Now the freakin' cops are trying to jack me by snail mail! Belleuve's Photo Enforcement Program is demanding I send them $124.00. When are people going to wake up & take a stand against the police state? Anyone know any legal types who can properly tell the police state where to shove their ticket?

In some places if you fight the photo tickets they will just waive them.

Isn't your cousin Karen Nakagawa a current, practicing attorney at law here in Seattle? Yeah, the easiest way not to get traffic tickets is to obey the law.

Y'all are thinking like slaves and not free men!

...& Karen's a divorce attorney. I don't think this is her area of expertise.

Post Script: The ticket is for going 36 mph on NE 8th! I could have driven slower, I guess, but that comes with a rear-end crash hazard.

Dunno how it is up here, but in Arizona you just had to say you weren't driving the car at the time and they'd waive the ticket. Of course that doesn't work if the picture includes your face, but I don't think they usually do.

follow up... I tried that. Now I've been summoned to court Aug 12th for a hearing to contest this bullshit harassment, er... 'ticket'. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

D'oh. Sorry. Didn't mean to get you in more trouble. As I said, I have no idea how things are up here.

Is the ticket for speeding or running a red? If it's for running a red, make sure they can prove without a doubt that you had not yet reached 'the point of no return' when the light turned yellow, and that it was safe for you to stop before the intersection (ie. you didn't have someone tailgating you so that it would have been hazardous to brake hard).

Edit: Also, this site is for California, but it's still interesting: http://www.highwayrobbery.net/index.htm

In the state of Washington, your front tire has to completely cross the Stop Line before the light turns red for you to be within the law. If the picture show the light is red and your front tire(s) has not crossed the (first) stop line, then your case is weakened.

You didn't "get me into trouble", State oppression is just that.

...and what's the speed limit on NE 8th? Is it 30? So just 6 over?

It's normally 35, but they're saying it's a school zone so I was supposed to be driving 20. The date of the "infraction" was Memorial Day, no kid or school bus in sight in the photo.

...I thought in a school zone, the limit was 20 only when the lights are flashing...

Usually school zones say reduced speed limit while lights are flashing, or while children are present. On the photos of your car can you see any children on the area?

You should take a pic of the signage there as proof.
