1 Level 2 South on Sun Apr 04, 2010 12:49 pm

Once the southern doors are opened, the PCs cautiously advance...

To the south the party can see it goes quite a ways and further to the south the floor seems to be covered by a pinkish/purple glistening liquid.

To the east you can see corridors going north and south. The walls to the north east seem to be rubble and not the solid stone that makes up the walls of the pyramid you're accustomed to.

What do you want to do?

Current PC status:
Candelos 78/78hp with 11/14 surges
Kaddim 75/79hp with 8/11 surges
Miri 57/58hp with 5/9 surges
Sonya 59/66hp with 6/9 surges
Thia 65/65hp with 2/7 surges

Miri will cast sucessive 'Mage Hand' and 'Light' spells (both at-will powers) to move rubble and investigate as far as in spell range from the non-rubble corridor. We are looking for treasure, evidence of what was here and/or what caused all the rubble, and to see if the rubble leads to a way out of the prison.

Sonya will start to move slowly East, moving at reduced speed in order to make an active perception check each round.

Will Sonya be taking the lead?

What will the party order be?

Thia will be next to Sonya as her perception is really high.

6 Re: Level 2 South on Mon Apr 05, 2010 8:33 am

yeah, Sonya will take the lead w Thia 5' behind (higher perception).
If the others choose to follow, a sensible order would be Kaddim, Miri, then Caldelos. A 10' gap between Thia and Kaddim and a 5' gap between each of the others. Sonya will have Light Guardian Shield and Javalin in the left hand and Axe in the other.

Traveling east the PCs come to what looks like several makeshift buildings. The structures are composed of scraps of wood and stone and don't look very sturdy.

From one of the northeast structures you can hear a voice in common, but can't understand what he's saying. Occasionally there is a pause and you hear what sounds like clapping.

The corridor extends to the north and east. You can also see a corridor to the south.

...Sonya will motion for the party to follow her to the east. Sonya will put her finger to her lips as she turns to the party and then will move silently, at half speed to the east. Continue to make perception checks. Move until Sonya gets to the opening she can see that goes north, about 60' down the hall. Stop short so if it is a room to the north, Sonya will still be in the hall and outside line of sight.

Sorry, the description I gave and the map already has Sonya and Thia at the first northern intersection.

The buildings look to be about 10' tall and the ceiling is 20' up.

From where the party is you can make out three buildings.
1. Directly to your NE, you believe this is where the noises are coming from.
2. north of you roughly 60' ahead.
3. east at the end of the corridor. You can see lots of debri and garbage on the ground around this building.

So you wish to travel north or east. You can also make out a corridor that leads south about 50' east of you.

As you travel east you start to smell a terrible stench. It seems to be coming from the building to the east. As you approach you notice that the door is slightly open and it looks like an uncleaned latrine.

To the north, Thia can occasionaly see cloaked figures walk east/west.

You can also hear more voices. The voices in the building to your north are a bit louder and you can hear other voices that aren't as muffled, they sound like praying to your north. Many of the words are in common, but the words seem random and don't understand what they're saying.

The corridor to the south goes about 40' then turns west.

Heading north the party peeks around a corner to the northeast and see many robed figures moving about a large demonic looking statue.

The statue looks cruedly made and depicts a demon with four arms.

The robed figures look human, though some seem to be badly deformed and others look diseased.

The ones near the statue are on their knees praying. They don't seem to notice the party.

What do you do?

Sonya make sure she is out of line of sight of the doorway and motion to the group, holding up fingers (multiple times) to note how many potential enemies are in the room. Then she'll give the motion that she wants to comence an attack (I think these are definately the "Cultists" and if they're worshiping a demonic four armed statue, they can't be good. We have the element of surprise, Sonya will wait for head nods from the group.

Assuming the group agrees, Sonya will hold up three fingers and "Count Down" to zero (attack now). I would assume that we'd move into visual position, then each party member would get a standard action (surprise round) since we were aware and they weren't; then initiative would apply to both sides.

Oh, and I"m saying all of this even though I can't see the map.

Thia wispers to Sonya that she can see seven robed figures.

PC initiative order is Thia, Candelos, Sonya, Kaddim, then Miri

Can you delay during a surprise round? Thia would like Sonya to go before her.

Yes, you can delay during a surprise round.

Thia is delaying.

Currently Candelos' turn, then Sonya...

Standard: attack with Holy Strike

Holy Strike Paladin Attack 1
At-Will ✦ Divine, Radiant, Weapon
Standard Action Melee weapon

Sonya's turn:
Move Action: Move 2 N, move 2 W (accepting an AoO if he gets one), and then 1 NW (so that I end up flanking w Candelos the one to my east)
Standard Action: If Candelos downed the one to my East with one blow, I'll make a basic attack against the one to my West. If Candelos hit the one to my east and did not down him, use Hammer and Anvil against the one to the east and give Candelos an extra attack after I make my attack. If Candelos missed the one to my east, strike at the one to the east with a Basic Attack w Flanking.
...done...

Candelos' turn:

Standard: use Holy Strike
HS 23 vs Ac hits for 14hp of damage. The robed figure falls.

Sonya's turn... then Thia

I'll take my turn as stated above. Note, I thought Candelos was 1 more to the N. Anyway, move to the same square I was going to move to and then use a MBA on the figure to my West.

Krystoff wrote:I thought we got Standard actions only with a surprise round?

That is correct.

Candelos wouldn't have been able to move and attack.

Candelos couldn't move NW because of the wall (can't move diagonal around a corner).

Candelos' turn revised:
Move: move adjacent to robed figure at the alter.

Sonya's turn, you may want to revise your action since you can only move in the surprise round since there are no targets in range.
