Holy crap! That is freakin' awesome! Only thing is, how is it with return fire? It looked like an exposed laptop next to it running it. It has to be durable against paintball return fire and washable from paintballs, rain, mud, before it's market ready. But regardless, holy crap!

I'm pretty sure it would work with a real gun too. Eventually I bet the hardware could be run with a smart phone. I'm sure they already have military versions. This is a guy who just made it himself.

The scene from "Aliens" with the robot sentries (just like the above) was one of my favorite Sci-fi scenes. I guess now it's not sci-fi anymore. Oh, the scene is only in the director's cut version of the movie.

Wasn't even thinking of a real gun, but now that you mention it, same question: how is it going to be buffed against return fire?

Is there another version worth watching?

All's you need is a bullet proof shield in front of it, or just have it sticking out of a small hole.

Yeah, but my point is that it should come that way...

...an actual military unit would have the gun mounted on a three axis turret, fully shielded/ armored. The electronics and power supply would be encased below the turret in an armored and hardened case. It would have complete EMI shielding and be able to withstand most small arms fire and your standard hand thrown frag grenades. It would likely take a LAW, a shoulder launched grenade, a shaped charge, or something of 50 cal+ to take it out.

The army has these kinds of systems already. It's just cool that this guy could make it in his parents basement. It would be fun on a Speed Ball field though. Maybe someone could play a Predator and mount it on his shoulder.

If they could reconfigure the support electronics into a backpack, yeah, entirely possible. If you really wanted to make it cool, you could align the aim point to a cross hair on the "Predator's" face shield. Where ever he looks, that's where the gun fires. I think the motion sensor is the coolest part, then the Predator doesn't even have to be aware of the opponent.
