Gamma World - High Tech Weapons, Classes, and 10th Level Max

View previous topic View next topic Go down  Message [Page 1 of 1]

Okay, I've had a chance to look through my Gamma world stuff and have a few observations...

High Tech weapons; just by random draw, on my Omega cards I do have the following; 2 Handed (leaky) Fusion Rifle (7d8 dam), 2 Handed Freeze Ray Rifle (2d10 and stun), 1 Handed Laser Pistol (1d10/rd or 4d8/enc), 1 Handed Single Use AT Rocket (Burst 1), Ray Gun, a Shoulder Mounted Laser Cannon with mirror for your helmet so you can hit targets behind you, various grenades (including Dream Grenade, burst 1, range 20, hit - targets fall unconscious (save ends), miss, targets are dazed but if you roll a "20", the burst is a burst 20 instead of a burst 1 - e.g. you get yourself!), Lightsaber type weapon, Powered Battle Armor (think Clone Troopers, +8 AC, +1 Fort, +1 Ref, and Resist 5 all), Inviso Armor, Inertial Armor (light armor) and a ton of other cool stuff.

Brad, you might not have to "make up" rules or reskin existing items, you might be able to use some of the items from Gamma World.

I think some of the classes are "interesting" to say the least. Will players have random characters as the game rules outline or will players be allowed to select thier two races? Are there some character sheet templates for GW? I know there's not a character builder program for this yet.

For figures, are we thinking of using D&D figures? I didn't see any GW figures at the one gaming store Kobe and stopped at. Does anyone think that standard 4.0 Dungeon and Dragon PC's from Westron could play successfully in a pre-made GW adventure?

Yep, the game is based on 4.0 but the rules stop at 10th level. If the game becomes popular, I'm sure there will be an expansion pack that we can buy.

It's so easy to build a character I don't think it will every have a formal character builder. Also, were those items based on the cards? If you read the rules the cards are basically one encounter use items for he most part. Some of the weapons can be used over, but have a limited life based on the die rolls.

I think we could use the cards ongoing (both Omega and the Alpha), but I don't think the PC's are made to continue past 10t at this time. I'm sure house rules will show up soon though. There are Character Sheet Templates you can print out, and some come with the game as well. I have them on the Gamma World Resource page as a link to my website.

See page 69 of the rulebook regarding using the Omega Tech cards.

Yep, read page 69. Quite of few of the items / weapons I have do have the option for a PC of Level "X" to repair the item such that it becomes an "at will" item that is permanent (e.g. you don't discard the card at the end of the encounter or end of adventure). The "at will" powers are weaker than the encounter powers, but not by too much. I've decided my weapon of choice is a Mk 3 Energy Pistol (R 20, 2d8/ rd) no ammo needed; need to find me one of these.
