets to the top of the stairs he sees an identical statue against the west wall.

    He also notices a door to the south and a door to the west that goes north.

    Quinn and Kaddim check the door to the south. The door is not locked and neither one of you hear anything.

    The pair move west and the rest of the party files into the room.

    Quinn makes it almost to the end of the hall, then...
    The floor you're standing on suddenly tilts wildly as the wall to the south falls away. Both pivot in such a way as to hurl you down a shute to the south. The stench of rot and decay emerges from the chute as you go hurtling down it... affraid





    The other party members looking on see the floor pivot up and become the new south wall. A new floor is pivots up.

    Standing on the new floor are 6 very large rats.

    On Miri's turn she'll cast 'Scorching Burst' on the closest 2 rats to her and yell out, "Boys, can you hear us? Are you okay?", 5' step North back out of the room a little bit. done.

    Miri can yell out as a free action even though it's not her turn.

    Thia will HQ and Twin Strike the closest rat. If she can't quite see where she is at, she will shift 1 square east.

    ...assuming Miri does the action she posted earlier, it would be Sonya's action next.

    Move Action: Move north to the square west of Miri (next to Miri).
    Free Action: Say "Candelos, not quite that far north...we'll get em!"
    Standard Action: Ready Action: If a bat comes within striking range, use Brash Assault + 11 1d12+5.
    If the bat chooses, it can take a free basic attack on me at + 2 to hit but note, if I hit it, it is - 2 to hit me because of my armor, so it would be a wash. If the bat swings, Thia gets a free basic attack against the same bat and Thia has combat advantage for the one attack.
    Free Action: Yell "Thia, get ready, I'll knock the first bat upward, then you shoot it!"

    Rat move/charges Sonya 23+1 vs AC hits for 5hp
    Rat #4 move/charge Sonya 29+1 vs AC hits for 5hp
    Rat #2 move/charge Miri 24 vs AC hits for 5hp
    Rat #1 move adjacent to Candelos, his readied action kicks in
    Candelos Holy Strike 30-2(cover) hits for 12hp, rat #1 is killed.

    Yep... waiting for Miri to go first since I didn't expect the bats to go before us.
    Miri could also delay, hoping that I at least take out one of the ones in front of her before she does her magic.
    Man, that one was lucky it charged, barely hit.

    When the first rat attacks, Miri will use 'Shield' for +4 AC. That should make both rat attacks miss & keep her from losing 10 hits.

    Hmm... they all did exactly 5 hits & everyone that got hit fell... we'll save our bigger powers & just swing our staff (basic melee attack) at the northernmost rat. Since Thia is worse off than me, I'll forgo my move & minor actions. Done.

    Standard Action: Use Hammer and Anvil at the one to the NW so that Miri gets a swing on it also if I don't down it. Miri is also at + 4 damage.
    Move Action: If Miri or I down that one, I'll shift into that empty spot, giving Candelos a flanking bonus.

    If Thia shifts 5 feet north onto the stairs, can she still see the rats? Either way she will twin strike two rats, she would just prefer not having them take an AOO. If they do get an AOO remember that she has defensive mobility for +2.

    If you shift onto the stairs you won't be able to see the rats.

    Thia stays where she's at and uses twin strike on two separate rats. Note, the rat to the south has cover.

    Most auras don't stack. But some monsters have entries that state that their auras do stack.

    For these rats, the description specificly states that a character takes aura damage from each adjacent rat.
    Unlike the harpies that had a range of 5 or 10 for their auras which would be deadly. The rat only have an aura of 1.

    ...Yes, I confirmed that like auras from creatures do not stack, unless the monster description says otherwise; like these rats.

    Move Action: Shift one square south.
    Standard Action: Use Commander Strike and give Candelos a free basic attack.

    Also take a look at Chillborn Zombies, their aura stack too...

    Sonya shifts and uses Commander Strike to give Candelos a free attack.
    Candelos swings 16 vs AC miss (this is one tough rat).

    Yeah, I guess that would overrule the general rule then. Oh well, just checking (& hoping to get some party hps back!)
