Battlefield Bad Company 2 for the PC

Supposed to be released sometime in March 2010.

Just got in to the Beta for this. Will let you know how it plays.

My computer won't run the game.
I'm just short on Processing power. The game will run, but when I get into the game I'm really laggy. Looks good though.

I can't run it either. I'll to upgrade when all these new game come out.

I'm going to see how much it will cost to upgrade my processor. Probably will be too expensive though.

There will likely other hardware bottleneck point in a older system.

Damon pickup two copies of BBC2 and found out he couldn't play it.
Now he has 2 new PCs on order from Dell.
Do you think this is going to be the replacement game for BF2 for our group?
All of us will need upgrades or new PCs to play it.

I picked this up and so far I like it. Has similar problems to all FPS games but so far it is enjoyable.

If you have at least a dual core you should be fine. If everyone gets it I'll upgrade, but I'm not going to bother if it's just a couple of you.

When I first started playing I had some reservations about the game but now that I have played a bit I am loving the game.

The unlocks make the game so much better! The first assault weapon sucks horribly, once you get the 4th or 5th gun it has more damage and is much more accurate plus the addition of scopes (red dot or 4x) makes it much more viable.

Things have been streamlined like the "Q" or socialize button. This takes the place of all of the pop up menus from BF2 such as hailing a ride, spotting enemies, asking for health or ammo, squad commands etc. However, there is no menu you have to be pointing at the thing that you want and it does that. IE if you are looking at a spawn point you control and press Q it tells your squad to defend that point. If that spawn point was the enemies, it tells them to attack it. If you look at an assault person it tells them you want ammo and if that person is a medic it tells them you want health. Fairly cool but takes some getting used to.

You can spawn on any person in the squad of 4 and there are no longer any squad leaders.

Assault has the ammo box and anyone around the box gets ammo back including yourself. You also get unlimited uses of throwing out the box but only one can be out at a time. Same thing with the medic\health box.

So far really good stuff. I am Krystoff in the game just like in BF2 so invite me as a friend if you get the game.

Brad, now that you have a new laptop, do you plan on playing BF2BC?

Is it a one time expense to buy the game only, or is there a monthly fee? If it's the former, then yeah, sounds like fun. If it's the latter, then no, I have enough expenses.

It's a one timeexpense.
There should be a single player mode you can play. (more for practice)
Or you can jump into the online multiplayer mode and shot-up by 12 year olds like Scott.
It will be a fast/high pace/fun first person shooter.

You should do a little of the single player to get used to controls, but as soon as you can start playing multiplayer. You can become too used to the single player game to the point where it hinders you. If you goto SteamPowered.com you can buy and download the game and start playing right away.

Stu & Brad, are you guys going to start playing BF2BC?
You can get your ass shot up like I am.

It took me until level 3 to really the the hang of things Mick, but I've been playing Rambo style and running in on Rush games trying to get the win, so I tend to die alot. I usually get quite a few points doing repairs, ammo and medic heals and rez's.
Working on engineer right now, and once I'm done with that I'll have all the class unlocks, then I won't care what classes I play.
Brad and Stu, hurry up and get in the game.

One of the fastest ways to get your level up is to use the accessories. Liberal use of ammo packs for assault, med packs for medic, and the repair tool for engineer.

Speaking of the engineer, once you get the repair tool if you find a good tank driver and be their gunner/repair guy you can really rack up the points. Make sure you jump into their squad for even more points.

Rush maps provide for some decent experience as well since they usually go longer than the conquest maps and you can get the pins and insignias. If you are the defenders make sure you press q when looking at the flag and that will send a defend order and you then get 30 points per kill for a flag defense.

Another good way to do things is to grab other peoples gear. For a while David would grab my kit when I died and then revive me to give me his. I didn't like the exchange nearly as much as he did.

By the way, you have to get out of vehicles and actually use the repair tool to fix things. It's not like BF2 where you could follow them in another vehicle. You can only throw down one Med and Ammo Pack at a time. If you throw a 2nd one down the first one vanishes. Usually I find a sniper and throw one or the other down at his location. Easy points right there.

Last night I think I got 11 awards in one game. It was pretty sweet. I think I only killed 5 people that game too. Helping others gives lots of points.

Alright, I'm meeting a new resident tomorrow night around 6, then cooking & eating dinner, but after that I plan on installing & playing the new BF2BC game I finally bought! Who can play tomorrow & when? Let me know, I'll be playing.

Oh, and since it's a new computer, can someone forward me the link to download Ventrillo (or whatever we're using to talk)? ...and any passwords/server names I need?

Yes, we use Ventrio. Ross would be the best place to get PW/Server info.
You may want to install tonight to play tomorrow. It's about an Hour to install and install the latest updates.

That was my plan, but I was thinking an hour to install BF2 AND Ventrillo... maybe my estimates are off. :-(

Vent will take about 5 minutes to install but you will need to download it. Not sure if you are on broadband or not but it is a very small file.

The install and update process for a large game like BF2 can be time consuming but it can be done while doing other things. I would also highly suggest you play at least the first single player mission to get used to the aiming and the movement keys. The game play in the multiplayer is different though so don't get too used to it. Little more twichy since they are out to get you too and they will have more weapon options than you do.

Stu, when are you going to get on to BF2BC?

Took me a lot longer than an hour... I didn't notice my sleep mode was only 15 mins & it kept shutting off on me.

I now have Ventrillo installed, but I haven't tested it. I also spent a couple hours playing last night on single. I'm getting killed a lot, and the Sarge kept yelling at me to "use my binoculars to mark the target" and I'm still not sure what I did to switch to binoculars, but I got past that encounter, but I'm getting better at switching to scope & sniping from long range. It's definitely a lot of fun so far! Can't wait until you guys tell me how some of the unlocks work...

Great Brad. Now that your in you can add all of us.

In the main menu you'll see a menu bar on the bottom left hand of your screen titled 'FRIENDS'. Click on that and it will pull up a window. On the bottom click the +ADD FRIEND button, and do a search for each of us and do a SEND REQUEST to add us. Once we get the request we will add you and we'll show up on your FRIEND LIST.

Then you'll be able to see if we are playing, and you can just select us to hop into our game, and onto our team and squad if there is room.

Brad and I played today and we got him all set up with Vent and added all of you as friends. Make sure you accept him. He is Malachai or something like that. We played a hard core deathmatch and he actually got a kill. I showed him the different classes and starter equipment and HUD basics so he should be good to go tonight.

Here is a little tutorial. It has lots of info. It's for XBox 360, so the button combinations he's talking about will not work for the PC. Use your manual to see what keys to use. Pay particular attention to the Spot button (Q). Most players don't do it, which a lot of times can cost you the game.
