I've created tokens for Ember, Angel, and Blade and emailed them to Brad. Hopefully there are no more edits to those PCs.

Blades took the longest as he has several class features, racial abilities, and feat abilities that needed buttons.

I also have a Longtooth Shift-Paladin named Lucian who would fit into the theme of Brad's avdentures.
But that leaves a hole in the controller/ranged artilery slot.

    -- Background --
Ashe is one of your typical teenagers besides the fact that he can breath lightning. He likes all the normal things that typically get teenage boys in trouble. He is an only child and for the most part his parents indulge him and his hobbies as long as it doesn't disrupt their lives too much and he is safe.

A gifted child; Ashe embodied the Dragonborn spirit and strove to excel in as many different activities as he could lay his hands on to keep his mind active and hone his body. As he grew he would constantly switch gears as he mastered one activity to the next. From kids sports and board games like chess and risk he moved on to extreme sports, video games, and rock music. Items and treasures from these past hobbies litter his room and the house.

When Giles whisks him away Ashe is able to grab a few things from his house that might help him. Needing something to wear he grabbed his reinforced motorcycle outfit and struck with inspiration he also snagged his families crest from the dining room. A dragon soaring above mountains on a shield in the shape of a dragonscale. A straight sword with a twin dragon hilt rested underneath. Long having been used as decoration they weren't very serviceable but with time and help from Giles network he has made them into formidable weapons.

    Item re-fluffs
-- Hide Armor - Reinforced Motorcycle outfit.
-- Longsword and shield - Family crest

    Thanks Ken for the help!

Chris, here's a slightly modified version...

    Swapped armor to Hide
    Uses a Heavy Shield
Changed main weapon to Longsword (will want to take Arcane Implement Prof to use Heavy Blades as implements)
Gave you a xbow since your ranged attack is limited to 10 squares
Swapped dailty to Majestic Halo (for one encounter any enemy starting next to you is marked by your DS)

Cool. Most teenagers in school won't have plate armor (or likely any of the starting items a PC would want), so I'm looking for sensible backgrounds to explain them. All the PCs are teenagers in school (or the non-Human equivalent) and live in a modern world (that isn't this one) where all the Living races forgot all about magic. Most of the living are more focused on work than weapons...

Btw, sounds like a tough party forming! If Stu plays another leader (likely), we'll have a controller, defender, and leader (all with striker qualities) and 2 pure strikers. I think this is supposed to be one of the ideal party mixes...

Looks like once we have a leader type, we may be able to get started. We sure could use some online action to entertain us between in person sessions.

Concur! (Though I'm itching to run the 17th level Dragonborn adventure too!... it's all ready to go) Ken's online campaign was a lot of fun!

While we're waiting for Stu to post his PC, and for Ken to make the tokens for Ashe & Kenedy, we can ask any questions you might have about the intro.

I saw that Blade rolled up his starting gp. That can be used in the casino, or you can spend it (+ the 100gp from Giles) the following day in town, before the Harvest Moon ritual begins that the party needs to interrupt.

Ken and I talked about that and Ken changed it to hide armor. I will go write up the story and you let me know if it works for you. Not sure how to do the dice roll so go ahead and roll for me Brad and I will buy the rest of his items.

Stu PC. He told me a little about the build he's putting together. (I think Stu is planning on spelling it differently though...)

Sat days are bad for me for a while, but Fri nights, Sat nights, or Sun days are good for me pretty much any time. I posted in the scheduling thread that I can run it this weekend, next, or later, but no one responded yet.

Cool. I'm looking forward to your write up on your background. I don't have a token for Ashe yet, so I don't know how to roll it either. But, I rolled it manually and you rolled a '3' too. So Ashe has 1 worn item, 2 hand carried items, 150gp, + a wooden stake & 100gp more that Giles gave you.

The party is outside the casino and it is getting dusk. Think Snoqualmie Casino... it's about 15 miles outside of the main coastal city in a heavily wooded mountain pass. In other words, any combat-ish items you want will likely need to be purchased the following morning in town after the recon mission, unless a gift shop would have it, or you want food/drink (escorts...). There are plenty of gaming tables for you to spend your money on too...

Spell casters don't have to have an implement to cast spells. You'll only loose out on class features that require an implement.

I know it doesn't hurt me offensively at first level, just defensively.
I'll have to re-evaluated my choices for implements for level 6.
Carrying around a 1/4 staff will continue to be a issue in the future.

    Normally...

When a character selects a class feature it can't be changed down the road.

You can swap out feats, powers, and I believe skills, but not class features.

A staff implement can be used with one hand so I don't think it has to be a full 1/4 staff. Otherwise a halfling wizard couldn't use it.

Yours could be the size of a cane which wouldn't stand out at all.

You haven't gone in yet, but yes, you see 2 huge Goliaths in dark maroon sports jackets that you know are security by the main entrance. If you're too scruffy looking and smelly (i.e. too poor to gamble), they will throw you out, if you have big fighting items like a staff, shield, or longsword, you'll be asked to leave them in your vehicle. They are not patting people down though (bad for business), and there are no metal detectors (that you notice), so a dagger or pistol might be easy to smuggle in.

Yes, monks & wizards are probably the easiest classes to blend in a crowd, but your Watcher, Giles, seems like a monk and carries a short spear. Being a Deva though, he doesn't blend in very well anyway, but you notice he is especially mobile and difficult to spot...

A good bluff check faking a limp and they might think it's a crutch. All staves are bigger than rods & wands though, but up to you either way. You can have whatever size staff the books say they come in.

Hmm, it's been a week and a half since characters were posted. How long are we going to wait on the others?

Can we start soon and have others join in later?

Yes, by all means, please don't wait for me. Go ahead and start. I'm busy this weekend with the Regional TKD Grand Championships and still have 120 move boxes to unpack at home. At least I have home internet now (finally).

    Brad,

I am going to consolidate all the information in this thread and in other places into a thread in the online game forum for the start of the campaign.

Edit: Thread posted. I did not grab any PC posts except for on by Mick because it was quoted in one of Brads. I will place any questions I have in there.

If you want to consolidate or rewrite them go ahead and do so and I will delete mine and merge any questions from that one to yours.

Yes. The first night is ostensibly a 'one night off' before your real training begins (though, of course, there's trouble you can get into if you look for it...). If Jeff & Stu are playing online, but need more time, we can say they decided to stay in the car with Giles while the rest of you go for a little R&R (or recon...)

    That would rock!

Let's give Ibuki another day to post his PC. If he does, let's plan on starting Monday (giving Ken time to build his token), otherwise I'll post an image of the main casino floor tomorrow.

Either way, we don't need initiatives yet to go into the casino so feel free to post how you wanted to enter. (i.e. main entrance, parking garage enterance, all at the same time, staggered, what items you are leaving in the car or carrying...) Is Angel & Ember going in as a young couple arm in arm?

I'll leave my weapons in the car, but I'll bring my stake, concealed on my body.
First thing I'll do is locate the gift shop and buy some badass sunglasses. Then I will go play some craps until I lose or win $100.00.

While Telgarth's family is one of sun worshipers, he was one of the more extreme practioners. He reveres the cleansing of the sun and light of hope and the compassion of life. Through his research/worship of many of the sun deities, his studies lead him to the discovery of an ancient tome of Pelor. He would often search the antique shops and even spent a summer at a dig site of Pelor. It was at this dig that Telgarth discovered the symbol of Pelor among the debris. After showing the site academia the token, Telgarth borrowed the piece to meditate. It was then he had the vision of Pelor and Boarblade protecting the less fortunate. At the end of the summer, the head of the dig gave Telgarth the minor token in appreciation; never knowing how important it was to Telgarth.

While Telgarth excelled in studies and athletics as a child, he found little solace in the ‘normal’ sports. Too often in the heat of competition, he would be savage almost animalistic; exhibiting enormous strength, speed and endurance. Many years ago, he was introduced to the calming influence of Tai Chi. He expended considerable effort to become well versed in many of the different forms, but was exquisite at the sword forms. Being a perfectionist, he then began studying other styles of sword play (medieval and other martial arts.)

As Giles and Telgarth escaped into the darkness, Boarblade managed to grab both of his prized possessions, the ancient Pelor holy symbol and the Tai Chi sword.

It looks as though both of your at-will powers are ranged attacks.

Not sure if you wanted to have one melee and one ranged, otherwise you'll have to rely on melee basic attacks for adjacent enemies or provoke an AoO (unless you're going to have a way to avoid AoOs).

Per the intro, you weren't able to escape the attack on your family with that much stuff. You have 1d4*50gp, 1 worn item (cloth armor), and 2 hand carried items. (We'll count ammo & x-bow as 1 carried item... say they're tied together or something)
    1. longsword
    2. adventurer's kit
    3. hand crossbow (& bolts)
    4. holy symbol

You only have 1/2 of these, your pick. Oh, except Giles, your Watcher, also gives you 100gp and a wooden stake.

A description of the Dieties & their symbols are on pp20-22 in the PHB. A holy symbol can be anything now that has the Dieties symbol on it, but most often an emblem worn on your clothes.

Holy Symbols are the best implement in the game. You don't have to actually wield it, it can be worn. Could be just a button or even a band as long as it has the symbol on it.

Yes, there are some specific weapons that also double as holy symbols. I would get an emblem as well just to make sure that you can always use it even if you get disarmed.

In 4E, I'm only aware of specific magic weapons that can be used as holy symbols (crusader's weapon, disrupting weapon, holy avenger...)

They did away with that. You don't get any advantage there by choosing one God over another. (Except for various feat choices...)

As Ken posted, some special weapons can be holy symbols, but they're not particular to any God.

    To everyone else...
To minimize the downtime between 1st and 6th level can you post the 6th level versions of your PCs?

That way I can get started on the tokens for Brad. I'm not sure how many encounters we'll have at 1st level, but I'd like to get a head start. Smile

We're not even done with the first round of combat yet. I had a little more planned than that... We still have to stop the ritual and find some treasure.

Speaking of, please include a 6th level magic item you'd like on your wishlist too.

Yea it may be a ways off, but it could take 1-2 days per token depending on my work schedule.

If we wait until the first level encounters are over then it could be a week or so before we could start up the 6th level encounters.

Hey, could someone recreate a Buffy-verse PC thread? I'd like for everyone to repost their PCs there so we only have 5 (or maybe soon 6) posts. We can keep this thread for Q&A about PCs in the Buffy-verse campagin. I think that'd be much cleaner and easier for us to utilize.

Also, if you haven't already, please include a wish list of possible 7th or 8th level items you'd like to happen to find... perhaps really soon. Ashe, you too. Please don't feel you need not bother simply because you already discovered a pretty nice magic item. (...the first one any of you have ever seen, btw.)
