WAR! The What's Up Dock Mission Empty WAR! The What's Up Dock Mission

Post by Teramotos Wed May 19, 2010 12:29 pm

After returning from the Zemya Major Mission, MC Turco summons Section Chief Cedarick and several other team members from Strikeforce Black and briefs them.
Turco "The Royalists have established some sort of new supply route very near the front lines that is feeding critical supplies to thier forces much faster than before. We suspect the key to the new supply route is some sort of hidden dock. Before we can send an assault force to cut this new supply line, we need to know where the supply line is and what its defenses are. Strikeforce Black will proceed south 20 miles to the area around the village of Starfire. As usual, you will be miles behind enemy lines. Your primary mission is to locate the dock and as well as conditions permit, bring back detailed information regarding the Royalist forces stationed there, the defenses in the immediate area, and your informed intelligence regarding any perceived weaknesses in those defenses. You are to avoid detection by Royalist forces if at all possible. If the enemy realizes that we have located this critical supply point, they will take steps to either change thier supply route or upgrade their defenses. You can choose to approach the area near the village of Starfire by either passing through our own lines and heading up the coast via an overland route, or risk the Royalist blockade and have Captain Pike and the Siloette insert you into the area. If you choose the later, Captain Pike will not be able to extract you. If you travel overland, we can schedule Pike to pick you up on the fourth night of your mission. Discuss with your team as to which insertion method you feel gives you the best balance of stealth and success.

Be advised that Strikeforce Green, including Tabi and Talon, were sent on the same mission eight days ago and they are three days overdue. We have had no word of them since they left our lines seven days ago. Two lone rescuers who have high stealth and mobility were sent two days ago and both have reported back that they have not located any signs of Strikeforce Green. Your secondary mission is to determine the fate of Strikeforce Green. This mission is secondary and you will not compromise the success of your primary mission under any circumstances to achieve this secondary mission. If you manage to locate any members of Strikeforce Green, determine thier condition and if pratical, return them to our lines; again only if you can remain undetected and still complete your primary mission. If you return with thier location and condition, we can send a purpose staffed reaction and rescue force.

The Master Chief will brief you with the names and descriptions of the SF Green team members as well as the two person rescue party we already sent, at the Warning Briefing when you are given the current challenge phrases and passwords. After you have decided your route of insertion, I will issue a warning order and alert the appropriate commands of your passing through our lines or secure the Silloette's support as appropriate. If there are no questions, then you are dismissed."

Questions? Also update your wishlists 3rd to 8th level items and select which insertion route your team will take. FYI, SF Green went overland.

What insertion route will the party take? Get dropped off by boat and risk the blockade or travel overland to the village?

I vote for overland. Hunter is an expert tracker so he can attempt to find signs of Strikeforce Green as well as make our own tracks more difficult to follow. Plus being able to make a hasty exit by boat sounds like a good idea.

I am Master Chief Dana (female elf Ranger), Section Chief Cedarick, please delegate one of your number to draw equipment from SC Incyrus, our unit Quartermaster. Chief Amoon here (a heavily armored fighter with the typical brown uniform but with red trim) and his Bloodhawks will be your escort through our own lines. They will make sure you make it through the enemy front line and escort you part of the way to the village but no more than two miles behind the front before they return to our lines.

The challenge for this mission is "Cassandra" and the password is "Galbreth". The trouble password is "Kazama".

Strike Force Green was a five man unit led by Guardsman Sora, a female dragonborn warlord mercenary. Troopers Talon the druid and Tabi the shifter you know. Also in TF Green were Trooper Harbek, a dwarf scout, and Cagvree, a human duelist who uses two sabers. There were dressed in tan and green with olive cloaks. They are three days overdue and have not been heard from. Do not endanger completing your primary mission of bringing back information on the new enemy supply route to save members of TF Green.

This is Master Chief Bender (a middle aged man wearing a tan uniform but no armor steps forward). He will brief you on our efforts to find TF Green.
Bender (tosses two robes on the ground) - speaks in Primordial "Come forth my daughters". There's a whirlwind of dust and the robes each take the shape of a very beautiful woman but the you don't see them at all, just their shape. A pair of wispy female voices (in Primordial) say "We're here father."
Bender (in Gargarian) - This is Wendy and Gale, they are spirits of the air and have been searching for TF Green. In a moment, I will send them off to continue thier search but I wanted them to meet you. (Bender hands one of the PCs a feathered headband) If they find anything, they will attempt to seek you out. They will return to me here in any event in four days. The magic of this headband that allows you to speak to Wendy and Gale will last for about a week. Go ahead, chat with them...

After the PC has chatted with the two air spirits, Mater Chief Dana sends the party on thier way.

The PC who went to draw equipment from the Quartermater received:
    2 Healing Potions
    2 Anti Toxins
1 Spyglass (+10 perception for a 20' area 200' or more away, -10 perception for areas not being spied upon. Standard action to use. Must be returned at the end of the mission.)

So, to filter all the obfuscation and summerize, tonight's adventure is:

Primary Mission: Covertly assess all info regarding a certain enemy shipping dock.
Secondary Mission: Assertain what happened to previous team sent on PM

RE: PM. Choice: travel there by boat, return by land or, travel there by land, return by boat. (previous team traveled there by land & didn't return)
"The challenge for this mission is "Cassandra" and the password is "Galbreth". The trouble password is "Kazama"."
    RE: SM.
"This is Master Chief Bender (a middle aged man wearing a tan uniform but no armor steps forward). He will brief you on our efforts to find TF Green.

    ...I hope that's right anyway.

What route did Strike Force Green travel?
Regardless, we will go by land.

Brad, you pretty much hit it. TF Green went by land. The party is going by land and will hopefully return via sea.
