After returning from the ruins of the village of Starspire, MC Turco gives Strikeforce Black their next mission.
Turco “Gentlemen, (points to a map showing the area around the docks), this is bullseye, the docks we’ve code named Layten. A strike mission is underway and your mission (looks at SF Black) is to provide security cover to that mission. Tabi, Holly Wood (a druid/warden), sector two (points to an area north of the docks). Amoon, back her up with the Bloodhawks on alert status.”
Tabi “Sir, about Amoon, is he the right man for the job?”
Turco “I know what you’re thinking Tabi, just get on it. (pause) Cedarick, sector three (points to an area very close to where the Phase Spider exit tunnel was under the blackberry bushes). Cagvree, sector one. Bender sector four.
There are hostile forces in the area and tensions are high. If you witness a hostile act, you shall return fire. Gentlemen, this is what you have been trained for, make us proud!”
Dana – to Cedarick and SF Black “You will accompany the main strike force overland to the target area. Your team will be on the inland wing about a quarter mile from the main assault force and on a parallel course. A rotating team of our guides will maintain contact between your team and the main body to make sure you stay on course and in relative position. During the approach march, SF Black shall evade any stationary enemies and intercept and delay enemies moving toward the main body. You must prevent any Royalist forces from detecting the main body. If your team becomes engaged and drops out of position, the guides will discover such and a reserve screening team with be shifted up to cover the gap. The main body will NOT send reinforcements to support you, however, nearby screening elements can support you if there is the danger of an enemy breakthrough. The approach march will be at night.
Once at the target area, SF Black will leave the main body at the staging area and get into position, stationed here in sector three at this trail junction. During the main attack by the assault team, SF Black shall ambush and engage comparable Royalist forces attempting to move through the junction. Against superior Royalist relief forces, SF Black shall engage and attempt to weaken and delay them. Superior Royalist forces will likely recognize SF Black as a delaying force and will likely attempt to bypass you in order to gain entry to the primary caverns. You will not pursue fleeing enemy forces as blocking the trail junction is your primary mission until our main assault force has completed its mission.
SF Green led by Tabi and Holly will be to your south; SF Red led by Cagvree will be to your north; SF White led by MC Bender will be to your northwest. The Challenge for this mission is “Mars” and the password is “Saturn”, the trouble password is “Kazoo”.
The guide and scout detachment will send a runner to notify you that the main assault force has completed its mission and your team may withdraw to the rally point one mile north of the destroyed village in preparation for the return march back to our lines. Alternately, if you hear two long horn blasts followed by two short horn blasts, that is the signal to withdraw to the rally point. During the return march, your team will be positioned to screen the main force, just as it was during the approach march, but you do not have to worry about enemies discovering the main body. Your mission during the return march will be to harass and delay any Royalist reaction teams and to merely alert the main body of the approach of any large enemy interception/ pursuit forces.
