20231103 - The Scab and the Spire
The heroes are vacationing in a quaint mountain village featuring a large library.  An earthquake hits and the heroes help some of the villagers.  A huge tower of melted cheese tips over and a wave of cheese threatens to drown the heroes but an airship picks them up.  The heroes meet the Order of the Eye and are asked to check out an underground crypt to make sure an ancient necromancer is still secure.   They drop into the site, evade some blood oozes and make their way past a hall of shadows.  Then they find a huge elevator room and figure out how to operate the elevator, getting to the Crown Room first.  They successfully crown the king and avoid the assassin wraith.  The group next finds the junk room and find the key before the Blood Golem forms.  Lastly, the group finds the crypt and fix the security measures and drive the necromancer back into the crypt.

The heroes find the crypt of Prince Bellovar and he thanks them for rescuing him and demands the groups loyalty. The heroes refuse and an epic battle breaks out. The necromancer summons four zombies and a wraith before the heroes restore the safety system and banish all of the summoned undead. With only the Prince left, the heroes combine to push him back into the crypt, saying the sealing words and putting the prince back to rest.

Exploring the crypt the heroes find the lab, battling an animated potion rack and avoiding summoning a mummy. Next the heroes find the chains of healing and the Ranger receives the blessing of Pelor by restoring a statue of one of Pelor's saints.

A message is rec'd that the airship is returning to pick the heroes up and upon their return to the surface, a fight breaks out in the long shadow hall with two dozen shadow rats. Upon defeating the rats the party learn of a forest in pain and a mine where evil is arising. Reaching the surface again, the party speaks with a band of cultists who are looking to build a new temple to their god.

The airship picks up the party and the party members are recognized by the Order of the Ocher Eye for performing a great service to the town. Next adventure - The Tomb of the Forgotten Paladin

On the way home from a vacation, the heroes hit a highway detour. The priest of Pelor chooses to go her own way but the guards at the roadblock assign a single traveller, a Githyanki, to go with them. Their guide tries to have the group avoid a dangerous clearing but the heroes investigate anyway and are ambushed by some spiders. Right away the druid is turned into a hedgehog and the guide is bound in webs.
After driving the spiders off, they find a talking sword who leads them into a crypt. The heroes recognize some of the paintings from the last tomb they cleared and know that a female Paladin and the lich they entombed last time are both involved.

They come across some burial sites and wisely do not disturb them. Then they enter a hall with three doorways and answer a number of riddles. The group chooses a room where a play has been disrupted and figure out which of the puppets is the evil hag. They then find the crypt of the Paladin and quickly rescue her from her bondage with the ranger making an epic shot on the weak link in the chain. As they escape out the tomb, they free a huge hulk of boulder throwing flesh. On the way back to Newport, the party meet a desert barbarian and an female rogue who tell the group of some strange kidnappings/ disappearances in the city. The heroes hear there is a reward and decide to help out.

In the Dredges of Newport, many people have been vanishing w/o a trace and the city council decides to hire a famed detective, The Guppy to solve the mystery. He's getting too old so he hires the adventurers to assist. After gaining some info at the Green Door Tavern, the heroes, w Tarek, a local, go to a nearby house to look for clues. After a search, they hear screaming and rush to a kidnapping in progress. The ranger, followed by the cleric, jump off the balcony and run down the back alley. The ranger practically flies up the wall and battles a cultist on the balcony of the woman's home. The avenger, barbarian and rogue run down the main street but Ziva is ambushed by the cultist lookout. She fights back and with a bit of help from the barbarian, drive the lookout off. The heroes converge on the kidnapping in progress and save a woman and her husband and down a few cultists in the process. They find clues on them leading to an abandoned fletcher's warehouse.

On the way to the warehouse, the party diverts to another warehouse with a burnt dead cat in it. The ranger gains a little kitten friend. The ranger also spots a cool new hat. Upon reaching the target warehouse, the heroes encounter several more cultists and two get away down a secret tunnel. To be continued.

0240823 - Hidden Horrors - Part 2

Upon reaching the old abandoned warehouse, the heroes encounter several more cultists and two get away down a secret tunnel. They follow them and notice that there are drag marks and blood. They come to a large sewer junction and there is a seal of Yagathal over one of the exits. The group steadies themselves and move past it. In a side tunnel, they fight off a flock of striges with the barbarian smashing one against the wall.

The group hears the chanting of the cultists and send the cat up to check it out. There are about a dozen and a half cultists and about a dozen villagers. Tarek the friendly town's person is the head cultist! The heroes approach with stealth and surprise the clan, taking down four cultists right away. The barbarian leads the charge toward the villagers. The cleric, bard, ranger and drow move to the center platform. Some of the cultists are hitting hard and the barbarian is in trouble. The cleric falls to one of the guards and the ranger rushes over to give first aid. The cleric then rolls off the altar, getting stabbed and kicked in the groin before healing the entire party, who were all very wounded. Several of the cultists turn out to be were rats and rats infest the entire cavern. The drow rushes past the guard, taking the keys and starts freeing the towns people. The bard convinces about half the remaining cultists to surrender and with only three or four cultists left, the heroes rush to the exit as the cavern starts to collapse. The party makes it back to the surface, battered but successful.
