TKD - Portland Championships

...for videos, see my wall on facebook. Kobe - 1st Place Gold Medal, PeeWee Advanced Middleweight Fighting, Grand Champion. Stuart Teramoto 2nd Place Silver Medal, Men's Lightweight Advanced Fighting. Competed in, but did not place, forms (Kobe and Stuart), breaking (Stuart), and team competition (Kobe). Kobe managed to overcome a penalty point (kicking opponent in the head) and still score enough points to win. In my match that decided first or second, I received two warnings from the official, striking my opponent with the instep of my foot and excessive contact with a straight punch to the body. Couldn't score enough points and lost 2.5 to 2.0.

Long day, but saw just a ton of cool martial arts.

Wow! Grand champion? That rocks, and is in the only catagory that ultimately matters, the fighting competition! :-) How many peewee's in the field?

Second is pretty good too! Again, how many in the field?

6/6, but I really thought my form was good enough to place (out of 15 competitors), didn't think my chances were that good in the breaking - think I placed around 5th out of 12.

Brad, I sent you a couple of videos to your facebook page. One is of Jeannie, head instructor and 4th degree black belt at the Queen Anne school, repeating as Women's Grand Champion (sixth time?). The second is of Emma, a brown belt (same rank as myself) who is still quite young in comparison and I think has potential to someday give Jeannie a run for the title.
