1 Ember's Magical Emporium on Tue Feb 22, 2011 9:39 am

I looks like Ember is the only friendly magic item crafter that the PCs know of.

I thought it might be easier if all crafting request were in a central place.

Great!

Angelus will pay Ember for her services.

Depending on how the ruling goes, I'll be paying from the money from my job/student loans or from the money from the last adventure...

Hmm, I'm not sure on the rules for Boons...

It looks like they are treated as magic items but I'm not sure if this is something that a DM has to give out.

I know in the Slave Ship campaign Ross gave all of the PCs a boon.

If they're just unslotted magic items, is there a limit on how many you can have?

From the PHB:
Thrown Weapons:
Any magic light thrown or heavy thrown weapon, from the lowly +1 shuriken to
a +6 perfect hunter’s spear, automatically returns to its wielder’s hand after a ranged attack with the weapon is resolved.

Catching a returning thrown weapon is a free action; if you do not wish (or are unable) to catch the weapon, it falls at your feet in your space.

If the weapon is magical and classified as Light Thrown or Heavy Thrown, then it will return when thrown. Otherwise, probably not...

Yeah, this, like most things, will be per the PHB in the Buffyverse.

Ashe will request the following items to be made by Ember.

Deathcut armor +1 - $1,000
Siberys shard of the mage - $680
Iron Armbands of Power - $1,800

Ashe will definitely tip well for the items.

You may want the Shard of Radiance instead...

Shard of the Mage only applies to implement powers.

Shard of Radiance works on any power with the Radiant keyword. With your sword you can have any of you powers have the Radiant keyword instead of their normal keywords. It'll even work with a MBA if you use the at-will of the sword.

13 Re: Ember's Magical Emporium on Wed Feb 23, 2011 10:21 am

Very true, so change that to the Radiance shard. They are the same price so all is good there.

I was going off of the sorcerer handbook which recommends the mage over everything. They aren't usually a hybrid pally though and have access to a sunblade. I will also hopefully keep the sunblade for all of my levels so I shouldn't have a problem getting the radiant keyword.

Note:
Assassin's are similar to monks in that you can use a Ki focus or weapon for Implement and Weapon attacks. If both are magical, then you have to choose which one (+2 weapon or +1 Ki Focus).

For Blade's token I'll set all powers to use the +2 weapon as your source of the attacks. The Ki Focus is lower in enhancement so the only time you'll want to use it is when you want to do fire damage, you'll have +1 enhancement to hit instead of +2.

I have a Falchion for my melee weapon and will use the Ki Focus for my ranged attacks. I don't think I have any Implement & Weapon Attacks.

Might as well load myself up. I'll take these also:

Iron Armbands of Power

These plate armbands enhance the damage you dole out.
Price: 1,800 gp
Item Slot: Arms
Property: Gain a +2 item bonus to melee damage rolls.

Acrobat Boots
Level 2 Uncommon
These enchanted boots enhance your acrobatic skills.
Price: 520 gp
Item Slot: Feet
Property: Gain a +1 item bonus to Acrobatics checks.
Power (At-Will): Minor Action. Stand up from prone.

Essence of the Scout
Level 4 Uncommon
By installing this metal disk in your chest, your movements make scarcely a sound.
Price: 840 gp
Item Slot: Neck
Prerequisite: (embedded component)
Requirement: You must have the living construct racial trait to use this item.
Enhancement: +1 Fortitude, Reflex, and Will
Property: You gain a +2 item bonus to Stealth checks.
Power (Daily): Minor Action. You gain a +5 power bonus to your next Stealth check made before the end of your next turn.

Bag of Holding
Level 5 Uncommon
This item appears to be a simple sack of brown canvas.
Price: 1,000 gp
Wondrous Item
Property: This bag can hold up to 200 pounds in weight or 20 cubic feet in volume, but it always weighs only 1 pound.
Drawing an item from a bag of holding is a minor action.

From the Assassin class in the Compendium:

IMPLEMENTS
Assassins focus their shadow energy through a ki focus, which is not an object they wield but a reservoir of magical power within themselves. When using a ki focus, an assassin taps into the power of shadow magic and channels it into both implement and weapon attacks.

You can imbue your ki focus with magic as if it were a physical implement. When you have a magic ki focus, you can add its enhancement bonus to the attack rolls and the damage rolls of assassin powers and assassin paragon path powers that have the implement keyword. You can also add its enhancement bonus to the attack rolls and the damage rolls of any weapon attack you make using a weapon with which you’re proficient.

You can also use a weapon with which you’re proficient as an implement. While wielding the weapon as an implement, the characteristics of the weapon you use—proficiency bonus, damage die, and weapon properties (such as defensive or high crit)—are irrelevant to your implement powers.

If you have a magic ki focus and wield a magic weapon, you choose before you use an attack power whether to draw on the magic of your ki focus or to employ the magic of your weapon. Your choice determines which enhancement bonus, critical hit effects, and magic item properties and powers you can apply to attacks with that power. You can’t, for example, use the enhancement bonus of your ki focus and the property of your magic weapon with the same attack power.

Enhancement: +1 Fortitude, Reflex, and Will
Power (Daily): No Action. Trigger: You miss with an attack or fail a skill check, ability check, or saving throw. Effect: Roll a d6 and add the result to the attack roll, skill check, ability check, or saving throw.

For a Monk or Assasin, if you have a magic weapon and a magic you have to declare which you're going to use when you make an attack.

You could just say you're always going to use one until you declare that you're changing.

Blade currently has the choice of a +2 Falchion or a +1 Ki Focus.

If you declare that you're using the weapon, then all of your weapon attacks are as if you're using a +2 Falchion. All implement attacks are at +2 to hit and damage, but you don't get the high crit or proficiency bonuses.

If you declare that you're using the Ki Focus, then your weaon attacks are at +1 to hit/damage, but you can make them flaming if you like. Weapon attacks still use the base weapon properties (high crit in the case of the falchion). For implement powers they are also at +1 to hit/damage and you can make them flaming.

To make it simple for the token have any Weapon attack use the Falchion and any Implement attacks use the Ki Focus. That way I can always dust a vampire regardless of attack.
