Slayer HQ (Giles' house) Empty Slayer HQ (Giles' house)

Post by Kenji Sun Jun 26, 2011 12:34 pm

Alright, enough time has passed, I'm going to say that Aura & Ember share a dorm on campus, everybody else decided to share a house with Giles, your Watcher. Also, until St Vigeous in 3 nights, you are all staying together at least during these 3 nights...

Here's a map of Gile's house. (Pretend it's not a casino) The 2 smaller room each to the N & S are bedroom, the W room is a combat training room, the E room a living room area, basement is unfinished with the houses 2 bathrooms. In the basement, it also has a sewer entrance to the upper tunnel system. (the smaller, non-difficult terrain one)

    Slayer HQ (Giles' house) Slayer10

Let me know where you want your PC to be, and I'll put most of them there...

I'll be able to start this encounter late tonight. Everybody's ready to go, right? Note: please remind me when using a new item, since it's not on the tokens, at least for the first couple uses.

Angelus will be near the stairs so that he can detect if anything tries to come up from the sewers.

Ember will take the SE bedroom. spending her time there crafting stuff, resting and studing her spells. Aura can share the room with her at night.

No need to update her token. Iten her got only effects certain skill checks.

On the evening before St Vigeous, as the sun is setting, the Slayers prepare for whatever as the night approaches... Unexpectedly, about an hour BEFORE the sun sets, 5 cars pull up to the house; a stretched limo and 2 Broncos on either side. All are completely black with dark tinted windows.

A well dressed Eladrin rings the doorbell.

(Streetwise DC15 many recognizes him as Mayor Richard Wilkins III, the mayor of Los Diables... "Heloooo... I figure it's time you kids & I had a little chat. Slaying my constituents is the kind of thing I'm supposed to be concerned about, and I understand you've all been super busy now, even slaying one of my bigger campaign contributors... This just won't do, why don't you invite my staff & me in so we can talk?..."

    initiatives:

    Blade 27.09
Mayor Wilkins 24 (delaying until door opens)
    Ashe 23.08
    Aura 20.09
    Angelus 20.09
    Ember 15.08
    Telgarth 13.08

    Slayer HQ (Giles' house) Slayer10

Notes: I accidentally switched Ashe & the girls (corrected), Ashe is in the SW room, girls in SE.

Before Blade & Telgarth go, we need to know what you're doing about the Fararris & which items you had Ember create first...

Remember if you invite them in they can come in whenever after that.

It's an hour before sunset so the Mayor is either protected or not a vampire. The guys in the cars probably vampires.

They also appear to know where Giles house is which isn't good.

Well we could invite only him in and make the others wait their turn...

Otherwise, we probably shouldn't let them in.

We could meet them at a "neutral" location.

I am going to use my contacts to strip down the Ferrari's and part them out to sell them. That should make them more valuable than trying to sell them outright.

That's exactly what chop shops usually do according to the movies I watch...

    http://www.ferrariapproved.com/#selectedView=HITLIST/0

Fararris sold used legit are around $150k, so I'm guessing 1/2 that for 'hot' cars, splitting the difference between you & the chop shop, $37K each to the party...

But, then they recognize the Aralius name they are registered to, and because of how 'hot' they are, Blade's fence offers a 'take it or leave it' $30k each cash, which he pays you immediately from the back (assuming you take the deal). We'll say you took Telgarth with you (to drive the other car) since you two are the only outright criminals in the bunch... This would have been earlier this same day that the Mayor paid you a visit.

That's a free action, you still have a standard, move, minor... Are you delaying?

Ashe is after Blade since he's not opening the door...

It doesn't matter much at this point but you skipped Aura's turn.

Aura will move into the doorway between the large E and W rooms so she has line of sight to most of the building.

Only Angelus & Ember specified where they want to be, so I put Blade & Telgarth in the NW room because that's the most remote room and they are the sneaky criminal types, Ashe in the SW room because it has entry to both main rooms and the outside and he's a defender type (also, he's the most flirty with the girls), and Aura in Ember's room because they're roommates anyway.

Blade & Telgarth are a ways from the front door, yes.

The basement sewer exit was scouted enough to see it leads to the smaller, upper sewer tunnel system, and has a padlocked manhole cover. Other than that, the basement is unfinished except for 2 bathrooms. Lots of space for storage or whatever.

I tried to make the map as big as possible & still show the exits... Besides the main 2x door entrance on the E where the mayor is, there's an entrance on the S end of the W wall of the training room, as well as into Ashe's room. These (barely) show on the map...

    Who are we waiting for?

It sounds like we're not going to let them in, so it'll be up to them to make the first move. Do they feel lucky... tongue

Angelus will move to a front facing window and use a minor action to look around (using as much cover as possible).

He'll ready an action to charge the first enemy that comes in.

    initiatives:

    Blade 27.09
Mayor Wilkins 24 (delaying until door opens)
    Ashe 23.08
    Aura 20.09
    Angelus 20.09
    Ember 15.08
    Telgarth 13.08

Looks like everyone went (or delayed) except Telgarth. Yes, if no one's going to even open the door, next round might be stronger actions than simply doorbelling... After Telgarth we're back to the top of the order, so anyone delaying needs to go or lose this turn & we're back to Blade again...

New initiatives after delays will probably be:

    Ashe 23.08
    Aura 20.09
    Telgarth 13.08
    Blade 13.07
    Mayor Wilkins 13.06
    Angelus 13.05
    Ember 13.04

...assuming everyone who delayed wants a turn this round. Long winded way of saying we're waiting on Telgarth & Blade before it's the Mayor's turn to act.

It's a full move/move to get to the window from where you were so no readied action. You now see the 5 cars described earlier, and also notice that all 5 cars have the motor running. The passenger door of the limo is still open from when the mayor got out, looks like no one else in the back.

I think it is further than a run and a run. If it is I will use the run and a run.

PS dealing with a new baby at home, so I may be off more than usual.

And she's a cutie! Congrats again!

Telgarth does a run/run through the training room towards Ashe. He's 2 W of Ashe just in the doorway.

Blade's option to go then Mayor Wilkins, then everyone else who delayed.

Say, "What do we want to do? They can't come in unless we invite them. Should we head out?"
Is there a window in our room? If so, find cover from it and hide.

Not many windows in this building. It used to be a card room until the neighborhood was rezoned residential.

Angelus sees 2 Vampires (wearing Vamp faces) leave the 2 closest Broncos & walk to the front door, kneel down & start tinkering. Angelus sees them squinting uncomfortably, but they are NOT smoking.

Then, Mayor Wilkins opens the now unlocked front door, walk in and sit at the table. Angelus' really high perception barely notices a large circumference of shade follow the mayor inside. "Well, well, I'm guessing by now you know what I'm not, but I'll betcha you don't know how excited I am to finally meet you & how long and hard I've been preparing for your coming. I actually brought you all gifts... I can't say I'm impressed with your hospitalty though. You don't happen to have any wine to offer guests, do you? Preferably a '78 Chablis?..."

The 2 Vampires that picked the front door lock, one is taking cover from all of you behind the front door, the other appears to be leaning heavily against some invisible barrier at the entryway.

    New initiatives:

    Ashe 23.08
    Aura 20.09
    Angelus 14.09
    Telgarth 13.08
    Blade 13.07

one is taking cover from all of you behind the front door
Wouldn't the door swing inward? If so, he couldnt be hiding behind it.

    If the door swung inward:
minor: conjure mage hand in front of the door and have it close the door.
standard: have the mage hand turn the dead-bolt lock and continue holding pressure on it.

Doh mage hand is out of range of the door. I'll post later

Ashe will move 5 west and sit down at the other table putting his sword on the table in front of him (still keeping a hand on it).

Well Mayor it appears you have us at a disadvantage. You didn't phone ahead and let us know you were coming so we didn't get a chance to properly prepare for your arrival. Next time let us know and we will make sure you are treated as befits a man of your stature.

Ashe lounges back in his chair idly playing with his sword.

So on to business then. Your two 'friends' will need to stay outside as befits their stature. I believe we have a dog house outside if they want to make themselves comnfortable. The dog bones are buried so they will need to sniff em out themselves.

*NOTE Ashe makes a point of not talking to the vampires and referring to them in the third person.

As far as your constituents are concerned have you ever heard them squeal in fear? What a horrible sound they make when they know they are about to die and can't do anything to stop it. It's like a cross between a pig and a sheep. Absolutely fascinating.

*NOTE I am trying to goad the vampires into raging and yelling out of turn/place and interrupting their boss. It will hurt the mayor's position and make him seem weak which he will hate. Dissention in the ranks so to speak.

Aura sighs. The mayor had made it clear he wasn't going anywhere until he stated his business. Ashe was putting it on a little thick, but maybe she could use that to her advantage.

"Well I'm sure you know we just rented this place, but I'll see if we have anything."

Move and a Move to head to bar (I'm assuming it would be the liqueur cabinet or kitchen or something since this is a house and not a casino).

"Now then, you are either the most persistent door-do-door used soul salesman in existence or you have something important to discuss, and I doubt your business is something so trivial since you came here yourself. So please, continue."

(OOC: Playing off Ashe for "good slayer, bad slayer" routine in the hopes that the mayor will be more eager to talk to me and let something slip, or at the very least conclude his business faster while the sun is still up.)

Ember drinks a potion, while offering the guest none, and loses a healing surge but gains resist 5 necrotic.

Ashe then moves to the other table & sits down...

"Will do... Maybe you can keep a nice Chablis on hand for me, I do love a good wine. And you're right, how rude of me... That's what I get for listening to my Shamans advising me this is the best way to reach you..."

(the Mayor's overly cheery disposition flips on a dime...) "Young man don't pretend you can tell me anything I don't know about killing!" He's practically hissing at you.

Of the 2 Vamps in the doorway, the one taking cover is obviously cautious (though clearly hateful), but the other starts banging on the invisible barrier "I'll show you your place Slayer!"

"Oh goody. If you don't have Chablis, a nice port will be fine... I'm guessing I know which Slayers the Prophesies say will triumph in the End Times and which ones (turning to Ashe & hissing again) will die horribly! (cheery again) But hey, I didn't write the Prophesy" (winks at Aura)

"I'm glad some of you have manners... As well as wanting to meet you, I came bearing gifts and a surprise, and I was thinking of taking my gifts back!" (He seems to be waiting for Aura to finish pouring drinks & serve him...)

Might as well pour it on even thicker. I am the defender so if they go after me that is what I want them to do.

Ashe will listen bemusedly while the mayor talks of killing but when the vampire speaks Ashe will interrupt him with a condemning look on his face.

"Silence vermin! Your betters are speaking. If you had anything of importance to say you would be inside negotiating instead of toadying to a 'meatbag'"

Ashe will nod at Angelus when he closes the door.

Ashe will look back at the mayor and listen while he speaks.

The bolder Vamp hurts his head against the barrier at the sight of your neck so close before the door closes...

"Answers, dear boy. It's amazing the 5 of you were able to find each other & get so far, but I'm sure you have questions about where your abilities came from, what your destiny is, etc. You see each of you were supposed to have a 'Watcher', to guide you in your training, but well, the Watcher's Counsel was blown up a while back and they've all been destroyed. (He smiles even bigger at that thought) Now you kids are left without any guidance... There are no Watchers left, but I assure you, with my connections I can be the next best thing for you.

...And you kids can help me out as well. I can always use talents like yours for odd jobs... to start with I'll even make sure I only send you on jobs involving Undead Americans to er... 'deal with'. What do you say? Like I said, I brought gifts to sweeten the deal!"

Just talked to Ross today, he wanted to skip his turn. I guess we were waiting on each other...

Free action: *looking surprised* "What enemies could you have that your... ahem, *nods toward front door* 'personal security' can't take care of?"

(7 sq away) The mayor walks up to a stool next to Aura (move/move) and sits down. Accepting the wine & holding the glass up to clink with you in cheers...

"Oh you probably have no idea of the forces you're Prophesied to defeat! Some of you that is, not all 12 of you are Prophesied to live through the End Times. Horrible deaths... Uugghh!" He does a shudder as he looks around the room at everyone, then smiles really big at the thought. "But the others, well by golly your Prophesied to tip the scales in the final battle between living & dead. Doesn't say which way you'd tip the scales, just that you'll make the difference. Let's just say I want you to tip the scales my way..." Twisted Evil

(Talking in a quiet voice so those outside can't hear...) "Okay, I have a little confesion to make. Those guys outside aren't my staff. I slipped that in for a little possible hyjinx later. Of course, I'm confessing this to you because I didn't think you'd really fall for that anyway...

Only the slightest peice of your birthmark shows on Aura's shoulder blade, and the Mayor realizes he doesn't recognize you...

(In a normal voice again) "A few of you came into a dreadful mess a few months back, stumbling into a ritual in progress with a couple dozen Vampires and had to flee to sunlight. Wouldn't you like another crack at the coven leader and his girlfriend that almost killed you? I gathered them all up for you and they're right outside."

(whispering) "They think they can't lose because I gave them magic items to defeat you, but the thing is, I gave them magic items befitting a Prophesied Slayer...(giggling uncontrolably) All you have to do is slay them to get it! Call it a test, as well as a gift. Very Happy

I gave a couple of them nice weapons, a nice cloak, a couple magic rings... If I hope for some of you to work for me someday, well, you have to prove yourself, but hey, only the best for my right hand. Wanna see how nice they are? Go ahead, invite just the 2 in the doorway in! Twisted Evil "
