...I don't recommend going into any Police Station and asking generally for a complaint form! ...Or participating in any peaceful demonstration. Or asking about 'Posse Comitatus', calling them when you need help,...

...oh man, the segment on police being brutal is completely BS. With the huge number of police nation wide, there are bound to be examples of some that are brutal/ bad. If you're at all trying to make a case that anytime anyone calls the police for help that the police are going to brutally assault you in your own home or take you back to the station and assault you there OR that for every large, peaceful public gathering a troop of riot police are going to show up and arrest everyone, well...that's beyond belief. Yes, there may be cases where these thing have happened but if you're at all attempting to put forth the position that these kind of incidences are the usual, common place occuranced and the SOP of the vast majority of law enforcement officers, then I have to ask you for additional clairification...

test it out & tell me... pick a station and innocently ask for a complaint form. Let me know if they give you one with no hassles....

It's like everything else. The out of the norm stuff makes news. The boring stuff gets overlooked. The .01% of the activity causes 99.99% of laws and rules.
One person does something and they make a law to make sure it doesn't happen again, depending on who makes the loudest noise.

The next time you're coming back from a funeral, dressed in a $2,500.00 imported black business suit, stop in at the small neighborhood sherrif's office that's next to the road. Check your FB wall, that's Wow Wow in the picture.

Do you think that made any difference? So, no hassles I take it?

hmmm...well groomed professional looking business man in a very nice, quiet neighborhood in the middle of the day might have different results than a teenager in torn, dirty jeans, who stinks, and goes to a large urban station at night that's in a "rough" neighborhood.

You may be right there. I hope you didn't have to leave your name or any contact info. Maybe you should try it again as above to see. But just as the light bulb link, my position is that these are prevelent, but not absolutes. I'm mildly surprised still that even in these ideal circumstances they didn't question you at all...

...so, regarding the "police state" video, a Seattle Police Officer, whom I have known nearly my entire life and who has as high a degree of integrity of anyone I would recommend, indicates that many of the larger stations in Seattle have cameras on the public service desk 24/7 and that any public relations office that is rude in anyway to anyone who approaches the desk to ask a question is at high risk for disiplinary action as all of those interactions are recorded.

Now, I assume that you (Brad) may take the position that my friend is lying because he has been corrupted by the system but I present his statement here as an alternate position for consideration.

Information from the internet, no matter how reasonable it may sound, does not mean in any way that such information is true. IOW, just because something makes sense and sounds perfectly reasonable, does not make it factual. Actual personal experience is the very best form of evidence/ proof of truth. I try not to trust "experts", tradition, and heresay. Call me a doubter.

Your crazy Stu.
Everyone knows everything on the internet is true. I know because I just wrote it on here, and this forum is on the internet. Thus it's true. You just can't beat that logic...at least that's what all the crazies say.

You'd be incorrect. I don't take anything on faith (or belief).

Teramotos wrote:...Actual personal experience is the very best form of evidence/ proof of truth. I try not to trust "experts", tradition, and heresay...

...and "common knowledge". I find the "well everybody knows that"-type 'facts' pretty worthless too.

I've been using this thread to both share with you all, and save in one spot, links to all the information that many won't even consider, I realize, but regardless of whether or not any of you agree with my convictions, or even if my convictions ultimately prove to be incorrect, I have never trusted "experts, tradition, & hearsay". That's kind of an insulting way to dismiss the info I've been learning about & want to share.

Look at my feelings towards how martial arts is taught as an example... Before I started taking classes, when did anyone hear me grouse about how much crap was in MA? (I'm going to guess never, not once) My first MA class I took was Kendo from a VERY high degree black belt. (You know Gary) and he is by any/every definition an 'expert' (and he taught me a hell of a lot!). He'll still remember me, I'm sure, and can tell you how I rank even his "expertise", and "tradition" compared to my first hand personal experience, of a friend & I who basically self taught ourselves swordfighting from Star Wars, et al.

...And then I groused about how rigid KENDO was, not all MA, and have since taken introductory classes in around 2 dozen different schools/styles over the next few years trying to find a good fit, see for myself what works. It was only after I garnered all that PERSONAL EXPERIENCE that I started grousing about MA in general. Expertise, tradition, and hearsay all directly contradict my views.

Same with everything I've posted here... It's all weighed against my personal experiences. As others are waking up quickly now, I'm confident you'll all begin to see what I've been trying to show. Yes, I was hoping some of you would wake up sooner than later, but that's only part of the reason I've been sharing links here...

Here's a great 11 min clip about 'sacred geometry'. It's amazing how everything comes down to math.

"All life is biology,
all biology is chemistry,
all chemistry is physics,
all physics is math."

Life & the whole universe can be explained & better understood with fairly simply math concepts. We live an an amazing world...

Ron Paul, Republican candidate for president speaking with Mike Maloney on the impending crisis with the dollar and why investing in gold and silver makes sense. IMHO, Mr. Paul is the only candidate who has a monetary policy that I, as an economist, agree with.

Monopoly Money...
Ha!! I wouldn't have believed it until I pulled actual bills out of my wallet and then looked at money from the old monopoly set.

Now, the $100 isn't on here but there's a brand new, yet to be released $100, and guess what color it is? Yep, just like the monopoly bill. Hmmm...in monopoly there's a $500.00 bill - haven't seen one of those in circulation in the US for years - they were discontinued. Maybe the Federal Reserve and the Treasury will have to bring back the $500 because they think we'll have a bit more inflation than the 2% the BLS keeps telling us we're at.

Oh, the $100 in monopoly is a light gold color and the $500 is dark gold, wonder if someone is trying to tell us something?
