    Quinn and Kaddim are walking across the corridor confident that their fellow party members will cover them.

    As Quinn crosses the corridor the floor gives way just a bit and he knows he's stepped on some sort of pressure plate.

    The floor you're standing on suddenly tilts wildly as the wall to the south falls away. Both pivot in such a way as to hurl you down a chute to the south. the stench of rot and decay emerges from the chute (steeply sloped to the south) as you go hurtling down it.

    Quinn and Kaddim both take 1d10 damage from being catapulted.
    Quinn takes 7hp of damage
    Kaddim takes 3hp of damage

    Both of you find yourselves sliding down a steep slope into what looks like a pit. Each of you needed to make an Athletics check to avoid falling into the pit (10' deep).
    Quinn skill check 14+2(adjacent to a wall) failed, Quinn takes 1hp of falling damage.
    Kaddim skill check 16 failed, Kaddim takes 8hp of falling damage.

    You're not alone...

    In the pit with you is a large tentacled beast surrounded by sewage and parts of decaying corpses. From the description the arboreans gave you, you think this may be the Charnal Lord...

    Neither side was aware of the other so I've rolled initiative. Quinn, Charnal Lord, then Kaddim

    Round #1 Quinn's turn...

    Notes:

    1. I didn't think the rats would delay the party for so long. At least its two defenders trapped. I think it would have been much worse if a different pairing were trapped.
    2. Quinn and Kaddim note that the stench from the beast is overwhelming. Because of this, your attacks are at -2. (aura 1)

    Oh, Quinn used his move action alreay (which triggered the trap). Quinn has a minor and a standard action remaining.

    I really don't care because I am near the enemy so I can attack and I don't want to move but the action that triggered the trap was before initative and so in my opinion was not during this action and was the previous "round". Just wondering what everyone thought.

    I will attack with my most powerful daily and if it hits I will use my action point (I think I have one) and do it again with my next powerful daily.

    Quinn has the following powers...

    1, At-Will: Cleave
    1, At-Will: Reaping Strike
    1, At-Will: Sure Strike
    1, Encounter: Steel Serpent Strike
    1, Daily: Lasting Threat
    2, Utility: Pass Forward
    3, Encounter: Sweeping Blow
    5, Daily: Rain of Steel
    6, Utility: Unbreakable
    7, Encounter: Sudden Surge

    I'm guessing the most powerful daily is the level 1 daily? The level 5 daily is a stance you can activate using a minor action.

    So, did you want to:
    1. Use the level 1 daily then an encounter power?
    2. Use the level 1 and 5 daily in your normal turn, then an encounter power during your extra turn?

    I'd hate to guess on your attacks and guess wrong and have to redo things.

    To speed things up I went with your level 1 daily...

    Lasting Threat 21 vs Fort miss

    (Note: I forgot to give everyone an AP since the sahuagin battle was actually the second encounter, the party negotiated through the first...)

    Quinn's power was reliable so he uses his action point and tries again.
    Lasting Threat 27-2(stench) vs Fort miss.

    I'd agree. I'd say if your action triggered the trap, then you'd automatically go later in the round instead of miss your movement. In this case I think it'll work out the same anyway though.

    Here I agree with Ken. He has enough responsibility controlling all the NPCs, he shouldn't have to control your PC as well. We've been playing online for months now, how long will it take you to learn Quinn's powers? I mean really, from Ken's post you have a whole two daily & two utility powers to choose from...

    Here I agree with Ken. He has enough responsibility controlling all the NPCs, he shouldn't have to control your PC as well. We've been playing online for months now, how long will it take you to learn Quinn's powers? I mean really, from Ken's post you have a whole two daily & two utility powers to choose from...

    I have to agree with Brad. Players should know thier characters!

    Neither Quinn or Kaddim is trained in Nature and I'm not sure if you have to spend an action to gain the info or not...

    I rolled Nature checks as it's a free action (Quinn 6, Kaddim 7). You don't know what the creature is or its capabilities.

    Kaddim marks the creature, shifts, and uses Booming Blade

    I will do reaping strike.

    Per the not knowing the character, Quinn is secondary and so its on the back burner. I didn't make him which means most of the knowledge I WOULD of had on the character I don't because totaly tifferent build from Sean. I BARELY give Sean enough time before games so now you know where Quinn fits. I don't spend a lot of time on DnD stuff during the weak.

    I use reaping strike again. Remember when I miss I still do 3 damage (strength mod because its two handed). I will use my move to try and get free of his tentacal (I think thats allowed) and then I will also use my martial stance daily as my minor so the enemies next to me start taking 1W damage at the begining of my turn.

    Move: Quinn uses a move action to try to break free. Athletics check (9) vs Fort miss. Quinn is still grabbed.

    Standard: Reaping Strike 24-2 vs AC miss

    Reaping Strike does 1/2 Str modifier damage on a miss. Quinn strength is 19 so his strength modifier is 4. The Charnal Lord would have taken 2+2 damage from the two missed Reaping Strikes.

    Minor: Activate Rain of Steel

    Charnal Lord:
    Standard Bite on Kaddim 16 vs AC miss

    Kaddim's turn... (looks like it's going to be a long battle)

    Would a fair paraphrase of this be, "I'm very busy and my time is more valuable than Ken's"? I notice you make time to argue his rulings as GM. For me, there's no fun in roleplaying without learning my character (or NPCs if I'm the GM).

    On my next turn I will:

    Is there not a save for the necrotic damage?

    Begining of my turn: He takes 1W damage because I am new him and I have my martial stance on.

    Sorry, no save. Quinn notices that the damage he's taking is because of the grab. Quinn takes 5 necrotic damage, the monster heals...
    Quinn tries to break free Athletics check (Cool vs Fort failed.
    The stance did 9hp of damage, I've subtracted it from the monster.

    Charnel Lords turn
    Standard: Bite attack on Kaddim 22 vs AC miss

    After the Charnel Lords turn it's Candelos.

    Candelos uses a move/move action to get into position for Miri to trigger the trap.

    Miri's turn, Miri already used a move action to get onto the trap area and had readied an action to trigger it once Candelos got into position.

    Miri triggers the trap and Miri, Candelos, Thia, and Sonya are catapulted into a shoot. Each PC takes damage from the trap and must make an athletics check to avoid falling into a pit.
    Miri takes 5hp, Athletics check 13 failed, Miri falls into the pit and takes 9hp of damage. Miri and Quinn are forced into the same square.

    Candelos takes 3hp, Athletics check 21 failed, Candelos falls into the pit and takes 10hp of damage.

    Thia takes 7hp, Athletics check 22+2 failed, Thia falls into the pit and takes 2hp of damage.

    Sonya takes 9hp, Athletics check 21+2 failed, Sonya falls into the pit and takes 7hp of damage. Thia and Sonya are forced into the same square.

    The party is together again, but at the bottom of a 10' pit with a flailing beast. Thia recognizes the monster as an Otyugh, but his one seems a bit more deadly than normal ones of its species.

    Someone use a toarch or a flaming arrow and see if that will hurt him more. It seems he keeps healing the small cuts I am doing but not sure what will stop him from healing these cuts. (I will let DM decide if this is an accurate IC statement Quinn can say).

    Quinn can say it... He doesn't know what type of damage is best against this creature but fire is commonly used to fend off creatures.

    Thia is still in DoD audit mode so I will try to use this post to do most of my attacks

    Thia will move away as best as possible to not provoke AOO's and use HQ and Twin Strike.

    If there is an large attack that just hits someone she will use Disruptive Strike as an Interrupt to deal damage and hopefully make it miss. IE not a regular attack but something like an area effect attack or something similar. I will try to watch the thread to see when she would use this

    Standard Action: Use Commander's Strike, give Candelos a basic attack

    Question for the DM: If I were to shift to the SW, on the next turn could I shift NW (note, I'd be shifting diagonal across one of the monster's squares).
    Move Action: If I can shift (next turn) diagonal across one of the monster's squares, I'll shift SW one square this turn. If shifting across a monster's square is not allowed, I'll stay put this round and use my Move Action to draw my waraxe.

    Minor Action: Inspiring Word on Quinn (don't forget the extra 2d6 of hits over his regular surge).

    Yes, Sonya can shift diagonal across a monsters square (as long as it isn't occupied). Just not walls or other fixed objects.

    Sonya's turn:

    Move: shift 1 square SW
    Minor: Inspiring word on Quinn. Quinn recovers 16+5hp.

    Disrupting Shot 27 vs Ref hit for 15hp.

    For now I'm ruling that it only affects a single attack roll. So you can apply the penalty to help one PC...

    I'd like to but this is the first wizard I've played & I'm not sure if she picked that or stinking cloud for today. Ken, could you tell me what spells she has memorized for today?     monster knowledge checks require no action ("either you know it or you don't") and Miri has +8 in dungeoneering & +12 in arcana (DC25 to know resistances & vulnerabilities). I'm going to burn my biggest encounter powers & some of them are fire... Do I know what it's resistances are?
