Star Wars: Battlefront was confirmed by Electronic Arts during its E3 press conference on Monday.
A reboot of the Battlefront franchise has been anticipated by gamers since Disney and Electronic Arts first announced a partnership to bring AAA games based on the Star Wars franchise to the console.
Battlefield 4 developers DICE will be developing Star Wars: Battlefront using the Frostbite 3 engine which should be right in the developers wheelhouse since both games have many similarities. Both feature a high number of players in multiplayer and both make heavy use of vehicles.
EA previously stated that Star Wars games would be developed in-house by DICE, Visceral Games and BioWare. A Battlefront game from DICE seemed the most likely candidate.
The likely pre-rendered trailer shown by EA was only a brief glimpse of a battle on the ice planet of Hoth with a snow speeder crashing close to the player.

No release date or platforms was announced but the PS4, Xbox One and PC are a safe bet.
