Terran One (Stargate Campaign) Empty Terran One (Stargate Campaign)

Post by Dwarmaj Fri Nov 21, 2014 11:23 am

Still working on many of the details, but here's what I have so far:

    Terran Rules

The campaign will start at level 9 with starting gold/items of 9,600gp.

This campaign will make use of Inherent bonuses.

The players may use their gp budget to buy any items, rituals, consumables of 6th level or lower. If an active PC, not a backup character, has an item crafting feat, then players can have items crafted up to the PC crafter’s level.

Combat and environments may be more deadly than some are used to...
If an intelligent monsters witnesses an ally being slain, they will attempt to slay downed PCs.

    Terran 1:
The world the PCs originate is called Terran 1.
It is common knowledge that the people (all human) of this world migrated here long ago. The method and reason for the migration has been lost.

As the party adventures and encounters new species, new player races will be unlocked. If there is a specific PC race that a player would like, let me know and I’ll work it in.

Magic does exist on Terran 1 but is limited. All classes, feats, skills, backgrounds, themes, and items in the Character Builder are available.
Risiduum is rare on this world which limits magic item production.

There are no crafters on Terran 1 higher than 9, very few are even above 6.

The level of technological advancement on Terran 1 is similar to 20th century Earth.

During mining exploration the Argo Company discovered a vault that they were unable to enter. They tried explosives and all technologies on hand to no avail. The site soon taken over by the government and it took them almost 5 years to gain entrance to the vault. Once inside the Stargate was found, but it took another 15 years before a team of experts were able make the gate functional.

    SG team:
There are several (6) teams that are being assembled to explore the Gates.

The teams will be comprised of 5-7 individuals and each team must have at least one Controller. This is due to the fact that only Controllers so far have shown the ability to operate the gate successfully. It is currently unknown why this limitation exists.

Because of this, one player must be of a Controller class character role. (A hybrid character counts, but a multi-classed character, using a multi-class feat, does not.)

Each player should have two characters ready to go and each must be of a different role (Leader, Controller, Defender, Striker).

The exception is for the player playing a Controller. Their backup character may be a Controller (but must still be of a different class).

If the party controller is lost (killed, kidnapped, ...) there may be a TPK as the party will be unable to use the gate.

    Gates:
The "stargates" are one way conduits to another gate.

Though, some technologies do allow for two way transport (two-way radio communication is possible through an open gate). SG-C has determined this with the unmanned probe that they recently sent off world. Currently designated P2X-3YZ.

    Gate usage:
Using the gate consists of pressing seven of the hieroglyphs on the “DHD” control panel, then placing a hand on the central control orb.

SG Command has identified one off world working address (28-26-5-36-11-29-31) from deciphering scrolls found near where the stargate was first found.

This world seems to have climate and atmosphere similar to Terran 1 with signs of rich animal and plant life. No intelligent species have been detected in the brief scans.

SG-C has an automated probe that was sent to this world and gathered as much information it could while the gate was open (roughly 30 minutes). After three dialing sessions of gathering information, communication with the probe has been lost.

The address back to Terran 1 from this world is yet unknown. So the first mission out could be a long endeavor if the team is unable to determine the address home.

    First Mission:
Two SG teams will be sent to P2X-3YZ.

The first team will be sent in to:
    Secure the gate.
    Setup a base of operations

The second team will be tasked with:
Seek out the proper addresses to be dialed to make it home.
Seek out mineral (especially residuum) deposits
Seek out intelligent life and attempt to make peaceful contact.

What point buy are we using?

Also, is this a Fantasy Campaign or are we actually from the SG-1 time frame?

    Normal point buy
Mix of fantasy/technology similar to Buffyverse.

Since the team are on military missions, anything the teams find during the missions may be used, but after the mission all money, items, risiduum is property of the government/SG-C.

PCs will be paid in risiddum based on their advancement.
PC budget will be as if they were one level lower (Level-1)+(Level-2)+2x(Level-3).

[at 9th that is 3400+2600+1800+1800=9,600] plus additional team resources deemed necessary.

If there are specialized items the teams want to create, let me know.

Additional resources the teams need can be request from SG-C.

I haven't seem much communication between players, but the party may want to make sure all character roles are represented and that all skills are covered...

Note each player needs to have two PC ready as two SG teams will be on the first mission. And both will have missions they need to perform.

I have created a Hunter (Essentials based ranger controller) for Party 1 and I will probably be making an Invoker (controller) for Party 2.

I chose a hunter because it seemed the fit the campaign thematically. It is a nature/survival expert with ranged damage so I can go with a "sniper rifle" as my main weapon and we probably need more than 1 controller. Hunters appear to be very accurate with OK damage and a couple of neat tricks up their sleeves. Plus a single target ranged slow on hit is always nice to have.

I will post the character in this post when I get a chance.

For my second character I was thinking about doing another controller in the invoker but I I would also consider a leader type of character as I haven't played many of those. Let me know what everyone else plans to make for Party 2 and I will decide.

Inherent bonuses are selected under the manage tab where you go to save your character and level up. There are some check boxes at the bottom of the screen for different rules like Dark Sun, Inherent Bonuses etc.

I tried to make it easy for you anyway.

So far it looks like the parties will be:

    SG-1
    Nathan - Leader
    Whey - Defender
    Max - Controller
    Nyssa - Striker
    Huedenji - Striker

    SG-2
    Camila - Leader
    Sonya - Leader
    Walt Dixon - Controller
    Xavier - Controller
    Trey - Striker

I made some sample SG characters here if anyone wants/needs one:

Max is actually a controller. I believe hunter is the only martial controller.

I was making a defender for the second party but I am switching it up to a striker as that is what the party needs.

Post by Dwarmaj Sun Nov 30, 2014 3:55 pm

The SG-C and the Terran government are pleased by the new mining opportunities opened up by the latest mission to P2X-3YZ.

The natives on the planet have agreed to allow Terran's to perform mining and in exchange will help them with farming, education, tools, and future protection.

The SG-C have developed a way to block incoming the gate traffic. With the influx of residuum, researches heave developed a Force Barricade generator.
The generator isn't mobile once in place and draws a great deal of energy, but blocks all physical and energy sent through the gate.

A probe was sent to each of the addresses found by SG-1.
    The results are as follows:
    P2L-2PL 22-11-27-12-21-2
The gate seems to be in a cave, the probe traveled about 15' then we lost our connection to it.

    PKR-FYE 1-20-22-04-21-3
The gate seems to be outside and there are several structures near the gate. It was dark out and no movement was detected.

    P0D-4CM 12-4-34-3-13-8
The gate is in a heavy forested area, almost jungle like. The probe was able to rely sounds of animal life. The path of the probe is blocked and it wasn't able to travel more than 10' from the gate.

    P2L-8EH 15-20-25-29-38-5
The gate is in are that looks like it used to be a lightly forested area. The trees surrounding the gate seem to have all been burn down.

    P0U-7ZM 31-34-5-37-8-4
The gate seems to be in a well light cave. Soon after the probe was sent in, movement was seen (blurry images) and we lost the connection to the probe.

    P1S-8RK 9-30-22-6-2-20
The gate is in a lightly forested area. A pyramid similar to the one on P2X-3YZ can be seen. There is something on top of the pyramid but it can't be made out from this distance.

    P3A-Z7A 17-3-21-13-16-2
The gate is under water. The probe wasn't designed for underwater usage and fail quickly after it was sent through.

Among the addresses found was a partial address and near the glyphs was a picture of lizard men similar to the ones captured.

For the next adventure the PCs will be level 12 and will have a total gp limit of 48,000gp.
Items will be limited to 8th level unless a PC can craft them.

Through talks the SG-C had with the people of P2X-3YZ they found out that their god/ruler was Q'uq'umatz (he's also known as Quetzalcoatl). They call them selves Q'uqum (Que-qwum).

Any Human from Terran 1 that has Quori as a language will be able to speak with the natives. The locals of Q'uquam don't know a written language as it was forbidden (this is why they were so disturbed by PC writing symbols on the ground...)

New PC not from Terran 1 must have Thayan selected as a language to communicate with the humans of Terran 1.

From the list of gate addresses found on the last mission, I'll need the PC to decide which two they'd like to visit first.

Also, should one SG team go to each address or should both teams go to the same address?

We should send one team to one gate, having another team ready to go through as reinforcements.

Nevermind. I respected to pick the Ritual Caster Feat, so I can make items now.

Stu, how much residuum did we get from the Blacksmith?

You got enough Residuum to make the highest + 2 item available, but not enough to make a basic + 3 item.

No, she cannot make magic items, but she can make any item you can imagine out of metal. She can assist someone who has the craft feat in making metal magic items.

I agree w Ross. Unless there's a reason for the party to go back to planet "7" from the adventure I ran, we go to one of the first two gates, one team going and the other on "stand by alert" in case there's "trouble".

I'd be more than happy as DM to run the continuation of the planet 7 series... haha...

By a controller, right? Is there a skill that's tied to this? Would that be Arcana? History?...
