Is the group going to do anything else in this area?

Short rest?

Quinn took one round of fire damage, then made his save.
Kaddim was blinded for an extra two round while Miri was checking the desk.


Current Status:
Kaddim 57/73hp 10/11 surges
Sonya 32/61hp 7/9 surges
Thia 60/60hp 6/7 surges
Miri 44/54p 9/9 surges (didn't use the surge earlier...)
Quinn 58/73hp 7/11 surges
Candelos 23/72hp 14/14 surges

Kaddim can use the goggles now. Each use is an encounter power so it takes 5 minutes per use.

The first use I'm assuming will go toward Candelos. Candelos is diseased. It will require a heal check to determine the exact disease and to determine the proper treatment.

Do you want to wait and try the goggles an anyone else?

Yes, she'll keep track of treasure & dust whatever people don't want to craft items with. On that note, speak up if you want 8th level or lower items crafted...

Who wants, or at least wants to hold until we extended rest, any of these items? Can anyone use the wand? If multiple people want the healing potions, I say Sonya & Candelos should have least priority for these, since they can both heal. I think it makes most sense for Thia & Miri to take the potions since we have the lowest surge values (& potions are capped), but I suspect Miri is the only one who can use the wand so will defer holding a potion. (Kaddim, can you use the wand?) We need volunteers to hold party treasure...

Short rest sounds in order so Sonya & Candelos can use some healing surges, & Sonya & Candelos can try a heal check to cure disease on Candelos.

While we're short resting, Miri will have Kaddim accompany her while she examines the mirrors. Are they mundane? Magical? If they're gold, magical, or especially nice, we'll grab Thia & have her decipher if they'd be worth our time to take down & carry with us (to dust into residuum later).
Side note: If, AFTER we've rested, taking down the mirrors (assuming there's any value in them) will enrage the Devils, I definately say we take them! (I'll cast Tensor's Floating Disk to carry them, since mirrors are pretty heavy...) After that, I concur with everyone else, to the second level! :-)

...need to use surges. I have no problem taking the mirrors if they are worth something.
Since I can heal people, including myself, I say that someone who will have a good chance of being farthest away from me (and Candelos) should hold the potions of healing. Quinn, Kaddim and Thia come to mind.
Miri should hold the wand.

The mirrors do seem to be enchanted. When removed they become brittle and shatter easily. New mirrors start appearing 5-6 rounds after a mirror is removed.

You're unable to help Candelos at this time with his disease. But you are able to identify the cause. It looks like he's contracted Moon Frenzy from the bite of a lycanthrope. Candelos is in it's final stage.

Any damage causes him to go into a beserked rage attacking any adjacent creatures, then creatures in sight.

After a few minutes Kaddim is able to check out Quinn and he seems to have the same affliction. Quinn is not yet at the final stage, he only goes beserk if he misses a save at the end of his turn while bloodied.

Will Kaddim be checking any other party members?

After the party heals up a bit, Kaddim uses his goggles and heal checks are made to determine the parties status:

Current Status:
Kaddim 73/73hp 9/11 surges
Sonya 61/61hp 5/9 surges (Poisoned)
Thia 60/60hp 6/7 surges
Miri 44/54p 9/9 surges
Quinn 58/73hp 7/11 surges (Diseased)
Candelos 59/72hp 11/14 surges (Diseased)


After checking the party members it seems that Sonya has been poisoned. She feels just fine with no adverse symptoms, but the goggles show that she's poisoned.

So, do any of us have some ability to cure poison or Moon Fever? Can the potion of endurance help somehow?
Sonya will ask the skull how we can be cured of these aflictions.

Regardless of what the skull says, Sonya (out of sight of the skull) will ask the Orb the same question. If the Orb is still cool toward Sonya, Sonya will prompt Candelos to ask the Orb nicely for advice.

Unless the skull or orb gives us a clue as to how to cure our aflictions, I say we head toward the second level (if we can find it).

The skull says he doesn't know how to cure humanoid afflictions. There's a library somewhere on this level that may have answers.

Candelos takes a look at Sonya's using his heal skill. The poison seems to have been injected into a cut on your hand...

Not really, we can't really have you guys running around diseased and poisoned. Once Candelos goes full blown Lycanthrope, he will infect the rest of us. In fact, that maybe how Quinn got infected.

I'm guessing since they regenerate we can't dust the mirrors for residuum. Darn, I thought that was going to be great treasure! I'm guessing I would have found that out before spending the 10gp on Tensor's Floating Disk to carry them out...

I think we need to make curing Candelos & Quinn a priority, so we should find the library before exploring the second level. I say we backtrack back to the Quicklings, since they might know where the library is, and also back to the Humans, since Ferrence might know how to cure Moon Frenzy. New marching order, let's have Candelos in the back.

...agree with Thia and Miri. Definately cannot explore the second level with Candelos and Quinn affected. Good idea to review the areas we've already been (less monsters) to see if they know either how to cure the aflictions or if they know where the library is... Kaddim and Sonya should be in front. Candelos might be good for sending after "lone" monsters that are away from the rest of us.

Note on disease/poison:

Diseases:
The PCs would know that after each extended rest an infected PC can make an Endurance check to improve one stage, stabilize, or get worse. A Heal check can be used in place of an Endurance check. There are also rituals that can be performed that will cure diseases.

Poisons:
A Heal or Nature check can be used to determine the type of poison and to gain information on how the infected person is being affected. A Heal check can usually be performed to cure the victim. (knowing how the infected person got that way may help...)

Thia has really high Nature (16) and a decent Heal (9). I will do a nature check for the poison and will assist whomever tries to heal Sonya.

Thia determines that the poison was injected into a cut in Sonya's hand. Sonya would remember cutting herself there, then shaking the Arborean leader's hand...

Candelos, with Thia's help, are able to remove the poison (DC20 Heal check, 9+11+2 was rolled). While doing so, a tiny seed is extracted from Sonya. The seed is magical...

Miri and Kaddim take a look at the seed and determine that it allows the following:
-2 to attacks vs the creature who implanted it.
The creature that implanted it knows the distance, direction, and health of the creature with the seed.

Removing the seed caused it to loose those properties.

As far as the diseased PC, heal checks have to be made as part of an extended rest and then only replace an endurance check which could shift the disease stage by one.

...the next time we take and extended rest, the two best people with healing should try to aid the two with moon fever, the other two should try to assist with + 2.
It is also my understanding that the aflicted person can take the better of their own Endurance check or the Heal check made by others; greatly increasing the chance of getting better.

This sounds like a hint from the GM, and Miri doesn't have this ritual. Everyone check your papers to see if you have this ritual. Definately cast it on our affected boys if so, and maybe Ferrence too, if he wants to be cured & pays the gp component cost. Only 1 encounter I know of was plant based to poison us with seeds (& wanted to keep tabs on us via Quickling spies). They were a tough enounter, but we advanced a level since meeting them... you guys think we can take them out? If we trhink we're up to it, I say we try... It's the least we can do for them poisoning us!
