New Millennium Q&A

The Sisters of Abby Island are in need of a group of experienced adventures to help one of their sisters who has fallen ill. The group will need to travel to Millennium Island which is known for its difficult challenges and high rewards.

So far the following adventurers have responded to the Sisters call for help:
Ross - Kaddim (Male Genasi Swordmage) (Defender)
Brad - Miri (Female Human Wizard) (Controller)
Chris - Thia (Female Elven Ranger) (Striker)
Mickey - Candelos (Male Eladrin Paladin)

Available pre-made PCs
Mikal (Male Human Cleric) (Leader)
Varis (Male Elven Rogue) (Striker)
Quinn (Male Human Fighter) (Defender)

This adventure will be for 4-6 7th level characters. The characters may be chosen from the premade characters that I have created (listed above) or a player may use an existing Westron character or create a new character. A balanced party would be best, but I’ll leave party makeup to the players. If the group wants to play with 5 rogues, then that’s their choice (though the Sisters may end up sending a second group as the fist got TPK’d…)

This will be an online only adventure and will be conducted using MapTools (1.3.b50)/Ventrilo. I’m planning on having at least 1 two-three hour session every two to three weeks most likely during weekday evenings (more if scheduling permits).

Notes:

1. All player made characters must be created using the WotC Character Builder program and a copy of the character needs to be sent to me.
   
2. All characters need to have a MapTools token created using the “Veggie Man” macros. (I’ve created tokens for the 6 PCs named above).
   
3. Once a player starts the adventure with a PC, that PC may not go on other adventures until this one is complete (could take a while…)
   
4. Each PC will have three magic items (I’ve preselected the ones for the premade PCs before deciding on the adventure) 1@6th, 1@7th, and 1@8th. They’ll also have 1,800gp for future needs.
   

Maptools 1.3.b50 can be downloaded for free at RPTools they have a newer version out now, but I haven’t had a chance to test it out with the token macros I use.

Players who have chosen their PC may ask questions of the Sisters.

The last thread was getting a bit cluttered with general MapTools stuff so I wanted to create a separate thread here just for the adventure. I created a separate MapTools thread in the General area.

How large is Millennium Island?

What did the ruins used to be?

Are there any towns on Millennium Island?

What makes the area unsafe (Eg bandits, undead, lots of monsters, etc)?

Can we see the maps and writings and if so, can anyone in the party make sense of them?

The ruins are very old 1000+ years. It is difficult to get archeologists into the area because of the monsters that roam almost unchecked. Not much is know as to who or what lived in the ruins.

There are several small towns (forts really) that are on the southern west and south east of the island. Civilians are discouraged from venturing off of protected areas. There are several mining operations on the island. They risk the dangers because of the rich veins exotic metals that have been discovered.

Monsters known to exist on the island include:
Undead (a few high level ones)
Lizard folk live on the north portion of the island (several varieties)
Giants have routinely been spoted in the foothills to the east
Some say there's an entry to the Underdark on the island.
Several dragons (green (old), black (adult) and brownish (very old) are known to live on the island, but haven't attacked in several years. Oddly there's a white dragon that also lives on the island which is unusual because of the tropical nature of the area.


Millennium island also has a prison located near the mountains in the south. Many "high risk" prisoners are sent here. One note worthy items is that Gharash Vren (a Dragonborn mercinary) recently escaped from the prison.

Sister Camille will show the writings and maps to those interested. The maps are pretty crude, but have enough landmarks on them for a cartographer to positively identify the island and general location. The writting seem to be gibberish, though someone skilled in arcana can make out the following words "Dragon Orb", "Karavakos", "Help".

Has Sister Vaarsus been to the Millennium Island (MI) before ofrresently?
Is there information or legends of a gold pyramid being located on MI or a Dragon Orb?

[Candelos] It seem to me a spirit or being of good nature is trying to send a warning thru Sister Vaarsus. It's name is likely

"Karavakos"

and it is asking for

"Help"

Looks like it will be a lot of fun Ken. The online test encounter you ran went smooth. It took longer then you expected likely because we won't using Ventilo and I had to type my conversations (everybody knows how slow I type).

No, Sister Vaarsus has never been to Millennium island.
No information or legend regarding a pyramid on the island (gold or otherwise).
There is are several conflicting legends/rumor regarding something called the Dragon Orb.
Legend #1 There was a third dragon god who rivaled both Bahumut and Tiamat and that his essance was trapped within an orb.

Legend #2 Some say that the Dragon Orb is an egg from the union of both Bahumut and Tiamat.

Legend #3 The Dragon Orb is an artifact that was spit into several pieces. Untold riches await the one that brings all of the pieces together.

If there are no further questions, the adventurers will be escorted to a ship bound for Millennium island.
