Arthur - posting this to the group for their input..

What do you think is the best way to start a figure collection if you think you'll be DM'ing on occasion, and playing frequently?

What do you think is the best way to improve one's painting skills?

    Here's my two cents...

Maybe start with some sort of easier monsters that you could definitely use as the DM.
I was thinking low undead (I have a half dozen ghouls you could have), or lower giant class (I have a dozen kobold/ goblin types you could have).

Then maybe move up to some type of soldier so you could get some practice on skin tones and hair. Maybe some city guard types or some dwarf soldiers.

    Anyone else have any thoughts?

These aren’t 3D minis but they work and look great and in full detailed color so they are ready to go right out of he box. Only other thing you may need are extra bases.
167 various types of figures for $80. That’s a bargain.

I bought a set of these that I’ll bring Friday for Arthur to see.

Best way to improve your skills is just paint figures. Start off with monsters and maybe full armored characters as eyes and faces are the hardest part of figures. Maybe practice on giant’s faces as they are easier due to size. Dragons are very easy and and allow you to practice shading.
